"Hella yes!" Flair blurts, her eyes shinning, My go time. She weaves through the trail first, leaving it once in a while by accident, leaving the rest in the dust.
"C'mon! If this house is haunted you can count on the forest being so as well!" She calls over her shoulder at the group, "You guys are so slow and I dont know half of you… C'mon!"
Icarus waved back shyly, "Hey Luca. I guess we should get hiking then." Icarus shifted his weight nervously. He readjusted his backpack as it was catching on one of his wings. Somewhere deep in his subconscious he knew, he wasn't ever coming back from this trip.
Lukas sighed, checking his phone battery. "I probably should have come more prepared…but I suppose I'm ready." He shoved his phone back in the pocket of his pale blue jeans. Seeing the amount of supplies Xiang had brought made him feel uncomfortable. Would they really need a first aid kit? Would anyone get hurt? Why didn't he think of bringing anything else? Lukas hadn't even brought a water bottle.
Xiang chuckles and starts after her, drawing the book out again, "It says here that the spirits are released through the opening of the mansions door. How interesting. Along with a powerful seal to keep the most dangerous inside. Fascinating." he says, closing the book. He hums, walking the trail and taking in the sights. Everything seemed right with the world, but he knew in his gut that wasn't true. He gives a guilty glance at the forest beside him. He had already walked this trail many times, and with each time, guilt laid heavily on him No. Do not think of that he thinks to himself. We'll get out alive… All of us.
Luca beamed at him. "Yeah. I want to get home before it gets dark," he said, walking up beside Icarus. He adjusted his tie and looked around. He felt somewhat uncomfortable out here. It wasn't like his house, where everything was neat and tidy and clean and predictable. Anything could happen out here. It was all messy and different.
Flair was climbing a small incline when she can hear Xiang's muttering and she scoffs, "It doesnt work like that buddy."
Personally she would describe herself as a supernatural expert but others would just call her a freak and tease her saying that she must be the spawn of the devil to know all that stuff so accurately and what not. She was sure that these people would say the same.
Lukas shivered. "That's bullsh**. Spirits aren't real." He muttered, mostly to keep himself from freaking out. "Even if they were real, there's probably a reason why there's a seal to keep the powerful spirits inside." He fidgeted with the ends of his sleeve nervously. Everyone here seemed pretty okay with the fact that they were going into a haunted mansion. Why was he friends with these people?
Luca glanced over at Lukas. "I agree with nervous nelly over here," he said. "Sprits aren't real. I'm sure this will be fun, though."
Xiang hums, "I guess you could be right. After all, you're exploring hauntings all the time." he chuckles a bit as he places the book back in the bag. He was so nervous, his heart hurt in his chest. Flashes of terrible, terrible memories came back to him and he sighs softly, giving all his friends quick looks before walking up the trail. About an hour later, the looming house came into view. It looked shabby, but in good shape. He walks to the porch, resting a hand on the walls of the home. He was so nervous. We'll get out this time.
Icarus hiked closer to the back of the group, lost in his thoughts. His unease grew with each step he took closer to the destination. You can just say no He told himself. Say no, turn around. Go home and sleep in your own bed. They'll understand. Yet he didn't turn around, just slowed down until he stopped in the middle of the trail. Just say no.
Even the outside of the house made goosebumps appear on Lukas's arms. The mansion seemed to be repelling him, but at the same time called him closer. "Are you sure about this Xiang? This seems a little….what's the word…nonsensical."
Flair had already lept onto the porch and was examining the door, 'So cool!" She was examining every inch of that porch, "If I where a ghost/spirit/paultire ghoist this is exactly where I'd be.
Luca rolled his eyes. He walked up toward the door, hands folded in front of him. He turned to the others with an irritated expression. "I don't have all day. Are we going in or not?"
"I think I'll just uh… wait out here for you guys." Icarus backed up against a tree and set his bag down. "I don't feel too good about this place…" He tapped his foot anxiously.
Lukas raised his hand. "I'll wait out here too. If you guys get hurt or something there needs to be someone to call an ambulance." He sat down on the porch, leaning against his knees. "I'll just wait here and listen for your screams."
Xiang pauses, turning towards the others, trying to calm his pounding heart as guilt ran through his veins. No. We're going to be alright… He clears his throat. "You guys okay back there?" He asks, smiling a tiny bit. He ruffles his hair, a nervous habit, or just a habit in general. His smile was bright, but his eyes were worried. "We have to be careful, who knows what might be in here." He hums, pulling the key from the spine of the book. He takes a breath, his hand trembling. We'll get out this time. he thinks silently. "C'mon you guys. It'll be fun!" He tries for a cheerful tone, just like last time. He had to be careful this time. He noticed his friends hesitation. Ah… just like last time… he takes a breath, "It's just like when we were kids in the haunted houses. Besides, supernatural doesn't exist right?" Except they do…
"C;mon on! C'mon c'mon c'mon!" Flair jumps up and down, almost clapping her hands in excitment

"Do you guys really believe in ghosts?" Luca teased, opening the door but not going in. "Come on. We're not even going to be in there for that long. An hour, maybe two, at most. And if you hear a scary noise or whatever, we're probably all going to get the hell out before anybody can blink, because I'm willing to bet we're all scared to some extent."
Lukas fought with himself inside his head. This is so stupid, and you know you'll get hurt. Yeah, but what kind of friend would you be if you just stayed and cowered out here? Be honest with yourself, you'll probably end up running away and get yourself lost. Xiang and Flair seem to know what they're doing, so I'll just stick with them. He sighed, standing up and brushing off his pants. "Fine, I'll go."
Xiang nods, opening the door with the twist of the key, pushing the door open. CLouds of dust rose from the ground and he covers his mouth, coughing a bit. "Whoa." He hums as he walks through before the rest, his eyes wandering the abandoned mansion, "All clear!" He calls back to the others. Dust rises as he enters the house. He gulps. Here we go…
Lukas followed Xiang inside. He reached for his phone and shook it twice, causing a bright light to emit from the back. I should hopefully have enough battery to last a few hours… He turned to Xiang, a new thought running through his head. "You just opened the door with a key…where did you get it?"
Just say no. Just say no. Just say no. "O-okay…" Idiot! He mentally slapped himself as he picked up his backpack and begrudgingly walked over to the mansion. "But I'm leaving after an hour, 'kay?" He kept his head low.
"Do you guys really believe in ghosts?" Luca teased, opening the door but not going in. "Come on. We're not even going to be in there for that long. An hour, maybe two, at most. And if you hear a scary noise or whatever, we're probably all going to get the hell out before anybody can blink, because I'm willing to bet we're all scared to some extent."
"Yes. At leaste I do believe in ghosts. And I can say for a fact that I won't Run like a little girl scared of a cricket." Flair walks in and passes Xiang, "So cool!" She walks through the entrance hall way, flashing a beam of light from a flashlight along the walls
Luca shrugged. "Fair enough," he said to Icarus. He leaned inside the mansion and looked at the dusty front room. It was dark and quiet, wood rotting and falling apart. It looked like it did in most horror movies. With a shrug, he stepped in. So what if it's haunted? he thought to himself. I have nothing to lose, anyway.
Xiang pauses, hissing through his teeth as he revealed the book, "If we're being honest, I found the key in the spine of the book." he answers, that was a truth he could spare to the others, some of the other truths he could bare to look back on. He hums, thinking for a moment as he relaxes, waiting for the others to enter. He watches Flair come in, brushing past him. His eyes go emotionless for a moment, a memory flashing through him.
"Where did you get the book?" Lukas asked, tilting his head slightly. It wasn't that he didn't trust Xiang, but this whole concept was just a little too easy. He just happened to have a key to open the haunted house. He just just happened to find the key in this mysterious book.

Xiang hums in thought, he had already had this interrogation. "I found it in my dad's closet." he answers, looking at the other. He smiles a bit, before looking around the house. He takes a shaky breath. We can make it… but… why do I feel like I forgot something…? he thinks, biting his lip. Suddenly the door slams shut, scaring the crap out of him. Oh… right… that. He looks around, "Where did Flair go?" he asks softly to himself after getting over shock.
Flair walks into a room at the very back of the mansion. She flashes her light around it and freezes, her eyes growing wide. Her flashlight drops from her limp hand, landing on the floor with a loud but muphled thud. The thing shrieks a at her and envelopes her completely in shadow, cutting off her scream.
