Control. Power. Obsession. These were things the Darkest Night fueled, these were how it took over you. Jacobi knew that the only reason this parasite kept someone around, was to use them until the well ran dry. He did not want to hurt people, not usually, but Darkest Night took the evil within you and amplified, added to it. Calculating and mathematical was its nature.

He'd come to with his crew, all of whom knew only this parasite side of him. He had to pretend that this was the only side of him. Jacobi Elsie was dead, parasitic urges lived within the husk of his corpse. The parasite chose this crew as it knew that they all had nothing left to lose, and would destroy anything the parasite deemed worthless. Which was everything, basically.

So he nodded to the crew, barked orders at his first mate, and skulked down to the brig where their newest captive was being kept.

Jacobi carefully adjusted his posture, his clothing, making sure the binding of his chest was tight enough to blister and hide the unsightly masses that his chest unfortunately produced for him at puberty. He sighed, knowing that if anyone really knew what he was-half a man, in more ways than just cowardice-he'd certainly face the gallows.

He approached the cell with a detached professionalism. This was just business, just an act to keep up. "Ahem," he said to the crewmate guarding the cell. "I'd like some alone time with my new plaything." As if a person, a living being, was ever truly a plaything of any kind. Jacobi respected life even as he had to take it.

Either way, the crew member scurried off, not wanting to incur any sort of wrath. Jacobi unlocked the cell, and looked to where the princess was chained to the wall, quite literally muzzled and helpless.

He removed the muzzle then stepped back, quickly, in hopes that he'd avoid being bitten. "I apologize for the deception earlier. The red eyed version of my mortal flesh you saw earlier was no friend of mine, and certainly no ally to any force of good." he said.

"I am not who I seem to be, and I would love a chance to explain myself. Would you like me to unchain you?" Jacobi asked, gesturing to the bindings on the princess's wrists and feet.

Emerald immediately snapped at him, almost nipping him. Her gem was hidden, bound up as if it was a wound. On top of the binding of her gem, she wore a simple tunic that hid the bindings, as well as some soft but plain trousers and high boots. Her hair was pulled into a bun, hiding the green, which was under a hat that had slipped slightly, leaving it lopsided.
After hearing him, she looked at him suspiciously. "You'd unchain me? Right after capturing me?" She growled. "What game are you playing?"
She worried for the other sailors that had been on her ship. A guard also disguised, at her parents instance, was almost certainly wounded, as he had tried to fight off the pirates. The other sailors, the crew that normally manned the ship, were under her employ, using the ship for cargo and trade when she wasn't on it. What had become of them? Were they safe?
"What became of the other sailors aboard the ship you captured me from?" She decided to ask. The pirate could lie, sure, but an answer was better than wondering.

"I'm sorry, I don't know. I rarely remember half of the things this hellish body does to people. Look, I'll give it to you outright. I'm being possessed by a demon that makes me do terrible things in the name of chaos and harm for harm's sake." Jacobi said, looking away from the princess with some level of fear in his eyes. "It calls itself "Darkest Night". It is a monster of truly unfathomable power and greed. My eyes may be pale and milky now, but if they go even remotely red, do not say anything to the creature. Reveal nothing about yourself, it will kill you once it has what it wants."
