"Yuki, don't." Rowan let out a quiet sigh. "He doesn't want any trouble. That's why he's using double layered loyalist talk." She explained, her expression darkening. Suddenly, Rowan felt a lot older than she was. Rubbing her temples, she stared down Armand. "We aren't leaving." She asserted. Then she looked back at Yuki. "We'll find a way to get Kodiak to safety. For now lay low." She commanded in a whisper.

@SincereBeastie

Kodiak would be gone in just a day. Biggest chances were Kodiak would be exiled tomorrow, after everything happened. He shook his head, thankful for Rowan's knowledge, yet a little disappointed in himself. He wasn't committing treason, was he? Did he care? He wasn't sure. "I am returning to my office. "The cells are waiting," he said, standing at the top of the stairs, "I think they look fairly comfortable, comparably."

"Goodnight, Armand." Rowan waved him off. She knew Armand suggesting the cells was a warning. A coded one at that. After her first encounter with a loyalist when she was five, Rowan's visits to them had steadily increased over the years. She by no means was an expert on them, but she knew a lot more than the average rebel fighter.

"We can't break out Kodiak tonight." Rowan grumbled, frustrated. "The cell will be heavily guarded. Even if it doesn't look like it. I have a feeling Armand has quite a few sensors and cameras around it." She sat deep in thought, looking at Yuki. "Any ideas?"

@SincereBeastie

(Bedtime, Night!)
Armand cast a glance to her slightly abrasively, before sighing to himself and bracing his legs for the ache back down. I'd be better off just staying in my station; won't need my assistance, he'd hoped to offer them at least some level of safety. But it was their choice. He should know better that they wouldn't want to listen to him but they'd see tomorrow why. But he was having second thoughts about helping the rebels after helping to keep Kodiak from dying; even though he'd become fond of the small girl. Perhaps they'd not think of him trustworthy again, and maybe it was for the best.

(Night!)
“Well, I know how to hack into the cameras. We could get Armand to bring down security, wether we have to force him to or not. As for the human guards…they won’t live to see another night.”, Yuki explained.

"I'd rather not kill anyone…" Rowan bit her lip, staring up at Yuki with wide eyes. "They're just soldiers too, Yuki. They have their own lives, backgrounds, and some might have families…" She mumbled nervously. "I don't want to hurt Armand either." She added firmly.

@m1dn1g7t_ri0ts_13

Yuki didn’t know how to respond. “It was their choice to follow President Harris. Just like it’s our choice to be the resistance. They have killed our people sometimes we must kill them.”

"And it's our choice whether we kill them or not. It's our choice if their commander has to send out condolence letters to their families. It's our choice to orphan their children." Rowan spat, suddenly bitter. "This war has too many casualties. People are people. Not numbers." Rowan struggled to her feet, her injured foot cramping and making her stumble dangerously close to the stairs.

@wake-read-eat-sleep

"Well, I would beat him if I had to, " Petree lied, "But- er-" she tried changing the subject into something she could argue about. "Why do you even follow President Harris, anyway?"

@wake-read-eat-sleep

"I'm not asking who killed your husband! I'm asking why you joined President Harris! Do you realize that if you didn't join the Smoke Society, your husband would be alive?"

@WriteOutofTime

"I am loyal to my homeland. More than you can say about yourself." Nyir was still unruffled. "My husband would have died regardless of my joining the Society. It's a messed up world, thief, and the rebellion does more harm than good. If you would step out of your brainwashed little bubble, you'd see that."

@m1dn1g7t_ri0ts_13

“Sometimes that’s all we are, numbers. I was a number when I was imprisoned! I still am a number! We are all numbers!”, Yuki shouted. “And I’m number 107 who wants revenge!”

Deleted user

"So that's why…" Rowan froze and broke off her sentence. "That's why you don't have a purpose. They made you believe you were less than human…" Rowan looked away for a second, wiping her eyes quickly so Yuki couldn't see she was getting emotional. "I promise you're so much more than a number, Yuki. I'll do whatever it takes to prove you're human." Rowan reached out for Yuki's hand and gave it a tight squeeze. She wiped at her eyes again, her face wet with the few tears that escaped.

@m1dn1g7t_ri0ts_13

“Yeah. I’m more than a number. I’m also a murderer who will do whatever it takes to get revenge.”, Yuki said bitterly. “I’m sorry you feel that you have to find a purpose in me. You can try, but it won’t get you very far.”

"Yuki…" Rowan trailed off sadly, facing Yuki with watery eyes. "We're still kids, Yuki. We were just thrown into this goddamn war that's forcing us to grow up so fast. There's a purpose in you. I know there is. We've just gotta find your spark again, but I promise I will. We will."

@m1dn1g7t_ri0ts_13

“I won’t have to grow up if I’m dead!”, Yuki continued to shout. “I don’t even care anymore! The only reason I’m still alive is to kill President Harris and her loyal followers! Once President Harris is gone, I’ll be gone!”, she panted. A single tear rolled down from her gleaming, silver right eye. She couldn’t cry from her left eye due to it being artificial. “You’re so kind. I just don’t have it in me anymore. That once bright spark has turned to anger.”

Rowan did her best to look brave and inspiring, but her chest was tight from stress. Her breathing was shallow and tears poured down her red face, accompanied by a runny nose. Rowan's legs shook like a baby fawn's as she stared at Yuki, so unbelievably saddened and frustrated at the same time. She wanted to yell, but she knew if she did she would sob. "You have to give me a chance, Yuki. You have to promise me you'll let me do whatever it takes." Her voice was quiet, hardly above a whisper and quaking like a leave in a storm. Today had been long for Rowan. So long. The whirring of the blade still sounded in her ears, making her nauseous. She wasn't sure if the smell of her own blood would ever come out of her nostrils. "I-I'm sorry, Yuki." More hot tears poured down her face. "I'm so sorry." She mumbled, a strained sob finally escaping her throat.

@Oakie Dokie

"Would you two stop bickering like an old married couple and get a room already?" Kodiak shouted, finding a small bit of comfort in knowing he could still turn an emotional moment into a comedy skit in the blink of an eye.

@m1dn1g7t_ri0ts_13

“My life was nothing but pain, physically and emotionally. I was being tortured while everyone I cared about died… because of President Harris. I hate her!” Yuki grabbed a brick and threw it off the side of the building. You could hear it crumble as it hit the ground from the five story drop. “I hate the Smoke Society and everyone in it!” Yuki ignored Kodiak.

"We do that too. On the rebel side…" She looked away from Yuki, afraid of being berated. "At least back on base 34 they do." Rowan tried not to let her childhood memories overwhelm her. She'd met so many loyalists. So many of them were young and scared. "They didn't all choose to be apart of the army. Most of them were just unfortunate enough to be their family's firstborn. Nothing is as black and white as you think it is. But I agree with you in the sense that, well… The president must die to end this bloodshed. But you don't have to die after." She coaxed Yuki, trying to calm herself down in the process.

@m1dn1g7t_ri0ts_13

“I choose to. I want to die. Once President Harris is gone, my purpose is gone.”, Yuki said. “And once I’m gone, I’ll finally meet up with the poeple I cared about. Thy will all be there. For once I will end my suffering and be happy.” She had a faraway look in her eyes. A look that had many memories in it, good and bad.

"So you're saying finding you more people to care about would give you a purpose?" Rowan sniffed, looking at Yuki, her eyes rimmed red and glassy. Her nose was bright red from crying, giving her an almost comical Rudolph glow if not for the situation at hand. "Don't you care about Petree, Kodiak, and me?" She let her voice fade out weakly.

(I don't even know what to do! I love how Rowan's and Yuki's personalities and ideals clash with each other though!)
