He wouldn't let himself think that way again. It'd hurt even more than it already did.
Jake sighed, "Of course you do B-Brooke; I'm your best friend."

(GAH YOU TWO ARE HOPELESS)

"Ha, ye-yeah…" Jacob whispered.

(Aren't they, though? Lol.
I just listened to a mashup of songs that kinda made me think of them.)

"A corndog does sound nice," Brooke said quietly in agreement.

Deleted user

(Lol. Nice.)

Jacob leaned his head back on the wall. "The seven minutes should be up soon…"

Deleted user

He shut his eyes. This was fine. This was great.

The rest of their time was spent in silence, and Brooke breathed a sigh of relief when Jessie finally opened the door. The hostess looked almost disappointed to see Brooke and Jacob standing apart, not even looking at each other.

Brooke stepped out, keeping her eyes to the ground, not daring to look back at Jake.

(AGH
I'm so sorry I didn't notice you replied! Falls on ground hoping for forgiveness.)

He breathed a sigh of relief as the door opened, though kept quiet about what happened. He stared at his shoes, not daring to look at anyone, especially Brooke. He was too humiliated to look at her. You coward…

@Imperfect_Autumn group

(Lol. It's okay! I do that to people all the time…)

Wimp. You couldn't kiss him, and now you can't even look at him.

Brooke mumbled some excuse about needing the bathroom before dashing there. She quickly closed the door behind herself, leaning against it once she was alone.

"What just happened?" she whispered, squeezing her eyes shut tight.

(On an unrelated note, I could've just died from a water bottle spilling. I need to put away the BBQ sauce but a water bottle fell on the ground and spilled water everywhere. I managed to get over it and put the sauce up, and I tried to then jump over the puddle. I still landed in the puddle and slipped and began to fall towards the wall, yet I was able to catch myself in time. Very random.)

Jacob's shoulders slumped as she left. He made her uncomfortable, fantastic. In his distress his hands roamed, brushing against his hair until finally being content with holding themselves up to his eyes.

(Lol. That sucks. I skinned my knees so badly that they're still healing after nearly 3 weeks.)

After a few minutes, Brooke splashed some cold water on her face, then dried it off. She shook her head at her reflection.

Get a hold of yourself, girl. Jake is your best friend, maybe it should stay that way…

But I really like him…

Deleted user

(Yikes. We need to be wrapped up in bubble wrap.)

I'm going to lose my best friend. Friendship over. Any hope for anything else is out of the question, unless it's being strangers.

He sighed and sat down in a empty chair, watching the others continue playing with disinterest.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

(Seriously. Sometimes I wish I lived in an indestructible bubble.)

Brooke took a deep breath and stepped out of the bathroom. She made her way over to Jacob, still not meeting his eyes and biting the inside of her lower lip.

"Can– Um– Can we talk?" she asked quietly.

Deleted user

He blinked, and lifted his head up- still not looking at her face, rather resting his eyes on left hand.

"Okay," he compiled. "Do you want to go somewhere else, or..?"

Deleted user

He hummed in response, getting up from his chair and began to walk over to the backyard.

(Sorry! A kid knocked over a lamp w/a glass shade, and it shattered, so that was fun to clean up…
And then kids needed to be put to bed, and they needed to get baths before that, and no one was cooperating. Ugh… Stress.)

Brooke found a couple of lawn chairs and moved them underneath a large tree, out of the sight of anyone who would be watching curiously. She sat down in one and gestured for Jacob to sit in the other.

Deleted user

(Na you're fine)

Jake sat down in the remaining chair, waiting for what she had to say. Honestly, he was a little afraid. Was she officially going to call off their friendship.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Brooke sighed, leaning back in her chair and looking up at the darkening sky through the leaves of the tree. How should she put this? Should she even say it?

"Um… I think we need to talk about, uh, what just happened," she finally muttered, turning so that she could see Jake out of the corner of her eye.

Deleted user

He froze. Okay. She was going to call off their friendship. Politely.
"A-Alright," he forced himself to speak. "What about it do you want to talk about?"

@Imperfect_Autumn group

"What we were talking about in the closet. I– You– Err… Um…" Brooke stuttered, putting her head in her hands and covering her face. She mumbled, "We weren't talking about just being friends, were we?"

Deleted user

He was silent for a moment. Perhaps if they were going to depart he might as well be honest before that.

He swallowed, "No, I d-don't think we were."

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Brooke sighed heavily. Why did her brain have to stop finding words to speak now of all times?

"So… Did you really think I just meant–" She coughed awkwardly, buying herself time to think. "–um, that I meant I really like you as a friend?"

Deleted user

Jacob looked at her finally, surprised. "Of course. Why would you like me any less or more? I'm just… me."

@Imperfect_Autumn group

"And, um, I…uh… Oh, gosh, why does this have to be so hard?" Brooke exclaimed, falling back into her seat dramatically. She dug her palms into her eyes and groaned.

Deleted user

He patiently waited for her, still red from her comment.
(Gtg; won't be on much tomorrow either.)
