Jackie nodded. "Whatever." She turned and went back down to the second floor without another word to Trinity. She looked in the classrooms, not finding anybody.

Trinity searches the floor to find Ben, the person she ran into earlier. "Oh!' she says with surprise, "I didn't see you there. Are you ok?" She pauses for a moment, "Do you know anything about this…apocalypse?"
" No," Ben said. ‘They always say when the sky is sickly green there is a tornado passing by, but yet I don’t see a tornado…. Those scientists need to get their calculations right.’ Ben pondered the thought for a minute. Then glancing back at the zombies, he found no amusement on watching them stomp over each other or fall over some of the most pathetic things like a twig. Laying back down on the sofa, he waited for something exciting to happen.
Nyir found that the door to the cafeteria was locked. She slammed her hands against it, yelling, "It's just me, Mrs. Heol. Please open the door!" A noise behind her interrupted her. She whirled around, her eyes big. Something was coming towards her. Not quite a human, but…something. It resembled a school kid, but its dead eyes and blank expression were off.
"Ty…tyrone?" She recognized it suddenly. She'd taught this kid AP history. He hesitated, his head cocking to one side. "Tyrone, it's Mrs. Heol. What's going…are you…"
His lips snarled. He leapt towards her at breathtaking speed, his hands outstretched. He was out for blood.
"Holy crap," she screamed, turning away and banging on the cafeteria door even louder. "Please, Tasper, somebody, help!!"
Clyde heard a cry for help and ran down the stairs, a mop handle in hand to serve as his weapon.
Sitting up right, Ben head the cry for help, but besides that he heard pitter-patter of the person that was coming to the rescue, ‘still nothing to do…..’
Nyir turned back towards the creature, trying to keep it at arm's length. It's nails raked down her exposed skin on her arms. She bit her tongue to keep from crying out, wrestling it back. She heard someone coming down the stairs. Craning for a glimpse, she recognized… er… Clint? Carl? Some C name. "Please, help!" she screamed at him.
Standing, he pulled out his army knife his father forced him to bring around, walking to the Janitors closet, he pulled out a wooden broom and started carving a notch at the end. Finishing it, he slid his knife into the notch, then taking a pair of shoes from the closet, he pulled out the shoelaces and tied that around the knife and broom, his spear was now complete. ‘Now time to go after them.’ He thought as he darted down the hall.
Kicking down a stupid locked door, Ben stormed down the stairs to the second floor with his makeshift spear in hand. Catching his breath as he made it down, he looked up to see one of his teacher, and Clyde right ahead of him- running towards the zombie. He could see the long scratch of his teacher’s arm, glancing at the wall he broke open the glass that shielded the fire extinguisher. Pulling it out he continued his race down the hall to his teacher with the spear and the heavy metal extinguisher.
Someone else had joined the fray. "Ben!" she yelled. He was equipped with some kind of makeshift weapon and a fire extinguisher. At least he was prepared. "Help, please!"
Ben shot past the slow Clyde like a falcon. Aiming his spear, He thrusted it forward with all his glorious hotness. The spear cut through the air like when you’re cutting wrapping paper and the scissors start to glide through it. It hit the zombie head on, but except that it hit him with such force that it knocked him backwards and now the spear was imbedded in the floor.
Nyir had to admit, she didn't realize that Ben was such a badass. She wasn't going to tell him that, but seriously. That was impressive. Breathless, she placed a hand on his shoulder. "Thanks, Ben. That was…that was…yeah. You saved my life there." She dropped her hand, inspecting her wounds. It wasn't deep, but she didn't want it infected. Who knew what was in the creature's nails. "Come with me to the nurse's office, please. Just in case I run into more of these creatures."
Respecting the teacher’s words, he pulled his spear out of the head of the zombified student and followed her like a body guard to the nurses office.
As they walked, Nyir decided to start up a conversation. "How did you learn to do…that?" she motioned to the spear, the body, everything.
“I learn all these thinks while I was helping a friend…uh… live in the wild while running away from police… it’s a long story, so please don’t ask about it.” (FYI, Ben was based off a book I started then stopped because I was already working on a different one.)
"Oh. Okay, that's…interesting," Nyir said with a frown. "Sounds like you've led an exciting life." She wanted to press for details, but she backed off. She didn't want to make her only protector pissed off at her before she'd even made it to the nurse's office.
The two of them continued down the hallways. It was oddly quiet. Most students had vacated the area, and the ones remaining were in a hurry to do so. It was haunting. Their footsteps echoed ominously down the corridor.
The nurse's office was empty, as well. Nyir shook away any feelings of fear and headed into the room, rummaging through the first aid.
“Here’s some hydrogen peroxide,” Handing it to Nyir, Ben took out a few other bottles and stuffed them into a bag, “We should bring some of these things with us.” He blurted as he took down a few other First Aid things.
Nyir nodded in agreement. She treated her wounds with the hydrogen peroxide and then wrapped them in gauze. They were bleeding pretty heavily. She hoped that they didn't need stitches but at this point she didn't care. Shoving the supplies into the bag, she searched the room for other items that might be of use later on.
“Come to think about it,” Ben said thoughtfully, “We are stuck in a school building surrounded by zombies and we don’t even know if we have enough food to sustain us and the other no-zombie students… If the zombies don’t kill us, starvation might.” Its was a sad thought, but it was true as well.
Trinity walks by the group, "What happened? Are you ok Mrs. Heol? "
"I'm fine, Trinity," she replied with a wan smile. "Have you seen my son? Tasper? He's probably in the cafeteria."
"Um.. No I'm sorry, it was all such a rush." She looks worried. "We can go look, you should arm yourself though. Just remember they aren't your students anymore. Be prepared to defend yourself."
Nyir gave a brusque nod. "Right. Do you know how to get back into the cafeteria? The door is locked."
"Do you want me to bring this fire extinguisher?" Ben asked, it was a very odd question to ask, but his arm was getting tired.
"I may have 'borrowed' some keys from the office," she turns to Ben, "and Ben you can set that down if you'd like."
"I'll take it." Nyir accepted the extinguisher from him. It was heavy, but nothing she couldn't handle. She felt safer with it in her hands.
“Well,” Ben smirked as he cleaned the tip of his spear, “Ladies first.”
Trinity smirked, and lead the way. Once they came to the doors, she unlocked them with a key on a ring of many. "Voila…"
Nyir thanked her quickly and dashed into the cafeteria, her eyes scanning the crowds for her son. She hurried from table to table, greeting terrified kids and letting them know that an adult was here. She didn't spend too much time on it. She had to find her son.
Watching Nyir dash off, Ben managed to spot his friend at the far corner of the room. ‘My poor little Joan.’ Well, she wasn’t that little, she was only one year younger then him, but still she acted like a little loving county girl that he could not resist.
