The wolf stops and raises their head up, looking at the surrounding forest. They see something in the distance through the trees and continue on at a brisk pace.
(> Shush it’s called ✨being hyper aware of your surroundings✨)
(I mean understandable but also it would be funny)
(what is this thing)
Resh involuntarily lets out a low growl as he follows the wolf. Teth looks up at him, visibly concerned, but decides not to say anything.
(dies)
The wolf looks back at Resh for a moment, tilting their head. They huff and continue walking.
(Look I’m sorry you gave me trust issues with random things like this)
Resh glances at the wolf and stops growling, then huffs and pulls out a knife, fidgeting with it.
The forest opens up into another path. This one looks significantly more used than the other, snow pushed to the sides of the path and footprints in the fresh snow on it.
The wolf jumps down from the short wall of snow separating the path and the forest, waiting for the trio to follow.
Resh and Tsadi barely even notice the short wall of snow, while Teth looks down and blinks a few times before hopping down and catching up with the others.
(lmao ok tall bitches)
(wheeze)
(Teth is constantly thinking the same thing but more angry)
The path continues for a while. It looks like there’s a wooden fence buried under the snow wall, poking out of the sides in some places. It also looks like it hasn’t been unearthed from the snow layer in a while.
(Hey)
(Oh)
(Sorry the words stopped wording uhh)
Teth wraps her cloak around herself again, still not very fond of the cold. She stays near Resh and tries to use him to block some of the wind.
Resh looks down at Teth and sighs, shifting his position to block the wind a little better. “I guess there’s one advantage to being so tiny.”
Teth glares at Resh and elbows him in the side. “Shut up, you’re just overgrown.”
Resh puts his hands up in mock surrender. “Fine, Fine. You’re tiny and I’m overgrown.” He bursts out laughing as Teth elbows him again.
(They’re besties✨)
(Love them for that)
The wolf looks back at the three, slowing down to walk along side them. It’s quite obvious the wolf’s height now, its back reaching just below shoulder-height to Teth. It makes Resh’s statement about being tiny all the more evident.
After a while, the wind does start to die down. It makes the cold just a bit more bearable than before.
Teth looks over at the wolf and crosses her arms. “Really?” She rolls her eyes and huffs.
Resh pats Teth on the head. “That thing would tower over you on its hind legs.”
Teth slaps Resh’s hand when he pats her, glaring at him. “Yeah, no shit-”
(Resh I’m pretty sure it would also tower over you)
(Yes but shhhhh make fun of the tiny person)
The wolf looks over at Resh with a face that could almost say “Is that a challenge?” They huff and shake out their fur, fluffing it out.
In the distance, there looks to be wooden-and-stone pillars with large flames burning on the top. Perhaps the entrance to a city?
Resh laughs a little at the wolf’s expression, then looks over at the pillars in the distance. That’s a good sign.
Teth shakes her head at Resh and the wolf, then fidgets with one of her braids as she looks at the pillars. “Oh- good. That looks like a city.”
The wolf growls slightly at the sight of the pillars, but stays with the group.
The closer they get, more details are revealed. The city is seemingly surrounded by a stone wall, with a gate wide open for people coming and going. There are two guards posted at the gate, with the same military uniforms and golden masks covering their faces as the ones from earlier. The same “capes” as well, that resemble mantas.
Resh stiffens a bit when he sees the guards at the gate. He clenches and unclenches his fists a few times, wanting to keep a hand on his sword but knowing that it would be a bad idea. Tsadi and Teth also look a bit on edge.
The guards eye them for a moment as they come closer. One of them eyes Tsadi and Resh’s weapons, but doesn’t comment. The other seems more interested in the wolf walking with them.
The wolf snarls at the guard, and they quickly look forward again.
Resh growls slightly, watching one of the guards while Tsadi watches the other. Resh just seems incredibly anxious, while both Tsadi and Teth look nervous and angry at the same time.
(geez not a fan ok)
(That’s understandable I don’t like the manta military anyway)
(Also their first interaction with mnata was not great,)
They pass through without problems. The city itself isn’t too much to look at on the outskirts, small stone and wood houses built in a similar fashion to the fire pillars at the entrance. Their doors are covered by a thick cloth overhang covered in snow like everything else. There’s very few people around here, but the main path they’re on leads deeper into the city and has been well-traveled.
