(Right) "Oh, well if you're ever interested we could go together." Gale said, immediately regretting saying what she said. Gale didn't even know this girl's name!

“Oh, um, maybe,” Cora said, a bit surprised by the sudden invitation by the stranger. She should introduce herself, that would be the smart thing to do. “I’m Cora Wright, by the way,” she added quickly, holding out her hand for the other woman to shake.

"Gale Smith." she smiled, shaking Cora's hand. Damn, this woman was hot.

“It’s nice to meet you,” Cora said with a faint smile before letting go of Gale’s hand. She glanced down at Dakota again, who was standing up now and finished with her water. Cora crouched down and picked up the empty bowl, holding onto it for a moment,

"Nice to meet you too. Consider my offer, will ya? Here's my number if you want to chat." she said, further regretting saying that.

“Oh, yeah, I’ll think about it,” Cora said, rubbing at the back of her neck. She sipped her coffee again for a moment, shifting her weight on the back of her heels. She dug into her pockets and took out a five dollar bill. “Here’s a bit extra for a tip and the water.”

“No, really. I’ll feel terrible if I don’t tip you,” Cora insisted, setting down the bill on the table. “I’ll text or call you later,” she added with that same faint smile. She gave Dakota’s lease a tug, and walked with her coffee towards the exit.

Cora stepped outside and began walking back towards her home. It felt like her heart was thumping, and they everyone she passed could hear. She hated that she would constantly get so flustered around people she found to even be slightly attractive. It was annoying, and it bothered her.

Later that day, Gale closed up the cafe and decided to go for a walk when she ran into none other than Cora Wright.

Cora was on her way to a pharmacy to pick up her anxiety medicine. She had gotten home earlier from the café, and Dakota had started to whine nudge at her hands and legs. She had hurried to her bathroom to find her medication, only to see that the bottle was empty. So, she ended up sitting on the bathroom floor, gasping for air for at least 10 minutes while Dakota rested her head in her lap.

But as Cora and Dakota where walking down the sidewalk, she noticed a familiar, attractive face approach. “Gale, hey,” she greeted, cheeks slightly flushed.

“Yeah, pretty funny. How are you?” Cora asked. It was better to ask than to feel it, just so she was able to brace herself if it would get really bad. She couldn’t remember how many times she’s walked past someone so sad and suddenly burst into tears.
