Resh takes a deep breath as he steps outside. Just like home. Or… my former home. He looks happy, but also a little sad.

Teth shivers and wraps her cloak around herself. “How do you not freeze to death in this weather?”

Resh looks down at Teth. “When you live in cold weather for so long, you kind of get used to it.”

Teth sighs. “Let’s just keep moving. It’ll keep us a little warmer.”

The path continues on for a while. As the trees disappear the snow starts to build up. In the near-distance, mountains rise high over the horizon. Large patches of evergreen trees grow on them, concentrating on the bottom and spreading to the flat ground below. They seem much smaller than the towering trees of the forest they were just in. The path seems to move into the Evergreen forest.

Resh looks around. “I remember I would race down mountains almost every day… surprised that I never broke a bone. I’ve gotten a few sprains, though…” He seems to be partially talking to himself.

Teth listens intently to Resh, grateful for anything that would distract her from the cold. She starts walking a bit faster than normal.

(I could listen to Resh talk to himself all day this man is very interesting)

The wind picks up, making the cold just that much more biting. The sky above starts to turn grey with clouds. The forest is much closer now, promising a shield from the winds.

Teth huffs. “Why is it so cold-

Resh pats Teth on the head, and she slaps his hand away. “Oh, stop it. You’ll live.”

Tsadi stays silent, following the group and looking around a bit.

The forest is extremely silent compared to the other one. There were less creature noises, and the snow fell quietly. There’s the occasional sound of piled up snow on the trees becoming too heavy, and falling off the branches in a powdery downfall. Not something you’d want to be under if you wanted to keep warm.

Tsadi and Resh start walking on either side of Teth, trying to block some of the wind from her. Mostly so she stops complaining about the cold. Resh pulls his hood over his head and stares at the ground, starting to zone out slightly.

Teth stays quiet for a while. Complaining about the cold won’t make it go away, probably.

(HAHA-)

The trio soon stumble across an abandoned village in the middle of a large clearing. The houses are made from wood and stone. Despite the empty streets and unlit houses, there are footprints in the snow. Relatively fresh ones too, given they haven’t been blown over and erased yet.

Teth notices the footprints in the snow. Huh. That’s weird… in an abandoned place like this? She shrugs it off and keeps walking, staying a little behind Resh this time.

Resh continues staring at the ground and mumbling to himself, lost in his own thoughts. As the trio quickly walks deeper into the abandoned village, Resh’s thoughts are interrupted when he walks right into someone. He stumbles backwards a bit. “Ah- shit, sorry-“ He looks up and blinks a few times, clearly startled.

(I summon thee,,)

(rat man)

The man swiftly turns around when Resh walks into him. He has a spear put away on his back. He looks angry for a moment, before going to a neutral but somehow still pissed-off expression. He looks Resh dead in the eye. “Apology accepted. What are you doing in this village?” He seems to have an air of authority.

@the-void-galactic public

Resh raises his eyebrows slightly, crossing his arms. I can already tell this is gonna be absolutely wonderful. “I could ask you the same question, sir.”

Teth sighs. “We were just passing through.”

@Morals-are-for-mortals language

The man looks at the three of them, expression unchanging. “You do not have the authority to ask me that question. This is the middle of a military operation, so I suggest you pass through a different way.” His voice had a threatening undertone to it.

Resh nods, narrowing his eyes slightly. “Mhmm… you’re not very mentally stable, are you?”

Teth elbows Resh. “You can’t just say that-!

Resh ignores Teth and tilts his head.

Resh tilts his head upward slightly, rolling his eyes. He glances down at the man. “No, actually, I don’t. Would you care to enlighten me?” His tone is clearly sarcastic.
