(I probably won’t have them have to go through a cyclone to get to the wastelands for the sake of. Everyone. And I kinda don’t want to abandon unnamed wolf)

The wolf hesitates herself before following Daphne, sticking decently close to her.

As they leave, they go down a snowy slope with completely toppled and crumbled buildings half-buried beneath the snow. The snow itself abruptly stops and changes to sand up ahead. The sky overhead will soon be covered in dark clouds that cast a green haze over the desert that is the wastelands. There’s barely any cover that can be seen to protect them if Cyrus and the soldiers get past the temple doors any time soon.

Calian looks at the wastelands with a hint of unease. And it seemed to be more than just the fact that it was infested with darkness. They shake their head a bit and walk a little faster.

The group had walked for quite a long time along the sand dunes before they found themselves coming up on an ancient, crumbled fortress made from black stone. There was a large gash in the wall that lead to its inside. Either they go inside, or they find a way around. Looking inside the fortress, it wasn’t much better than outside. But it provided cover, which was a lot better than having none.

(Brain melted,,, here u go)

Resh tilts his head curiously at the fortress. He pokes his head through the gash in the wall, looks around, then slowly steps through into the fortress.

Teth looks at Resh and tilts her head. “What are you doing?” She sighs and rolls her eyes when she gets no answer.

Calian stared at Resh for a second as he entered and then followed him, cursing under their breath. They took out their spear as they looked around the tall fortress. Up ahead, the roof had crumbled away. The view was half-blocked, but they could swear they saw a blue flash of light for just a moment. It’s nothing. I’m paranoid.

Resh has noticed the blue light as well, looking up and blinking a few times. Teth, Daphne, and Tsadi had followed Calian and Resh into the fortress already.

Resh continues looking up, saying something in a language that was just a series of clicks and chitters. His tone sounds like a question.

(turret voice hello?)

The wolf had followed as well, trailing behind the others and watching out for any movement.

Up ahead, there was no response to Resh. As they got closer, the blue light had flashed past the group again. Calian flinched back when they saw it, clearly on edge. They said nothing, however, staying a bit behind Resh.

Resh looks completely unfazed as he looks around. He chitters a second time, a little louder this time.

Daphne looks at Resh, confused and irritated. What is he doing? She glares at him for a moment, then huffs and looks around.

There’s no sound for a while after Resh makes the sound again.

But then, a similar series of clicking and growling is heard. And a large, armor-plated creature showing itself as it appears from behind a fallen stone column. Its lone eye casting the blue light they saw earlier hasn’t seen them. Yet.

Resh looks at the creature, and almost says something else before Daphne elbows him sharply, whisper-shouting at him. “What the hell are you doing? Are you trying to get us killed-?”

Resh looks down at Daphne, confused. “What?”

Teth blinks a few times. “…Resh, you know we aren’t back on the Islands. These things could be dangerous here.” As if it isn’t already insane talking to a Wasteland krill.

Daphne rolls her eyes. “Yeah, no shit- now can we get out of here?”

@Morals-are-for-mortals language

The creature’s growls get a little louder as it moves closer to them. The only cover around them were the stone columns to either side, or to retreat back out of the fortress.

Calian looked around at the scenery—they swore they saw someone’s head pop up from the edge of the crumbled roof on the other side, but that wasn’t important—they made a gesture with their hand to everyone. “We need to hide before that thing sees us-” They sound a little frantic.
