Darren woke up and stretched out before throwing his shirt on. He had plans for the morning but it seemed Lillian was already awake so he'd have to postpone. He made his way down the stairs slowly. Mornings were hard, a foggy forgetfulness covered the corners of his brain.
Lillian sat down next to him. She was trying to put the pieces together, "She broke your heart, right? You do realize she has a boyfriend right?"
"I know," He shook from the effort in the sobs. "I love her,"
Lillian patted his back, "There. There."
She spotted Darren and she smiled. She gestured to Cooper with a look of help me please I can not handle this right now.
Ryan woke up toward the end of the movie. He blinked to pretend like he didn't fall asleep.
She was completely absorbed in her internal debate, forgetting completely about the real world.
Lillian patted his back, "There. There."
She spotted Darren and she smiled. She gestured to Cooper with a look of help me please I can not handle this right now.
"Shaxx." Darren said with a harsh voice, "You didn't,"
Cooper looked up weakly, silently saying he did.
"Cooper!" Darren ran his hands through his hair. "A truss?" Cooper nodded.
Lillian looked between them confusingly, "What's a truss?"
Ryan paid no attention to his surroundings, he focused on the dream he had woke up from. Would he really not be upset if Belle didn't choose him? He loved her but he put her happiness first.
Lillian looked between them confusingly, "What's a truss?"
"It's a thing that happens to our species of demon. We have no control over it but we are unconditionally bound to that person for the rest of our lives. You are pulled to them like magnets or gravity and all you wish to do is protect them, you would do anything to appease them. Whatever they want… done. Everything else becomes secondary and the person is pushed to the forefront of your mind making them impossible to stop thinking out. Nothing else matters." Darren sighed, "The person you have a truss with is usually a perfect match, this happens so demons can reproduce but when it happens with any species other than a demon… human, angel, whatever… It's irrefutable and Cooper can't fall in love with anyone else."
"Oh God…." Lillian's eyes widened, "And he has one with……"
"Apparently," Darren sighed. Cooper shook as he held back his next bout of tears
Lillian asked the question more directed to Cooper than Darren, "Does she know?"
Cooper shook his head quickly, "I couldn't tell her. She loves Ryan." he paused, "She said she loved me too," He was confused but for once not angry… He couldn't be angry with her, it wouldn't allow him.
Ryan snapped out of it and looked at Belle, "Hey,"
She was violently ripped out of her thoughts by his voice. "Hmm?"
Cooper shook his head quickly, "I couldn't tell her. She loves Ryan." he paused, "She said she loved me too," He was confused but for once not angry… He couldn't be angry with her, it wouldn't allow him.
Lillian was slight taken aback, "She did?"
"You look in deep in thought there," He put a smile, no matter how fake.
Cooper shook his head quickly, "I couldn't tell her. She loves Ryan." he paused, "She said she loved me too," He was confused but for once not angry… He couldn't be angry with her, it wouldn't allow him.
Lillian was slightly taken aback, "She did?"
"She kissed me and said, for the record I love you. Then she left." He could feel tears roll down his cheek. When a truss was rejected or ignored, it destroyed.
"Yeah, I suppose I was."
Ryan wrapped his arm around her, he wasn't allowed to ask unless she asked. He didn't want to push her.
Lillian stood up and reached for a phone, "I'm going to talk to her. Maybe straighten things out?"
Darren watched his brother and the ways that he and his brother were alike felt bad for him. Balthazar and Shaxx had a connection that couldn't be denied.
Lillian stood up and reached for a phone, "I'm going to talk to her. Maybe straighten things out?"
Cooper took the phone and held it close to his chest, "You can't tell her. She's happy with Ryan," he cried.
Lillian let out a small sigh, "I won't tell her about the truss or anything. Just talk. Okay?"
Cooper loosened his grip on the phone so she could take it. His knees were shoved to his chest, he wanted to be as small as possible…
Lillian smiled as she took the phone. She dialed Belle.
Belle nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard her phone ring. She picked up. "Hello?"
"Hi Belle," Lillian responded, "Can we talk for a bit?"
"I mean, we already are but sure. What's going on?"
Cooper shook. This wasn’t good. He was scared she wouldn’t be happy.
