Charlie raised a brow at the way Irae trailed off but didn't press, already having an assumption as to what she meant. “Well, I’m glad that you’re sturdy by mortal standards.” she said, holding the door open for her. “And I’m sure you'll be feeling better after a good meal too.”
Irae shrugged. "I didn't eat very often before, I wouldn't know. But its worth a try." She said, going into the inn and looking around.
Charlie gave a thoughtful nod and followed Irae inside, also starting to look around for an empty table when a voice spoke from behind the counter. “Can I help you?”
A tired-looking human man stood nearby, clearly having seen the pair walk in.
“Ah… just looking for a table and hoping for a two bed room for a couple of days.” Charlie answered politely, remembering what Daisy said earlier.
Irae nodded, watching the human closely out of the corner of her eye. Her tail moved slightly, in annoyance or apprehension. She didn't speak, worried about seeming rude.
(one room left and only one bed trope?)
The human nodded as he pulled out a ledger and a much thicker tome. “Well, there’s plenty of table but I need to ask for your species and ages. We have a pretty wide variety of customers and I’m sure you know some things that don't sit well with one species is a favorite of another.” he explained, noticing when certain customers preferred discretion.
“Of course.” Charlie replied, her tail twitching nervously as she thought about Irae and how to answer the question regarding her. “I’m a Tiefling of 23 years.”
“And your companion?”
Irae blinked. She couldn't very well say deity, but was she closest to an elf? A tiefling? She wasn't really like any other species. And she was extremely old, though she was visible around 26 "I'm not planning on drinking." She said simply, hoping it would be accepted.
The human raised a brow at the answer but shrugged and opened the ledger. “Well, as long as you don't have or know of any allergies to certain foods.” he murmured. “Well, we have a room left. But it’s a single.”
“Oh. Umm…” Charlie stammered, casting a glance at Irae.
Irae shrugged. "I don't mind." She said to Charlie. "If it makes you feel better, I'll take the floor."
To the innkeep, she nodded. "No known allergies."
The human nodded giving a shrug at the assurance.
"Uh, no. You're still recovering and just saw a medic." Charlie shook her head. "You get the bed. I'll sleep on the floor. I can use my bedroll."
"So, you ladies want the room?" he asked again.
Charlie sighed. "Yeah, we'll take it."
(my allergy shots were so bad today-)
Irae nodded. She looked around the room again, cursing herself silently for loosing sight of the human who had been watching them. She looked back to where he had been.
If she had not been wearing her hood, Charlie would have run her fingers through her hair as she accepted the key to their room. “Come on. Let's sit down and get something to eat.” she said, keeping her head down, already heading towards the nearest empty table.
(is the guy still there?)
Irae followed her, sitting down. She pulled her hood farther over her face, adjusting her cloak to fully cover her tail. "What should we have to eat? You pick for me, I've never had mortal food before and don't know what would taste good-"
(which guy? The one who they were just talking to? He’s the “check-in” guy behind the counter when people walk in)
Charlie shrugged. “Depends on what they have. It’s… only the middle of the day, right?” she asked, furrowing her brow. She remembered she had been packing up her camp this morning before Irae showed up… but running back and forth to the town, searching for a medic, and watching Daisy take care of Irae… it felt much later than just the middle of the day.
(nah, the human guy who watched them when they walked in)
Irae shrugged. "I wouldn't know, I've been pretty out of it all day-" She glanced outside, taking note of where the sun was. "I'd say midday to mid afternoon?"
(that was the check-in guy. Sorry about any confusion there. It's part of his job watch people come in so he can help them with a room if they need it.)
“Alright.” Charlie nodded. “I guess I've been kinda distracted too. Just for different reasons.” she admitted since she wasn't hurt.
(going to bed, will respond in the morning)
Irae nodded. "It's not everyday you get a goddess dumped in your lap?" She guessed. "I apologize for the inconvenience."
“No, it's not.” Charlie chuckled softly. “But I wouldn't call it an inconvenience. Maybe a little hectic this morning because of the rush to the medic…” she shrugged, “but that's not really your fault either.”
Irae shrugged. "No, it's not. Doesn't make it any less chaotic. Not being at fault dosen't really change anything." She said. "Except for after the cards have fallen and it's time for justice or revenge."
Charlie laughed again. “And both of those fall under your jurisdiction. I can almost imagine how you’re going to get one or the other when you get back.” she grinned, her tail flicking playfully.
Irae grimaced. "Both. I'll get both. But not nearly as much as I want. They'll only be able to face a small amount of my Wraith or they'll try to banish me again."
“What if you spread it out?” Charlie hummed. “Instead of heaping it on all at once… by all means, give them what they expect you to do when you get back. But you have ages to continue getting even with them. Even when they don't remember their actions.” she pointed out.
Irae nodded. "I'm planning on it. It's not nearly as satisfying though." She said, sighing. "We should get food?" She suggested.
Charlie gave a soft hum and shrugged, having no real experience with getting revenge… just ideas on how she would if she did.
“Yes, let’s.” she nodded before waving a half-elf-server over to their table with a bright smile, her tail deliberately flicking and curling like a cats.
Irae kept her hood over her face, watching everyone in the room closely, watching for any potential threats. As the server approached, she watched him closest, but tried not to seem quite as cold.
“Two meat pies, please, cutie.” Charlie purred once the server was close enough to take their order. “And I'll have a cider with mine.” she added before turning to Irae. “Is that okay with you?”
