Lillian gave a slight nodded. She tried not to wince at the sharp pain that occurred at the base of her neck, "Yeah."
Lillian gave a slight nodded. She tried not to wince at the sharp pain that occurred at the base of her neck, "Yeah."
Darren noticed the wince and decided not to push. Not now at least.
Lillian let out a sigh, "Anything interesting happen?"
“Other than Lloyd bringing Nate to school today. Not really.”
(Lloyd pays attention to his class like a gud boi and Nate is gud too, plus cuteness points)
“Anything interesting with you?”
Lillian respond a tad too quickly and forcefully, "No."
“You sure? You can tell me.” Darren looked concerned. Something was definitely off.
"It's nothing," Lillian's voice was close to hissing. She took a deep breath and said more calmly, "Really. It's nothing."
“Doesn’t a ound like nothing,”
Lillian sighed. Her voice became weak and tired, "Just go away Darren."
Darren looked back at her confused and hurt until finally he was just angry, “Fine.” He picked up his things from the desk and walked out. He didn’t come back for the rest of class.
(Get oofed)
Lillian felt awful for saying that. She didn't know what else to do, she didn't deserve him. Didn't deserve anyone. She gingerly laid her head on her desk and felt tears begin to roll down her face. She tried to control her breathing as it hitched and she let out a sob.
Darren walked into the bathroom throwing his things against the wall and collapsing down with them. He started to cry. He was angry and confused and he didn't know what to do.
The bell rang, class ended and Darren picked his stuff up off the floor, wiped his tears and walked out still fuming.
Lillian gave up trying to hold it in. She got up and went to the bathroom. She entered a stall and locked it behind her. She slid down the wall feeling more tears spill over and her breathing become more and more erratic. She didn't care that her back was protesting against being up against the wall. She needed the pain to help remind her of her place in the world. The bottom.
Lloyd walked out of his class, Nathaniel tailing him closely. "Hey, Darren, you okay?" He asked as he walked towards Darren.
Darren was conflicted, he wanted to respect her wishes and just leave her alone but he also wanted to confront her. Even just to talk to her, he needed to know it wasn't his fault.
"Yeah, m'fine." He said with a sniff.
Lillian heard the bell, she tried to stand back up but her legs protested and she fell back to the ground. The tears came more rapidly. She wanted Darren, but he couldn't help her. I don't deserve him, she reminded herself. Her mother's words from the night before rang in her mind, along with the crack of…. Don't think about it. Just get up.
"You sure? Looks like you've been crying." Nathaniel hugged Darren's leg, trying to make him feel better.
"No, I'm really okay. What have you to been up to?" He had to admit Nathaniel was good at making people feel better.
"Just went to class, not much. Nate behaved himself, didn't you?" Nathaniel nodded, still not letting go of Darren.
Lillian forced herself up. She leaned against the wall as she wiped her tears away. Lillian opened the door and walked out of the stall. She spotted Darren, Lloyd, and Nate outside the bathrooms. She took a deep breath and tried to sneak past them.
"Good job," He said to Nate offering a hand for a high five, "Do you know what's wrong with Lillian?" Darren looked around and saw her, "I'll be right back."
Lloyd looked up as Lillian left the bathroom. "No? She's right over there, though." Nathaniel gave Darren a high five before looking over at Lillian as well.
"Lillian, wait," He said running behind her.
Lillian froze, Shit. Every instinct told her to run, but her legs wouldn't move. She turned to face Darren, "W-what?"
“Can we please just talk.” He said calmly.
