Daphne glances up at Tseth and clenches her fists to keep herself from scratching her arm more. She looks a bit frustrated with herself. “Sorry.”
Daphne glances up at Tseth and clenches her fists to keep herself from scratching her arm more. She looks a bit frustrated with herself. “Sorry.”
Blaze steps back from the door and sighs.
She turns to face Daphne and Tseth, considering them.
After a while, she speaks.
"Neither of you have any intention of going along with their plans, do you?" she inquires bluntly.
Tseth stares at Blaze, curious as to where this conversation might lead. “I do not. I’d like to find a way out of this place as soon as possible, and I’d rather find one before they start the whole charade of competitions.” It’s in the best interest to be open to her, and it wouldn’t hurt having her on our side. Though really, it would be more like ‘us being on her side.’
Daphne looks up at Blaze, but says nothing. She instead stares at her warily for a while. She looks down and speaks quietly after a long while. “…No, not really.” She completely agrees with Tseth, but she’s not sure they’ll be able to escape at all, let alone before the competitions.
(What race is Daphne, as a matter of fact? She isn't human, is she?)
(Nœp, She is not- Liz would have an easier time explaining tho 👀)
(That's actually all I needed to hear- though an explanation of the race would be helpful for future plans :)
(oh,, should I be scared)
(Not yet, no.)
Blaze nods, almost as if she had been paying half attention.
She refocuses on Daphne and Tseth.
"I'll need your guys' help with something. There are certain things I can't do, that I'm sure you two can. I'm only human, after all. Even if I am a candidate for a super soldier program, I can't hold a candle to people like you two," she smiles.
"Plus, there's the problem of my eyes," she adds.
(Do you want me to explain,)
(Not yet-)
(Well now I’m even more scared LMAO)
(Liz, in PMs, sure.)
(Ame, yes, not yet. But maybe eventually.)
(Also, my response is on the previous page.)
Tseth tilts his head with interest. He had a suspicion she was using compliments to get them to follow along. Or maybe he was just paranoid. “And what would you need help with?” He did wonder what she meant by “super-soldier,” but now wasn’t the time for idle conversation.
Daphne narrows her eyes at Blaze, but stays silent. She’s clearly worried about saying the wrong thing and being knocked unconscious again. I’ve lost count of how many times it’s happened- all I know is that I don’t want it to happen again. She shudders slightly and huffs at herself. Stop dwelling on it, for Megabird’s sake.
"Creating a map of the facility, and taking care of the staff," Blaze replies coolly. "And I need help in gaining the trust of the others. I started off on the wrong foot here. I would like to clear up one thing with you two first: I am not usually an overly angry person. It is only when I know the lives of many hundreds of thousands of innocents are being risked that I become. . . mindless. It was also the thought that my family, my military comrades and peers, were going to be dying by the dozens because I am not there to rally them that made me truly enraged. I did not mean for anyone to get hurt."
She turns to Daphne.
"For what I did to you, I truly am sorry," she says, kneeling.
Daphne stays silent for a little longer, then sighs. “It’s fine.” She shrugs. “Not the first time I-“ She quickly cuts herself off, clenching her fists again. No, don’t say that, idiot!
Tseth nods in response. “Sounds like you have this all figured out. And I understand your position, as a leader.” If the war were still at a climax back home… no, I’d rather not think about that.
He watches as Blaze kneels in front of Daphne. He still wasn’t completely trusting of her, if at all. But it seems she’s trying. Or she’s trying to gain the trust of everyone so they won’t see a betrayal coming later.
And then he looks at Daphne as she almost makes another joke. Nice one. He shakes his head slightly in response.
Blaze understood where the sentence was going anyways.
"Oh. . ." she says softly. "I didn't know. For that, I am even more apologetic. Anything you ask of me, I will do."
(Tseth shhh she never had braincells)
Daphne looks over at Tseth and shrugs awkwardly, then glances at Blaze. “No- It’s fine, really. I shouldn’t have said anything, anyway-“
Blaze sighs.
"Let me apologize, dammit," she replies.
(hA- tell her Blaze,)
(BAHAHAHAHA)
Daphne huffs at Blaze and rolls her eyes. “Fine.”
Blaze smiles softly, then stands up again.
"Thank you," she says. She gives Daphne a smile that transforms her face from a hard, seasoned warrior to a young girl who truly cares about people. It was a wonder that she was able to keep her tough exterior up with the big softie that she really was.
(sobs in pulling a semi-all-nighter and generally being way too tired to be on notebook until now-)
(pat pat you need sleemp)
Salmook shudders as he comes back to his senses. He'd been hallucinating again, he realizes.
His eyes go sore as he rubs at them. It's not real, he tells himself, but it's not helping much. He tunes back into the others' conversation, trying to relax a little.
Salmook finds himself wrapped around Tseth-friend's leg again, and it helps to comfort him. Salmook's grip isn't too tight, as he's actually pretty drained. If he was home, he'd be wrapped up in his cloak and napping by the firering. He shakes that thought away bitterly and looks up at Tseth-friend.
"Danger-lady? Friend-ly?"
He adds the "-ly" with some harshness. He's not too fond of the danger-lady becoming close to him, even if she is nice now. Who's to say that this isn't a trick?
