Darren didn't want to rush Lillian, but he knew how she didn't like to be late. He tapped lightly on the door, "Hey babe you almost ready?"
Darren didn't want to rush Lillian, but he knew how she didn't like to be late. He tapped lightly on the door, "Hey babe you almost ready?"
Lillian heard Darren's voice through the internal shouting match. She put the blade back into her bag. Not today voice. Not today.
She finished getting ready. She took a deep breath before opening the door, she smiled, "Yep."
Darren smiled back before turning on his heel and walking out to the car.
Lillian followed after him. Her smile faded slightly.
They both got in the car and he drove to school. They were early, which is something that had been happening a lot since dating Lillian. He was usually late or skipped classes.
Lillian looked at the school. She got really nervous for some reason.
Darren got out "You coming?" He questioned. He noticed something had been off ever since chemo day but didn't want to say anything. It wasn't really his business. was it?
Lillian took a deep breath and nodded. She got out of the car, "Yeah."
Darren smiled at her and the two walked to the school. "Do you wanna wait outside for a while? We are a little early."
Lillian nodded, "Sure. I mean we have the time to kill."
Darren sat down on a bench making sure to leave room for Lillian if she wanted to sit.
Lillian sat down next to him and leaned her head on his shoulder. She shut her eyes tightly as the voice started getting louder.
Darren put an arm around her, “You okay honey?”
Lillian wanted to say yes. She wanted to keep this façade of being fine, for Darren. But she just couldn't, "No. I'm not."
Darren held her a little tighter, “Wanna talk about it?”
Lillian nodded. She opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out. She bit her lip instead.
Darren looked at her using a hand to make her do the same. “It’s okay, whatever it is, I’m here for you,”
Lillian smiled weakly. She said quietly, "Thank you."
“Just,” he paused thinking of what to say “Just know you can always talk to me, okay?”
Lillian buried her head into his chest and nodded.
He ran his hand through her hair really hoping she’d be okay.
Lillian shuddered slightly as he ran his hand through her hair. Is that what it felt like? She didn't want to pull away.
Darren continued hoping that it soothes her. At the very least she knew he was there for her.
“Ready for school?” He asked noticing more people starting to arrive.
