Kaillas most certainly did not believe that lie. His little wife was being cheeky with him. But instead of pressing the issue, he let it go. For now that was. He was just enjoying the presence of her in his arms.
Ophelia leaned forward to kiss him and he couldn't help but feel his heart soar. It hadn't been all that long ago when she had been nervous to kiss him, let alone initiate. Even if he had egged her on. He released a soft sigh as he felt her lips on his, eyes closing. Heaven. This was heaven.
His hands slowly slid up her thighs, pulling at her skirts until his hands rested on her hips. Her skirts had been pulled up to her knees and it made it easier to stand between her legs. He liked kissing her, he decided. He liked kissing her more than anything else he had ever done. He might perhaps like it more than training. And he loved training.
He slipped one hand behind her neck, hands slipping through the strands of her braid. "You're insatiable," he murmured. "I have a feeling I'm not going to get a lot of work done with you around." And he wouldn't be complaining about it either. And this was only with them kissing. He couldn't imagine what their life was going to be like when they were finally carnal.
Ophelia has certainly gotten much more comfortable around him. She appreciates that he takes so much care and consideration into making sure that she's okay with what he's doing. It's really helped her to open up and be more relaxed and confident around him.
The several layers of her dress, even as simple as it is, gets in the way. She wishes that her outfits didn't have to be so complicated. Part of her just wants to take it off so it's not so bothersome but she knows that's not an option. Not right now at least.
She smiled against his lips, her voice slightly breathless as she responded, "Perhaps I am insatiable when it comes to you, my love. But rest assured, I will do my best to not be too much of a distraction." Her fingers lightly traced the nape of his neck, reveling in the sensation of his touch.
A soft chuckle escapes her lips when she hears him, playfulness in her eyes. "Won't it be nice for you to have a distraction from all of your work? You don't want to spend all of your time cooped up and being miserable, do you?"
His thumb caressed the nape of her neck, his fingers tangled in her hair. He was likely ruining that pretty little braid of her but he couldn't find it in him to care.
"Hmm, that doesn't sound very truthful wife. I think you enjoy distracting me." He kissed her once, slowly, before drawing back. "And as wonderful as that proposition sounds, I will need to eventually get work done. I do have a country to run."
He smiled against her lips as he leaned in once more. He couldn't get enough of her. He was addicted. Or cast by a spell. He coukdnr decide which one sounded more probable.
"I have full faith you'll keep me more than occupied." He pulled just far away enough to gaze down at her. His eyes flickered once more to the marks on her neck. He wouks never tire of looking those. Though perhaps the next ones he'll make would be in place more easily concealed. He didn't wish to make a full of her at court.
Laughing a bit at Kaillas's playful accusation, she shakes her head. "Guilty as charged, dear husband," She admits, knowing fully well that she enjoys being a distraction. "I suppose I'll let you get some work done," She assures him, knowing that she can't keep his attention all to herself.
Feeling his fingers running though her hair, she knows that her braid is as good as ruined. That's alright with her. She's happy to sacrifice her braid if it means that he's enjoying himself.
She revels in the warmth of his smile against her lips, the intoxicating taste of his kiss fueling her desire for more. Pulling away from the kiss, she takes a breath. She lifts her hand and brushes her thumb across his cheek lightly.
"I am more than happy to keep you occupied." As his gaze flickers to the marks on her neck, she follows his line of sight, a slight blush coloring her cheeks. The ones on her neck are on full display. She's hopeful that they'll fade before they have to go back to the palace. The last thing she wants is for the ladies of the court to see them. That would be the cause of some nasty gossip.
Kaillas leaned his cheek into her hand, his eyes shutting at the feeling. He had to forced himself to relax as she touched his scar. It was an unusual feeling to him and he had always been so guarded. He didn't even let his sisters touch it when they had been curious in their younger days. He remembered making Katya cry for snatching her hand before she could touch it.
He opened his eyes to smile down at her. He had no doubt in his mind she would find wicked ways to keep him distracted from his work. He couldn't wait for her to do such things.
He gripped her hips as he pulled back in for another kiss. He nipped at her bottom lip once more, a small tease, before kissing her gently. He knew better than to engage in anything near what they had at the beach. Je woukd risk taking it too far. But that didn't mean he couldn't tease her alittle bit. Unfortunately, they were interrupted before anything coukd go any further.
Kaillas had never fully closed the door behind them. He had left it half way open. And a maid had come to fetch them for dinner. She hadn't been expecting to walk in on such a scene. She let out a startled gasp before dipping into a deep curtsy. "Oh, Your Majesties." She trained her eyes to the floor. "Um, the cooks wanted me to inform you that dinner is ready."
Ophelia feels Kaillas's grip on her hips tighten, loving the feeling. She reciprocates the passion of his kiss, savoring the taste of his lips against hers. The small nip on her bottom lip sends a thrill through her. Things got intense in the cave but this is simple and fun. She knows that it won't go any further than what they're doing and she's alright with that.
Their moment of intimacy is abruptly interrupted by the door opening and the presence of the maid, whose startled gasp shattered the bubble of their private world.
Startled, she quickly disentangled herself from his embrace, her cheeks flushing with a mixture of embarrassment. She yanks her skirts down to cover herself up properly, just wanting to just disappear. Being caught in such a vulnerable position is utterly mortifying. She thought that they were alone and safe to enjoy each other's company in private. Clearly she was wrong.
Not really sure what else to do, she manages to mumble out a 'thanks', refusing to so much as look at the maid. Naturally, she feels terrible that the maid had to witness this. It's not a pleasant experience for anyone. At least now she's learned that locks are a necessity. It's a mistake she won't make twice.
Kaillas pulled back from the kiss, startled at the intrusion. He turned his head to look at the maid behind him, not lossejing his grip or stepping away from Ophelia. One, he wasn't doing anything wrong. He was simply giving his wife affections. And secondly, he was trying to block her from view as much as possible to save her from the embarrassment.
He watched as the maid scrambled out after delivering the message. He turned his head back to Ophelia, trying and failing to contain his laugh. He dipped his head and hid it in her neck as his shoulder shook with his laughter.
He gathered himself pulled his head out if her neck. Amusement laced his eyes. He cupped her cheek and kissed the top of her head. "I think dinner is ready."
He stepped away from her, straightening his shirt and giving her a moment to collect herself. He outstretched his hand towards her for her to take and led her outside of the room. "Next time, we're closing the door."
Ophelia has nearly died. This is the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to her. She’ll never be able to look that maid in the eyes again. She presses her face against Kaillas’s shoulder, utterly humiliated right now. She doesn’t know what she did to deserve that but the universe must have it out for her.
What catches her off guard is the laughter. She didn’t expect him to be nearly as embarrassed as she is but laughing isn’t what she expecting either. Though she’s not sure how he can possibly find this funny, she lets him carry on. It gives her a chance to compose herself a little.
“Really? What gave you that idea?” She asks, giving him a pinning look. Her tone isn’t stern in the slightest but the sarcasm is thick. Hopping off of the desk carefully, she grabs his hand so they can go. She just wants to forget about this whole thing.
With a quiet huff, she follows him out of the room and down the hall. Hopefully dinner will prove to be uneventful. “Next time, we’re locking the door.”
Kaillas chuckled at her words. It dripped in sarcasm and gave her an insight to the woman beneath the surface. He squeezed her hand, trying to provide a bit of comfort, even after he had laughed at her.
"Noted. We'll lock the door tonight." He had plans to woo her. Of course he wouldn't go much further than a little fondling. But in the comfort and safety if their bedroom, she might feel more comfortable and open to receiving such affections. Slowly but surely. He had a month until her twentieth birthday. He could bide his time untim then.
He followed the smell of lobster until they were out at back door and faced with iron chairs and table. Cushions were set on the seat and back of the chair to add comfort. He pulled out a seat for Ophelia to take before sitting down next to her.
"I hope you like seafood," he said. "If not, I'm sure the chef can prepare soemthunf else quickly."
Ophelia glances over to him when he says that they’ll lock the door tonight. That implies that he’s got something up his sleeve. She has to admit that she’s curious. As long as she makes sure that the door is locked, she’ll be able to relax and enjoy herself. Being interrupted was terrible and embarrassing.
As they reach the outdoor dining area, she takes in the pleasant surroundings. The scent of lobster makes her stomach growl in anticipation. She smiles at Kaillas as he pulled out a seat for her, gracefully taking her place before he sits down beside her.
"Seafood is rather rare in my kingdom so I havent tried much of it. I did enjoy what I have tasted,” She replies, though very interested in trying whatever has been prepared. Another downside to being from a landlocked kingdom is that all seafood is imported. It’s a rarity to have, even for the royal family.
She looks around the area, glad that they decided to eat outside. The weather is still absolutely perfect and nothing can beat that view.
Kaillas nodded his head. He grabbed her plate with lobster and began taking the shell off for her. He placed the shell on a separate plate and left the meat on the plate with her. He pushed the plate back to her after dishing up a small serving of ceased salad.
"If you don't like it we can make something else for you. It won't be a problem." Lobster was one of the few seafood that he did like. He was picky when it came to fish. Certain textures and aftertaste set him off. Lobster tasted just find to him.
The sun was setting in the sky, hues of orange and red and yellow bouncing off of the water. It was a beautiful sight. That combined with the slight breeze, it was a beautiful night to dine outside.
He waited for her to take her first bite. He had a maid on standbys ready to go to the kitchens to ask for a new dish if she didn't like it.
Ophelia watches curiously as he prepares the lobster meat for her. She certainly appreciates it since she doesn’t know what to do. The seafood she has tried has been fish, a few shrimp, and scallops one time when she was pretty young. The lobster looks….interesting. She’s willing to give it a try though.
“I’m sure it’ll be wonderful. There won’t be a need to bother the chefs.” It won’t be fair to have those working in the kitchen make an entirely new meal for her. They’ve already worked so hard on this food. She refuses to be bothersome.
She picks up a piece of lobster on her fork and takes a bite. It throws her off for a second since the texture is new. After a moment of chewing, she hums in approval. “This is wonderful!” The lobster is flavorful and delicious. She’s glad that she was able to try something new.
As she eats, she gazes out at the water. The beautiful orange and red of the sunset paints the sky brilliantly. She’s seen many sunsets before but none have been this beautiful. The light and colors reflecting off of the water is gorgeous.
Kaillas watched as she took her first bite, nervous almost about chosing this meal. Perhaps he should have checked with her before signing off on the menu. But then she let out a sound of delight and his should dropped as the tension washed away.
He offered her a smile before taking his first bite. "I am glad that you like it. There's an abundance of seafood here. The chef will make you anything you desire. Especially when I am not so fond of most seafood." The cooks would be delighted to be able to prep gourmet seafood. Someone to finally appreciate it.
He couldn't help but notice how the sunset reflected off of her hair. How it made her skin glow. She looked beautiful in the golden hour. He was awestruck and it wouldn't go unnoticed. The few staff members around them were hardly containing their smiles at the glow of their young king. Ut was the first signs of love. They were happy for him. This royal family needed something good in their lives after so much damage.
Ophelia returns Kaillas' smile, her eyes sparkling with delight. She takes another bite of the delicious meal, savoring the flavors that dance on her tongue. It’s a shame that she’s had to miss out on something so wonderful for so long.
"You should have the chefs make what you like,” She comments, surprised that he would choose seafood for the menu when he isn’t a fan. She really isn’t a picky eater so she would be happy with just about anything that is served to her. There are a few select items she doesn’t like but she’ll still eat them.
She reaches across the table and gently places her hand on top of his. Despite her initial concerns, this marriage is turning out to be the best thing to ever happen to her. She is well aware of the staff members trying to discreetly watch them but she pays them no mind. This moment is about her and Kaillas.
As the golden hour paints the surroundings with a soft, warm glow, she notices the way Kaillas is looking at her. Her husband looks awestruck. Being looked at in such a way feels unreal. She feels her cheeks flush slightly, happy that she’s so appreciated.
Kaillas simply shrugged a shoulder, taking a bite of his salad. "I still want you to be able to enjoy foods you like even if I do not." Most foods did not bother him but there were a select few, such as seafood, the he would not eat. But given the circumstances, he would eat even that.
He supposed it stemmed from his time in the army. You ate what you were given or you didn't eat at all. He leaned to overcome that very quickly. Between a mix of the bullying and the starving, he learned to eat what was served.
He looked down at the hand over his then raised his eyes to Ophelia. He smiled gently at her before pushed back the chair and tugging at her arm until he was seated on his lap.
He would not usually be so affectionate but this was his honeymoon. He wanted to enjoy it while it lasted. And there was very few staff around. The two that were standing there he sent away with a flick of his hand. They could come back to clean after the couple had left the table.
“I like most foods. There are very few that I don’t enjoy so you don’t need to suffer and eat something you don’t like,” She assures him. The seafood is wonderful and she’d still like to eat it on occasion but she doesn’t want him to have to eat something he doesn’t like. It’s unfair and unnecessary.
She moves over when he tugs at his arm, going along with whatever it is that he’s wanting to do. She hums happily as she settles herself on his lap. Luckily, he sends the staff away so they can have them moment to themselves. It’s awkward when there are people around watching them.
“It’s so pretty out here,” She comments softly as she looks out at the sky. The sun has nearly disappeared on the horizon, the last of the oranges and reds slowly fading away. The sunset was gorgeous. Eating out here was a wonderful idea and she’s glad they did it.
Kaillas heard the click of the door behind them and then they were truly in peace. Even if there was a guard or two patrolling the grounds, it was as private as they would get until they retired to their room. He placed one hand around her midriff and the other stroking her arm. He pressed a gentle kiss to the side of her head before settling back against the chair.
"It is," he murmured but he wasn't looking at the scenery, he was looking at Ophelia. God he was whipped. At least he could admit it.
He gave her a small squeeze before resting his head against hers. He enjoyed the silent if the evening as they watched the setting sun. It was beautiful and calm and peaceful. The beach looked beautiful and his woman was with him.
But as lovely as it was, he couldn't help but feel the dread sinking in. He felt like this was only the calm before the storm hit.
Ophelia leans into Kaillas's touch, feeling relaxed and happy right now. She pays no mind to the guards as they check in on them. As she watches the sun dip below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the beach, a peaceful silence settles between them. The rhythmic sound of waves crashing against the shore provides a soothing backdrop.
Sensing a slight tension in Kaillas, she turns her head to meet his gaze. Though he seems seems peaceful on the outside, she can tell that something is bothering him. She hopes that it’s nothing serious.
"What's on your mind?" She asks softly, reaching up and gently cupping his cheek. "You seem troubled. Is something bothering you?"
She knows that she hasn’t known Kaillas for very long but she knows him well enough to tell when sowmthing is weighing on his mind. She’d like to help if she can.
Kaillas raised a hand to grip her wrist. He turned his head to place a gentle kiss to her palm. It gave him a moment to think. He was half tempted to say he was fine and nothing was the matter. But he also didn't want to base his relationship off of lies.
His thumb rubbed the inside of his wrist. "I rarely get a moment of peace. It makes it hard to learn to relax." It wasn't a lie but not necessarily the full truth. He didn't want to worry her over nothing.
He released her wrist to wrap his arms around her. "There's nothing to worry about. I'm just a worrier. Don't let me rub off on you darling."
The last bit of the sun disappeared below the sea level. All that was left was the last remnants of the light but even that to soon disappeared. "Are you ready to go inside?"
Ophelia appreciates that he’s willing to open up a little. She does hope that one day he’ll feel comfortable sharing his full thoughts with her. She wants him to be able to talk about his thoughts and feelings with her freely. She can help with some things, she certain of that.
“I’m sorry that you don’t get much time to relax. At least you’ve got this whole week free of responsibilities,” She offers softly, hoping to put his mind to ease. She knows that it’s not much but at least it’s a break.
As darkness settles in around them, she turns her gaze towards the fading light on the horizon. She sighs softly and then turns back to Kaillas, a small smile playing on her lips.
"I think it's time," She agrees, her voice carrying a hint of anticipation. "Let's go inside and get away from everyone for awhile." Though their day has been pretty quiet, they’ve still been constantly watched and interrupted.
With a final squeeze of his hand, she stands up and extends her hand toward Kaillas, inviting him to join her as they heads back indoors to retire for the evening.
Kaillas tried his best not to show that he believed she just put a jinx on their week long vacation. He hoped his smile didn't betray him. He tired not to believe in superstition but any time anyone has ever mention having a quiet day, something always happened.
He tapped hee side as she hoped off of his lap and he stood behind her. He took her hand, leading her back inside the estate. This was the first time that he wasn't carrying her up the stairs. He debated doing it anyways be finally decided against it.
As they made it to the top of the stairs, he turned to Ophelia. "Do you want to stop in your room to change?" He hesitated before speaking again. "Or would you like to sleep in one of my shirts tonight?"
Looking at her, his shirts would certainly drown her. He was almost a foot taller than her. It might be amusing to see her in one of his shirts. Now he was looking forward to it. And not just because he wanted to see her in his clothes.
(Sorry I haven't been on much. Cramping like a bitch today.)
Ophelia has no belief in jinxes so she isn’t worried. Though she does hope that their vacation remains relaxing and peaceful. She’ll pout for a full year if they have to leave early. This week will be their only chance for awhile to spend time together completely unburdened from responsibilities. She doesn’t want that ruined.
Following him into the house, she makes note that all of the staff, sans the guards, seem to be wrapping up for the evening. She can’t blame them for wanting to crawl into their beds and get some sleep. It’ll be a crazy week and rest will be necessary.
She fully plans on stepping into her room to change until she hears his offer. “I’d be happy to sleep in one of your shirt. However, I must warn you that you may not get it back,” She says with a light laugh, only partially joking about that. If the shirt is comfortable, she will steal it.
The look on his face when he offers to let her wear one of his shirts is what has her agreeing so quickly. It’s something simple and she’s happy to do it for him. Besides, she’s quite certain that it will be just as, if not more, comfortable than one of her nightgowns.
(Oh man I’m sorry! I know that sucks!! Try some peppermint tea and a heating pad. That’s usually what helps me the most. That and a shit load of Advil of course lol)
Kaillas had no intentions of ever getting his shirt back. At least not without replacing the shirt with another. And he certianly wouldn't sleep in that said shirt to surround himself with her natural scent. No, he would never do anything like that.
He walked past her door and tugged her straight into his. He pulled a shirt out of the closet and handed it to her. "Go get changed in the bathroom and get ready for bed." It would take him less than a minute to dress for bed. By giving her the bathroom she coukd take her time getting ready instead of being rushed by him.
After the bathroom door shut, he stripped out of all of his clothes, wishing for a moment that he could just got to bed without clothes. With a sigh, he slipped on his sleep pants and a light shirt.
He sat down on the bed, waiting for the click of the door opening. He was leaning back on his palm, staring at the wall when the door opened. He turned his head back and froze.
(I've been taking midol all day)
Following him past the door to her room and into his, she takes a quick second to look around a little more. Their late arrival gave her barely any time to take it all in. Oh well, she supposes that she can always look around properly tomorrow when its not time for bed. They’ve got a whole week here for her to be nosy after all.
“Yes sir,” She says with an amused hum, heading for the bathroom after collecting his shirt. It won’t take her very long to get ready. Her nighttime routine is quick and simple. She steps into the bathroom and shuts the door behind her so she can get changed.
She strips out of her day clothes, leaving them in a neat pile on the counter. She isn’t sure what else to do with them. Then she tugs on the shirt, unable to resist inhaling Kaillas’s scent. She’s definitely not giving this back to him. Seeing as he messed up her braid early, she lets her hair down and runs the brush through it quickly. She won’t pull it back up til tomorrow.
After finishing the rest of her little routine, she cracks the door open. She makes sure that her husband is decent before stepping out into the room to join him.
(Has it been helping at all?)
(Sorry man. Hopefully it’ll get better soon)
