Lillian reached the room as Paige inhaled. She rushed over to her bedside and said, "Paige can you hear me?"
Lillian reached the room as Paige inhaled. She rushed over to her bedside and said, "Paige can you hear me?"
Paige screamed, "Let me GO!"
"Paige, can you hear me?"
"Yes! Lillian, I'm here!"
"She can't hear you," the voice sang.
Paige's face contorted.
Lillian reached for Paige’s hand. She took it gently as she said, “I’m here for you Paige.”
"LILLIAN!"
"SHUT UP!" A hand jammed a dagger to her throat. "Would you actually like to die?"
"Send me back," Paige said slowly. The dagger began to slightly slit her throat.
A cut appeared, right where the dagger was pressed, Blood pooled.
Lillian turned over and shouted as soon as the cut formed, “WE NEED HELP IN HERE!”
A nurse rushed in frantically. "What's wrong?"
Lillian pointed to the cut on the throat, “That!”
The nurse paled. "I'll go get Doctor Vegran." She sprinted out of the room and the doctor appeared shortly after, sputtering to catch her breath. "What… is… going on?" she asked. Her faithful clipboard was coddled in her arms.
Lillian rolled her eyes and pointed to the cut, “That literally just appeared.”
"So your little friend tattled, did she now? I think that I may have to resort to more useful methods." Paige said nothing. The dagger cut deeper, rocking side to side as well. A choker of blood dribbled down her neck. She gritted her teeth.
"Get bandages!" Dr. Vegran told the nurse. The nurse nodded and ran. Dr. Vegran checked the monitors. "Weird…"
Lillian grabbed Paige’s hand. She held it tightly as she muttered, “Come on wake up. Please wake up.”
"Send. Me. Back." Paige felt the dagger cut deeper with each word. The blood was hot and burned her.
"Why should I when I can have all the fun I want. Right. Here."
Paige gasped in reality. Blood ran down the sides of her neck and stained the pristine white sheets.
Lillian held on tighter. She didn’t care what the others thought as she screamed, “PAIGE WAKE UP!”
The unexpected scream made the figure retreat. Paige struggled against the shackles. It was barely noticeable. The movement. Until-
Paige's eyes flew open and she felt Lillian's hand squeezing her's - oh Lordy it hurt - and the blood dribbling down her neck. "Lillian-"
"No, don't speak," Lisa ordered. The nurse brought bandages. Lisa wrapped them around Paige's throat, but she wasn't finished. "Stitches," she told the nurse.
Lillian smiled in relief she said quietly, “You’re awake. Thank God you’re awake.”
Paige opened her mouth, but the doctor gave her a stern glance. Her eyes sparkled, but also were haunted behind the surface. You had to look deep enough to see it.
Lillian looked down at Paige, “We’ll talk after okay?”
Paige nodded, but that hurt so much worse, so she just gave Lillian a thumbs-up.
(Sorry, Shade. I fell asleep on you last night.
(Same. Sorry)
Ryan was still unusually close to Paige. He hovered like a guard dog.
(Morning everyone!)
(Hey)
(Hello)
(So…Paige is a thing that happened whilst I was asleep.)
(Yeah)
(I swear now everyone's demons are all out of whack.)
(I'm still waiting to hop in)
(Wait what? I hate to sound rude but when did you get here?)
