???: it draws a slow breath. clearly the answer is no, but it won't outright admit that. instead it steps closer and into a patch of sunlight.
Salmook: his face lights up - that's his pater! he rushes up to the man and hugs him tightly. "Pater! I missed you so-so much!"
Rhiv: the menace in his expression melts away, and he returns Salmook's hug. however, as quickly as his smile appears, it's gone. he looks back up at Resh and Tseth specifically, shooting them a death-glare. "They… they didn't hurt you, did they, Mookster?"
he's concerned for his child's well-being, of course, but his tone suggests more of a threat against the others.
Resh: He stares dead at Rhiv, showing nothing in his expression. “Well, if either of us had wanted to hurt the child, he would probably be dead by now.”
(that is not how you comfort a father, Resh-)

Tseth: He shoots a glare at Resh, before turning his attention back to Rhiv. "I can assure you, we wouldn't dare. If anything we'd like to keep him safe."
Alex: He edges closer to the group, getting a better look at Rhiv.

Rhiv: he doesn't look at all convinced… or maybe that's just his resting face. it's hard to tell - he's not all that expressive. he turns his attention back to Salmook, carrying the kid in his arms. "Are you sure, Mook? Promise?"
Salmook: he grins and hugs his pater's neck "I promise-promise. They're… friends…?"
he hesitates, and then nods. "Yeah, yeah. They're my friends. And they can be yours too."
Rhiv: he scoffs. yeah, we'll see about that…
(he's a good dad he's just hyper protective I swear this isn't another Kleptomaniac chat situation-)
Resh: He looks at Tseth and mouths ‘what?’ before turning his attention back to Rhiv.
Juni: She looks around at everyone, then climbs up a tree and hides in the foliage.
Alex: He looks between Salmook and Rhiv. He seems nice enough to Salmook, and definitely acts like a father to him. "If you don't mind me asking, what was your name again? Pater?"
Tseth: He gestures vaguely to Rhiv and Salmook, before shading his head and making a 'nevermind' gesture.

Rhiv: he shakes his head at Alex. "No, my name is-" he stops himself, his expression becoming more grim. he grunts before continuing. "Rhiv is fine."
Salmook: he pulls something out of Rhiv's pocket - a small wooden toy. he turns to Alex, fidgeting with it. Rhiv doesn't seem to mind.
"I just call him Pater because he's my pater. It's a special, special nickname for me only."

Resh: He gestures confusedly (and aggressively) at Tseth, then sighs and rolls his eyes.
Juni: She peeks out of the foliage a bit, her pupils slightly dilated.
Parvus: He stares at the newcomer, then runs up to him and starts squawking.
(Me who uses Latin as a language for one of our species: OH HEY)
Alex: Then what's a pater- "Ah. Good to meet you then Rhiv. I'm Alex."
Tseth: He makes a weird face at Resh, before turning his attention to Rhiv again. "You can call me Tseth."
Rhiv: on instinct, he almost kicks Parvus like a rock, but he restrains himself. he glances at Salmook, pointing at Parvus.
"Is… that another… 'friend?' "
Salmook: he shrugs. he's not as defensive of Parvus as he is with Resh, Tseth, and everyone else. "I think so. He found us food."
Rhiv: he sighs, lowering Salmook to the ground. Alex and Tseth have introduced themselves, but the other two..? he's not sure how to feel about them yet. his hand drifts to his belt. he's armed, just in case he needs to be.
Tseth: Touch Parvus and die thank you. "Ah-" He crouches down on the ground, signaling Parvus to come to him. "Parvus, be careful."
Parvus: He tilts his head at Rhiv, then looks at Tseth and runs over to him, bumping his hand with his head.
Juni: She watches Rhiv from her tree, feeling very nervous.
Resh: He huffs at Tseth, then looks at Rhiv. “I’m Resh Corvus.”
Rhiv: he takes in the surrounding forest. if Salmook is so convinced that these… "people" are safe, then maybe he should relax? relaxing isn't really his thing. not until Salmook is 100% safe, at least, but he doubts that'll happen… wherever here is. he offers his hand to Salmook. "I don't suppose any of you live here, do you?"
Salmook: he takes his pater's hand and shakes his head. "No, no – we… we're all looking for a way home."
Rhiv: he tilts his head. they've become "friends" this fast? it felt as though Salmook had only missing for a few minutes. maybe time here is different? that's not confusing. "Oh? And you've any ideas yet?"
Tseth: He smiles and scratches Parvus's chin, before standing back up. "The only local people we found were hostile, so anyone who does live here shouldn't be trusted."
