“It’ll probably get worse,” Vaughn mumbled, in a pessimistic mood. He rested his chin on the top of Kaz’s head, trying to concentrate on the touching to calm his nerves.
“It’ll probably get worse,” Vaughn mumbled, in a pessimistic mood. He rested his chin on the top of Kaz’s head, trying to concentrate on the touching to calm his nerves.
"Yep," Kaz drawled, smiling softly at the way Vaughn rest his chin on his head. He squeezed at his hand again before rubbing at it, a hand moving to rub at Vaughn's back soothingly
“I’m hungry,” Vaughn mumbled, leaning into Kaz’s hand. He enjoyed the feeling of Kaz’s rubbing, feeling like his hand was loosening the tension in his muscles. “Could we see if there’s something to eat in the cafeteria?”
"Sure, ba-Vaughn," Kaz said, catching himself before he used the nickname. Judging by Vaughn's reaction the last time he had tried to say something couple-y, like when he had said he loved Vaughn, the reaction he had gotten wasn't entirely pleasant. He moved to sit up, stretching while he still held Vaughn's hand
Vaughn arched a brow, able to assume what Kaz was about to say. He stood up, rolling his shoulders back slowly, feeling a pop in his back. “Come on, baby,” he said, hoping Kaz would take the hint that it was okay to say that.
Kaz felt his face heat up slightly at the nickname, and before he could stop himself a soft smile was spreading across his face. "Okay, let's go. Maybe they'll have burgers or something," he said, tugging Vaughn gently towards the door
“I doubt they’ll have something that good,” Vaughn grumbled, walking out of the room with Kaz. He kept his head lowered, glancing down at the ground every once in a while.
"A gay can hope," Kaz snickered, giving Vaughn's hand a quick squeeze as they walked down the hallway towards the cafeteria. He began to hum softly, happy that he was spending time with Vaughn
The scientists came in suddenly and unexpectedly. They handed her a couple of pills and simply said "Radiation treatment." Before gesturing at her to take them. She did, without hesitation, pills didn't bother her, it was needles, or more like the people on the other end of them, that bothered her. She swallowed the pills. They peeled back the bandage before removing it. They smirked at her, "Hope you enjoy the living arrangements." What the hell was that supposed to mean. They left without another word, leaving pills for her no-name roommate. "Well goodbye then." She snipped after they left.
Vaughn glanced over at Kaz, a soft smile forming on his lips. He let go of Kaz’s hand, slipping an arm around his waist instead. He gave Kaz’s hip an affectionate squeeze, keeping the other close to him in a seemingly protective manner.
Jules fell asleep. And the thrashing began, then the screaming. Usually her words were incoherent but this time one word was clear, "Help." She screamed over and over and over again. She was silent and still for the rest of the night.
(Sorry for the trash response, it's been a long couple of days)
(lol it's all good)
Kaz's smile widened, a hand slipping around Vaughn's waist as well as they walked. He thought it was pretty adorable how protective Vaughn was. He turned his head as he smelled what he was sure was hamburgers coming from the cafeteria. "Oh my god, there really are burgers!"
Vaughn inhaled slowly as he glanced around the hallway. “Surprising. You’re overly excited,” he commented, looking down at Kaz with a faint smile. He continued to rub and squeeze at Kaz’s hip absentmindedly.
"Oh hush. Burgers are the best thing since modern cellos and Smash Bros," Kaz chuckled, making his way towards the lunch line. "Are you gonna eat or are you gonna sit and starve again? Because I will use the rest of my money to buy an entire vending machine's worth of granola bars if you don't eat."
Vaughn raised his hands in surrender and nodded, letting go of Kaz to follow him. “There’s no need for that, I’m going to eat,” he reassured.
"Okay, okay," Kaz chuckled. Luckily the line was short, so they got their food relatively quickly. He went to sit at a table off to the side, empty and away from the general group of people. He smiled at Vaughn, waiting for him to sit down before beginning to eat
Vaughn slid into a seat across from Kaz, not eating immediately. He stared at his food for a moment, still hesitant about eating it. Well, if Kaz had eaten it before and was fine… He picked up his burger and took a bite, chewing slowly. Hell, he didn’t think it would taste so good.
Kaz smiled around a mouthful of burger, reaching over with one foot to tap it against Vaughn's. "See? Burgers are good, and that is a fact," he said, chuckling a little before taking another bite
“That could possibly have drugs in them,” Vaughn added, taking another bite. He smiled softly at the touch to his shoe. It was a small, simple thing, but it was affectionate. And he liked simple things.
"Oh, stop it. They've drugged us up so much already that I highly doubt they crammed pills into burgers," Kaz chuckled, giving Vaughn's foot a playful nudge before going back to eating
Vaughn chuckled softly, shrugging his shoulders loosely. “You never know for certain, this place is insane,” he said, shaking his head slowly. His smile grew at the second touch, and he shifted slightly in his chair.
"That's because we're all insane, dear," Kaz laughed, continuing to tap Vaughn's foot absently as he ate. He couldn't seem to help his smile, and it only grew wider as he talked to Vaughn. He didn't understand what it was, but something about Vaughn just made him…happy
Vaughn continued to eat, taking his time as best as he could. He didn’t want to leave this peaceful moment. He did finish his burger surprisingly fast, considering how hungry he was. Using a napkin, he wiped his mouth off, glancing back up at Kaz.
Kaz finished his burger as well, reaching for the soda he had grabbed earlier. "You think we'll mutate soon?" he asked out of pure anxiety, taking a sip of his soda as he stared at Vaughn
“God, I hope not,” Vaughn commented, shaking his head slowly. He picked up a bottle of water, popping the cap open and taking a long drink before setting the bottle back down. “I have a bad feeling about it,” he added.
"Yeah. I heard one of the guys from one of the other tables say that if you've got stuff like multiple personality disorder things can get a lot worse. I just hope that it doesn't cause something crazy with me, like…Kaon splitting from me or something," Kaz said, shuddering slightly at the thought
“Hey, if he split from you, that would give e a chance to freely kick his ass as much as I please,” Vaughn added like it was such a wonderful thing. He would just love to do so, though. Kaon was a complete ass, and he didn’t like the things that the things that the other personality would say to Kaz.
"Oh my god, I would pay to see that shit. I'd help you kick his ass too, for all the screaming in my brain and shit," Kaz laughed, taking another sip of his soda. "Who knows? Maybe if I will it hard enough it'll happen so we can kick his ass."
“I think that could be the only good thing that would come out of this mutation,” Vaughn commented with a slight chuckle, allowing his shoulders to slouch. He downed about half of his water, nudging Kaz’s shoe with his own lightly.
"Yeah. Who knows, maybe we'll get something cool. I dunno, maybe you'll get to turn into a knife or something," Kaz said, beginning to laugh at the mental image of Vaughn randomly turning into a floating knife. He nudged Vaughn's shoe with his as he laughed, giggling as he looked up at him
