Tseth suddenly looks down at Salmook, wrapped around his leg again. He really wasn’t used to kids, was he? And it looks like Salmook isn’t too convinced by Blaze either. He zones out for a few moments, thinking.
“That’s up to you to determine.” Good enough.

Daphne takes a deep breath and leans back in her chair a little, then looks over at Salmook and Tseth and laughs a little. “Looks like he warmed up to you pretty quickly.”

Daphne tilts her head, an exaggerated look of innocence on her face. “What? I’m just saying.” She grins at Tseth and laughs again, it looks like she’s having fun annoying him.

Salmook whines a little at both of them, loosening his already weak grasp on Tseth-friend's leg.
"Salmook… sorry."
He steps away, letting his arms disappear back into his cloak.
"Me sorry, sorry. Tseth-friend no mad?"

Daphne glances at Salmook and blinks a few times, then looks down and curses in her own language. I should just shut up now. She looks back up at Salmook and Tseth apologetically, then starts fidgeting again.

Salmook looks at both Daph-friend and Tseth-friend. He should be relieved by that, but he's not. Nothing feels right here. Like when a new mushroom grows on a tree you're super familiar with. Salmook's never been told to not apologize.
"Then… what? Me no sorry? Not make sense."

Tseth sighs and looks down at Salmook. “Well you don’t have to apologize if it isn’t your fault. And if I’m not mad, then nothing is your fault to apologize for.” I am never having children.

Salmook wrinkles his nose at that. Yeah, right. He's already gone out on a limb, putting his trust into Tseth-friend and Daph-friend. Asking him to even look at the danger-lady is a bit too much.
"Me have to think about that."
There's the slightest hint of spite in his voice - it's the most he can muster right now. He averts his eyes and yawns. The food's made him feel all heavy and lethargic again, but he's not sure he wants to fall asleep. What if the food also had nightmare-juice in it?

(Just gonna timeskip to the day before the first competition)

Daphne lays in her bed, curled up into a tight ball. She hadn’t slept at all until last night, when she might have slept for a few hours. It’s all a blur to her. She sits up, barely able to keep her eyes open. She look over at the table in her room. It’s just the usual: a plate of food and a change of clothes. She groans and flops back down on the bed, not quite ready to get up.

Salmook groans as he wakes up. Well, sticks. He'd been hoping that just maybe he'd've stayed awake long enough to see them bring his food in. Maybe then, he could escape early. Or at the very least, trap the jabby-person in the room with him. Then, he'd have extra breakfast. Or lunch. Or dinner. He's not sure - his internal clock is WAY off.
He sniffles at the bowl that's been left for him. It's wyrm-meat… he thinks. At least, it's something close to wyrm. The food's a little tough for his liking, and it's sweeter than the wyrm-meat at home, too. Thankfully, the broth is passable, and the stringy vegetables on the side are nice, too. It's an effort to get all the meat down, and Salmook finishes his meal feeling heavy and sleepy like always.
He settles back into his cloak, waiting for… something. He's not sure what that something is yet, but there's only one way to find out.
