As the sword scraped on the floor, Jake's eyes widened at that, his eyes following Bane as he circled him, though he didn't move, not an inch. Jake was indeed nervous, he seemed very on edge with the whole circling and sword scraping against the ground, it put him in fight mode, very alert now.
It was like an enemy sizing him up, taunting him. At the whisper a shiver ran down Jake's spine, hair standing on edge. He seemed to snap at that. Not at Bane, but mentally snap, something that happened when he was in a fight to the death with an enemy. He kept his composure but his eyes reflected something new, something a little more daring.

Jake didn't seem to be too lost on Bane's teaching, following his movements. The thing about Jake was, he didn't need to learn anything, he relied on his pure instinct. Whether he knew how to handle a sword or not, it would come down to Jake's reaction time and if he could keep up. Jake had never fought someone like Bane before, so this was going to prove to be challenging. Nexus' training? Harsh. So harsh he would either pass out or throw up. He expected no different here, though, the time limit given was something that relieved Jake a little.

A little small fact about Jake was…he didn't know when to stop. He was very competitive so if he lost, he'd most likely ask Bane again and again for a rematch until he landed a hit or was able to do some considerable damage. Jake was the type of person to keep going no matter how hurt he was and if his injuries were fatal, it's how he had been trained since he was a kid. He didn't take failure well. He couldn't fail. It was the one thing that had been hammered into him until there was nothing there but that single line of thought keeping him going.

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

Bane had sized up Jake. He was skinny and short. He would be taken down easily, especially if Jake couldn’t keep up with the hound. And he expected Jake to fall short. The recruit was inexperienced with a sword. He could tell by the way he held it. Bane, however, would not correct him. It would come with time. He noticed the shifts in Jake’s face, his fight or flight kicked in. The boy’s body straightened, Bane watching with every move as he circled Jake. He resembled a vulture circling its rotting prey. He had seen everything he needed, returning to the point, and getting close to Jake. His ear twitched, Jake’s nervousness coming to his sense. But also sensed his cocky, painfulness. 120 minutes. Enough time to teach this kid a lesson. Bane didn’t let his plan show on his face. There were no tale-tell emotions, but focus. If this kid was so confident in himself, Bane would put him to the test.

Bane’s mentality developed further as he tried to show Jake the basics. He noticed the kid’s attitude, his mentality. His gaze landed on Jake’s face, one of a bored teen in school. He followed Bane’s steps, but didn’t seem to learn anything. Reinforcing his decision, Bane figured Jake needed to be humbled, to be put in place. He couldn’t have known. He grabbed Jake’s hand, adjusting his hold, almost as if he was helping. In reality, he was fucking him over. He positioned the sword if such a way, Bane pulled Jake’s arm back, and the butt of the weapon hit him in the lower jaw. Bane let the shadows consume him, the cold abyss running across his skin and absorbing his finger. He disappeared, reappearing across from Jake, quite a distance away. He was snickering. “No questions. We’re fighting now. You seem to know everything.” Bane rushed in, covering the distance quickly. He lifted the sword over his right shoulder, bringing it down with a heavy force towards Jake’s side.

Jax looked up, and his jaw tightened. Bane couldn’t be serious. Jake was merely a recruit.

@Dayzed local_movies

Jake was on edge the entire time Bane taught him how to handle the weapon in his hand. He knew things could flip on a dime and he was not about to have the lower hand in case something happened. When Bane got close to him, he tense slightly but allowed him to adjust his position with the sword. That was his first mistake, before he realized it, Bane had jerked his arm back, and the handle had hit him. Jake stumbled back, but in almost a split second notice, he gripped the sword firmly and swung behind him, though, at that point Bane was already gone and in front of him now. His aim was deadly and accurate, though, he had missed.
Jake snapped his attention back to face Bane again, and when he announced they were fighting Jake seemed to have a determined look on his face, though there was something new written on his face, something like a realization. This person wasn't exactly all human.
"Know everything?!" Jake exclaimed, eyes growing wide. Bane was in front of him before Jake could even react, a wide surprised look in his eyes, something akin to terror on his face.
He looked up to see the sword come down on him, Jake immediately went to block it with the sword, but his technic was anything but great. Because of how forceful Bane was being, the sword twisted out of his hands and it fell to the floor with a clang! that echoed through the room. It was only then that Jake realized how in danger he was. This was new. He had never fought someone who wasn't entirely human, Bane clearly had the upper hand, but that didn't mean Jake was backing down.

Okay, maybe for now he was, it was good to know when to cut your losses, so instead of aiming for grabbing the sword again, he quickly dodged underneath Bane before he could land a hit him again.
He managed to get behind Bane, but without a weapon, he was useless. His eyes darted to the sword on the floor. He needed to grab that, but Bane was basically guarding it at this point. When he made a move. That's when he'd grab it. Surely Bane would come at him again and that's when Jake would take his chance.

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

Bane watched Jake pathetically swing the sword, slashing the air. Of course, he wasn’t there. He could use the shadows to teleport, a specialty of his. A guttural laugh came from deep in his chest, his eyes focused on the target at hand. Jake. He had fooled his target, making them fall into the pit of trust. When Bane declared he was Jake’s enemy for 120 minutes, Jake should have kept a tight hold on every action, every movement. He would not go easy. He had covered the distance between Jake and him easily, jumping upon the recruit with great strength. Bane pushed against Jake’s sword, leaning all of his body weight into disarming the other. He could see Jake’s grip. It was awful. It was clear the kid didn’t know how to parry well. Bane figured he should let up, but he still pushed against the other.

Bane snarled, Jake’s weapon dropping out of his hold. The kid could keep his hold anymore, and that is what Bane was counting on. He stepped back, avoiding slicing Jake’s throat open. Glaring at the sword, he let the smaller roll underneath him to get away from the hound’s attack. Bane knew how to simulate a battle well. Though he allowed his opponent to get away with a few things, considering this was training. Almost like a pre-test. Bane bent down, picking up the sword Jake dropped, duel welding while his opponent was weaponless. He snarled, turning to face Jake. It seemed like the end of the road for the kid — that was, until Bane threw the sword at Jake’s feet, giving him the count of five to recover the weapon. He was giving Jake a fair advantage. However, he would need to learn how to delegate in situations like this. Once Jake recovered his weapon, Bane rushed forward, aiming for Jake’s feet. Although, this was a feint. When he closed the distance, he quickly switched objectives, baring his sword down on Jake's left shoulder. If it connected, Bane situated the attack, so it would cause a minor cut. Not a gaping wound.

Jax sat up straight, biting his tongue. This was too much. Bane should tone it down. He could injure someone. His shoulders tensed as Bane picked up the dropped weapon, a lump forming in his throat. He was going to kill Jake. Only when Bane threw the sword back to Jake did Jax finally relax.

@Dayzed local_movies

Jake may have looked terrified, but he knew that Bane was taking it easy on him. He was, untrained after all and Jake was a hundred percent sure Bane could have killed him by now. This was training, training, so why did it feel like he was fighting to the death with someone?! Jake had fear written all over him, but not for the fear of getting hurt or even dying. It was something else, maybe a small portion of that was being scared of dying, but not for the reasons one would think.
Because Bane caught Jake eyeing the sword and picked it up, Jake cursed under his breath at that. Fuck, now what? In a real fight there would be no free handouts like this, so when Bane threw the sword at Jake, he froze. Looking down at the sword as Bane came for him again. Oh no he didn't. No, he fucking didn't. Who did Bane think he was? Maybe he was a cocky loud mouth idiot. Maybe he was a little more than others had asked for. Maybe he was always raising himself so he wouldn't fall, but Jake didn't need pity from others. More than anything, he hated that. Free handouts, pity, sympathy, kindness. The whole thing since coming here turned into one ugly emotion inside of him.

Jake stood there slightly trembling, his eyes angular and sharp as he glared at Bane, he emitted pure deadly rage at this moment. Maybe he couldn't land a hit on Bane. Maybe he wasn't all he chalked himself up to be, but exactly how was this fair? That single question ignited something inside of Jake, all of the anger exploding inside of him, snapping like a rope on its last thread. Since when had he become such a bitch!? Life wasn't fair, but you dealt with it even if it killed you.

Jake snatched the sword up from the ground as Bane came at him, but he didn't flinch this time. If you looked closely you could tell Jake was on the brink crying, tears pooling in his eyes, but it wasn't because he was scared. He was mad. Pissed. Royally pissed.
When he saw Bane aiming for his feet, Jake jumped back slightly, not taking the chance if Bane was either bluffing or not. The blade, however, wasn't aimed down, it was aimed up to slash down at Jake. Instead of blocking this time, having learned his lesson, he used his sword to connect with Bane's, the sword sliding across his own as he let Bane follow through with his motion, Jake turning in almost a spinning motion to deflect the sword. Once Bane was behind him Jake quickly backed up, knowing Bane would take another shot at him, so he prepared for that. He knew strength wasn't something he could use here, Bane heavily outweighed him in that regard, so he had to use other means from getting hurt.

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

Bane was keeping himself in check. The beast wanted to claw its way out of his chest. It wanted to tear Jake to shreds, leaving him dead on the ground. Another murder for the inconsolable hound. He gritted his teeth, trying to keep the monster locked away. He fought against his own mind, his own physiology to keep control. If he didn’t, Jake would wind up dead, and Bane would wind up imprisoned. He wanted to be a savor, a hero — not the villain. So he fought back vigorously. This was training, but his instincts wanted to take over. No — Bane couldn’t let them kill another being, at least not an innocent one. If he could call Jake innocent. He knew vaguely about the kid and his job. It didn’t seem all that innocent, but he could go off killing another from a different agency. If everything went to hell, Jax would have to restrain him and call for backup. He hoped that didn’t have to happen.

Jake’s emotions were all over his scent. The heavy mix confused him, overstimulating his senses. Bane roared, shaking his head at the emotions. Anger, terror, sadness. It was too much for the hound to stay focused on keeping the beast at bay. The beast was scratching at his chest. It was tearing its way up his throat. His eyes bled red. There was too much to control. Bane put more force into his strike, a deep snarl coming from his throat. He pressed further down on Jake’s sword as the two collided, his arms shaking. Jake, however, got himself free. Bane scrapped his foot against the ground, rushing in. He went for the most vulnerable area — Jake’s throat. The room around the hound distorted, each figure twisted and unfamiliar. His claws were unsheathed, ready to tear up the body once dead. Bane wasn’t in control of himself. He was no longer there.

Jax’s eyes widened. It came to play. He needed to act quickly or else Jake would be shredded. He tapped a button on his watch three times, grabbing his sword. Although unwell, he couldn’t let a man be killed. Jax rushed onto the floor, pushing Jake out of the way as Bane’s blade came baring down into his shoulder. Fuck. He hissed, a black smoke emitting from the wound. Tears bunch in his eyes, the wound sending pain signals to his entire body. His shoulder grew numb, the area cold as if he earned frostbite. Despite his pain, he lifted his blade to parry Bane, trying his best to hold him off. Jax’s arms shook, Bane’s weight-bearing down on him. It hurt. A lot. The hound snarled at him, no longer recognizing Jax as a friend. It hurt him to know his friend wasn’t in control. To know he didn’t mean to hurt him, and yet, it happened.

Two security guards burst into the training room. One had black hair with vitiligo, the other had brown hair. Unknown to Jake, both were werewolves. Bane snarled, slowly inching his blade closer and closer to Jax’s neck. The two guards grabbed him by the arms, pulling them behind his back. Bane had dropped his sword, a growl coming from him. It was clear in Bane’s eyes. He didn’t want this — he wasn’t in control — he wanted it to stop. But his body said otherwise. Bane was restrained by his lieutenants, being brought to his knees. The two lieutenants whispered things in his ears, hoping to soothe Bane. The hound came out of his spell; the red dissipating. Tears dripped down his cheeks, dripping onto his knees. Bane hung his head, breathing hard. He screwed up - he let it out. It was his fault, everything was his fault. He was nothing but a screw-up.

The guard with vitiligo looked at Jake, holding his head high. This was Alaska. He had scars across his face, a fit build, and striking blue eyes. “So sorry you had to witness this. Sometimes, he struggles to control himself. The beast within breaks through its cage. Many things could have caused it.” Alaska smirked. “No need to fear the big puppy. It rarely happens, but his anger is hard to keep in check.” The guards let go of Bane, his hands planted on the ground. He mumbled apologies. Guilt rose in his chest.

@Dayzed local_movies

Jake nearly dropped the sword again with so much force being added, it was unreal. The amount of strength this person had- it was all too much for Jake to handle. He silently cursed when Bane came at him again after deflecting the initial attack. Bane ruthlessly wouldn't let up.
And just like that, Jake's light was extinguished, the fire that burned inside completely going out. That light was a crucial part of what made Jake, well…Jake. When he saw that Bane was really actually going to kill him. He gasped, almost falling backwards but bracing himself.
"WAIT!!!" Jake let out a raspy broken cry, tears pooling in his eyes as he held his hands up to block Bane's blow, but was soon knocked out of the way by Jax. Jax- being the one to take the blow.
Everything seemed to slow down at that moment. Jake's eyes growing wide as he cried out, Jax getting in the way to protect Jake, and Bane mercilessly slicing down on who should have been Jake.

Jake could only watch in horror as everything went down, Jax struggling to keep Bane away. Jake immediately picked his sword up to rush in to help Jax, but two others stormed in right then and got ahold of Bane. He stopped. What the hell was that?! But the moment he stopped didn't last long as he rushed to Jax's side, hands trembling as looked Jax over, trying to see the damage. They needed to get him help, fast, right now damn it! Jake didn't know when it had started, but hot tears ran down his face as his body trembled violently. His eyes were wide as he tried to make sure Jax wasn't in any immediate danger.
"Are-" He choked on his words. Of course, he wasn't okay!!! There was something like slight anger in Jake's eyes as he looked at Bane, but more than anything fear overtook him, smothering the anger.
Jake looked up at someone who spoke to him, Jake's eyes seemed a little foggy now, like he wasn't quite there and was struggling to remain present.
Jake looked bitterly at Alaska. Big puppy…? Jake swallowed at that.
"W-we need to get Jax to the infirmary and-" His voice shook as he talked, trying to desperately distract himself from completely breaking down. Not only had that been terrifying, but it had also shaken Jake to the core. The image of Bane coming at him burned into his brain as he drew the connection between Bane and his father, Aristide. Both had that same look. Both were just as ruthless. And both would hurt Jake- even go as far as to kill him.
"Infirmary-" Jake murmured. "Can you stand?" Jake asked Jax as he struggled to stay standing himself, though his legs soon gave out, fear overpowering him completely even though everything was over. He sat there, eyes closed as he breathed in shaky breaths. Get a grip, Jake. Get a grip! He forced himself to open his eyes as he pulled himself up.

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

Jax panted, the pain spreading through his shoulder. There was too much going on. Jake’s broken speech, Alaska’s pride, Eris’ coldness, and Bane’s whimpers of guilt. He looked around, his eyes saddening. He knew the hound didn’t mean it. Jax knew Bane didn’t want to hurt him, not on purpose. He never hurt people on purpose. Jax dropped his sword, shakily getting on both feet. Time was unreal. He closed his eyes, stilling as he assessed the situation. They needed Jules. He would treat Jax and soothe the out-of-sorts hound. Taking a deep breath, Jax turned to Jake. He placed a hand on the other’s shoulder. His hands were calloused, grip harsh. “I will be fine. It doesn’t sting too bad. Alaska will probably go get Jules. We need to assess.” Jax peered at Bane. The hound was on his hands and knees, head swinging limply. Blood dripped out of his mouth from cutting open his lip with his fangs. The situation was grave.

Alaska had slipped out of the room, running toward the infirmary. Bane sat on his knees, hands on the floor. His eyes were dark, the copper taste of his blood invading his mouth. His breathing a shallow, each breath consuming more air than his body could compensate for. Tears streamed down his face, his body shaking. Each whimper emitted from his throat was painful. Why? Why did he let it out? Why couldn’t he control it? Poor Jax — sliced by his blade. Poor Jake for having to witness his worse. It was a fucking mess. Thoughts invaded Bane's mind, his palms pressing against his temple. He was close to digging his claws in. The voices got too loud, resonating around his skull. “I’m a monster.” He whispered to himself, over and over. He could only rock himself back and forth, trying to soothe himself. The hound was shutting down quickly, his eyes glazed over. He went from confidant to a wreck.

Jules burst into the room, followed by Alaska. He assessed the situation. Destructive. He looked over at Jax, noticing the blood dripping down his shoulder, staining his shirt. He bit his lip, calmly walking over to Jax. “Jaxon, what the hell happened?” Jules’ tone was stern, different from the gentle voice he used with Jake. He dragged the sleeve of Jax’s shirt up and over his shoulder, exposing the wound. It was deep, blood pouring out of it. The surrounding area was a purplish red. Jules frowned. He carried a satchel around his chest. Messing with the metal clasp, he yanked open the bag, pulling out some gauze. He pulled pieces off each other, the cotton fibers slowly pulling apart. Jules pressed piece after piece into the wound, blood pooling through the pads. He groaned, biting his inner lip. To heal the wound, the flow needed to slow. Jax seemed unaffected, a few scrunches of his face here and there. He dealt with pain well. Pulling off the pads, Jules assessed the bleeding. It slowed enough. Hover two fingers over the wound, he moved his hand slowly, sealing the gash.

Jax smiled, rolling his shoulder. He’d need a fresh shirt, but it could wait. He needed to answer Jules. “What happened?” He rolled down the bloody sleeve down. “Bane got overwhelmed. His focus and control dissipated, while extreme emotion activated his feral mindset. He couldn’t control or stop himself, digging his blade deep into my shoulder. He tried to kill Jake.” Jax reported, swallowing harshly. Jax tried to understand, but it was hard. When Bane’s red eyes show up, it is a warning to leave the premises. And once he caught a glimpse, Jax knew Jake wasn’t safe. He would sacrifice himself for anyone. It didn’t matter who. They deserved to live more than he did. He nodded his head over to the hound, who was trying to pierce his claws through his skull. “Go help him. I’ll calm Jake down.” Jax murmured. Jules nodded, running to Bane’s side.

Jules knelt down, placing a hand on Bane’s shoulder. The hound flinched, trying to dig his claws into his temples. He situated himself in front of Bane, grabbed his wrists, and pulled his hands away from his temples. “Don’t hurt yourself.” He whispered quietly. Bane whimper, sobbing. A great deal of blood mixed with saliva pooled at his knees. Jules sank down onto his knees, the slashed floor uncomfortable under his knees. “Look at me.” Jules commanded. Bane refused, shaking his head. His whispers grew louder. “I’m a monster. I’m a monster.” Jules shook his head, trying to stabilize the hound. Bane’s body shook profusely. “You’re not a monster.” Jules whisper. Bane was silent for a moment before his voice raised to a wail. “I’m a monster like father! I’m my father! I don’t want to be - to be…” He hiccoughed. “He trained me to be exactly like him! That makes me a fucking monster!” Wild sobs came from the hound, guilt sitting in his chest. His throat constricted.

Jules held onto Bane, jolting him slightly. “Listen to me.” His tone was stern. “You’re not your father. You are not a monster. We all make mistakes, and we all learn.” He moved in closer to Bane, wrapping his arms around him. “Choosing to reform immediately wiped away all that ensured you’d end up exactly like your father, Bane. You do not abuse or purposefully harm. You are perfect the way you are. You are Bane, not Cerberus.” Jules’ hands glowed white, flowing through the hound. Bane’s body went slack, falling against Jules. He figured Bane would only get peace if he knocked him out for a bit.

Jax looked at Jake. “Are you okay?” The situation died down, everything slowly getting under control. One thing was for certain. This was a disaster, and it was late. “Do you want to head to bed? Rest your mind?” Jax inquired. It might be best for Jake, considering the extent of the day. It had been long.

@Dayzed local_movies

Jax looking at Jake and placing his hand on his shoulder made Jake's shoulders drop a little, relaxing, though, he still looked very alarmed. When Jax turned to look at Bane with a sympathetic look Jake froze, swallowing hard. He took a step away from Jax, his expression darkening. His gray eyes scanned Jax's in return, trying to look for answers- answers he wouldn't get to questions he would never ask.
It wasn't his place.
Then he heard some rather familiar words. "I'm a monster." coming from Bane. Jake turned to look at the broken man. Jake had stood there when he was eighteen. Right exactly where Bane was, except he hadn't gotten the chance to mourn or breakdown, life went on. This was good. A small part of Jake liked that Bane had people around him, to support him, to stop him, and not encourage him. He would be alright. But the other part violently thrashed inside Jake. Jealousy mixing with hate, it seems that's all he had felt during his time here. An uncontrolled type of hate that shook Jake. He didn't belong here, he needed to get out. Now.
Soon he was snapped out of his thoughts when Jules suddenly entered, running over to Jax. He watched the other heal Jax as he spoke.
At this point Jake had been watching everything from afar, not really involving himself as he had backed away from Jax and the scene. He heard Jax's questions, even though he was continuing to shuffle his feet backward. Before he knew it, he was heading out the door, ignoring everything, a shaky hand opening the wooden door and making his way out.

It wasn't long before he opened the door to the cool night air. He took in a deep breath. Right. A smoke. The reason he had come out for.
Jake dug into his pocket and pulled out the cigarette carton, taking one out and putting it to his lips. He lit the cigarette as he sat on the steps. The night was alright. It was like any other night. Jake looked down at the paved road, the red embers from the cigarette being the only thing visible on him. As everything had gone down, Jake had managed to self-soothe himself, effectively making him stop crying. He still was a little shaky and the event replayed in his mind over and over again, but it didn't seem to shake him as much anymore. It's like he had shut down, and thrown everything to the back of his mind. He hummed a light tune, something his lover used to play on the violin. He really loved that song.
Jake always wore eyeliner, so his cheeks were stained with streaks of black that had mixed with the tears, though, most of it was gone by now as he had rubbed it away.
He could have very well died today, and while he knew no one should be irrationally mad about that fact, the thing that irked him the most was what Bane had done. The fact that everyone seemed to be so understanding. He took a drag of the cigarette, feeling it calm his nerves.
His inner child kicked and screamed. I want that! I want that! I want that! But Jake simply ignored that voice. He needed some rest, but maybe taking a walk around the place would cool him down. He learned to self-soothe from a very young age and Jake was very skilled at bringing himself down. Why? Because if he didn't, no one would.

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

Jax watched Jules and Bane relaxing his shoulders once he recognized the hound was incapacitated. He knew the others would clean up. The room wasn’t in a terrible state. Only drool and blood from Bane pooled on the floor. Otherwise, it would be like nothing happened. Jules would drag Bane to bed, and the others were put on lookout. The drama was finally over. At least, he thought. Turning around, he noticed Jake booking it out of the room. Earlier, the man looked in his arctic eyes for answers, finding nothing substantial. Jax nodded to the others, signaling his departure. Opening the metal door, Jax heard the main door close. Jake bolted outside. Activity within the bureau died down. Many went out on missions or went to bed. Jax didn’t sleep well. He stayed up either late or all night. He was okay with saying up if it meant helping Jake.

Jax walked across the clearing, his boots echoing along the marble flooring. He pushed open the first set of glass doors, entering the sunroom. It was drab at night. The sun made the place sparkle, but without it, there was no life to be found. Jax spotted Jake sitting in the night, basking under the starless void from the porch. He opened the second set of glass doors, walking out onto the concrete porch. The night was cool, a slight wind tousling his hair. It brushed against his skin, sending goosebumps all along his arms. The grass shook in the winds, the slight brush of trees surrounding the two. Jax sat near Jake, the concrete cool. He watched the sky. No stars could be seen. Light pollution drowned them out. “If you have questions. You can ask. As of yesterday, you work here.” He placed his hands in his lap, turning to look at Jake. “You may know why we treat people certain ways, or why some people don’t seem to get punished.” He bit his tongue. Did Jake want to hear about that? Anytime someone showed sympathy or pity, he ran — getting angry.

@Dayzed local_movies

Jake looked at Jax from the corner of his eyes, a slight poutiness to his cheeks as he held the cigarette in place with his lips, his chin on the palm of his hand. He listened to the other and when Jax turned to him, Jake cracked a huge smile at him, bordering on playful. He bit the cigarette in place, his eyes bouncing around as he looked into Jax's eyes.
"Thanks" Was all Jake said, turning back to look at the road. "You didn't have to get in the way of the blade and me, but you did anyways. No one's done that before" He said casually, a peaceful look on his face. His eyes fluttered slightly as something got caught in one of them, he went to wipe at it, huffing frustratedly.

"He's your friend right?" Jake said, taking the cigarette out of his mouth and waving it around a little, doing small gestures with his hands as he spoke. "Besides, it's none of my business what you guys do, I'm just here to get straightened out and then leave, it's no big deal" Jake let out a small sound, sounding like a sad laugh, though he tried to make it as convincing as possible.
"I'm in your debt," Jake said at last. "Anything you ask of me, I'll do it. Oh and by the way" Jake suddenly stood up, stretching a bit. "Did it hurt?" Jake said, a mischievous smile on his face now. It sounded like the start of a cheesy pickup line, but that's not where he was going with this.
"The salt bomb knocking you out?" He asked, trying to lighten the mood a little from previous events, even if it got him in trouble. Jake was good at that. Dodging the subject and being what people called the "class clown".

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

Jax smiled slightly, playing with the laces of his boots. He rarely smiled, but when along in — alright company — he produced a smile. He realized long in his teenage years smiles made people relaxed. Jax could never pop one until recently. His healing journey had brought him far. Farther than he would have thought 2 years ago. “Don’t mention it. Its just — you’re not experienced in our field. I have 8 years of work under my belt.” He paused, peering up at the abyss. “At least here. I didn’t want you to suffer a wound like that. Bane’s blade is made of shadow. Shadows sting, acting like frostbite.” Jax didn’t seem fazed. He’s been around the bend, receiving many injuries, ones more painful than that gash. He would be alright for the time being. Jax was tough. He’d been through a lot. Closing his eyes, he let the wind move around him, ruffling his hair and moving through his clothes. The night was peaceful.

Jax opened his eyes again. They glowed in the dead of night. Frogs sun their lonely song, owls serenade the night with their hoots. “Yeah. I’ve known him since adolescence. I used to fear Bane until I truly understood his story. It’s in his physiology to turn to a feral likeness. It was not of his own choice, but a physical, psychological response to overstimulation of emotions. You can’t blame for a response, a state he can’t control. He really didn’t mean it — it tears him up. Makes him think he’s a monster. Makes him think he turned into his father.” Jax took a deep breath, drawing some of the cool air into his lungs. How long had it been since he sat out here? At least a year or two. He unconsciously played with his hands. A nervous response. “It’s plenty of your business. You’re part of the team. As long as you stay, the more you deserve to know. It is a strong network of friends and acquaintances.” His mouth twitched, and his lip pursed. The salt bomb.

Jax looked away, trying to grapple with his own emotions. The memories resurfaced, poisoning Jax’s kindness with anger. He took deep a breath, leaving his frustration in his head. “Wounds rarely hurt anymore, Jake. I’m numb to the pain. I am used to receiving awful wounds — it just doesn’t faze me anymore. I know what to expect.” Another thing Jax didn’t do. Be open with others about his mental start or mental affairs.

@Dayzed local_movies

"Awwwe, you care about me" Jake gushed, though snickered, not taking anything Jax said seriously, though, deep inside he felt something move, an emotion- something like a warmness that threatened to consume him. Woah. That was dangerous. He shoved the emotion down, a wobbly smile now on his face as he tried to fake being cool about everything. Having friends again in this day in age? Who would have thought.
"Frostbite huh" He echoed Jax. Now he wondered how that must have felt, not pleasant for sure, obviously, but it was so different than having a regular wound inflicted. "Thank the universe you guys got a medic with the white heal-y hands," He said, knowing it was magic, but deciding to play dumb.

He tilted his head slightly at Jax's explanation of Bane.
"Hmmmm…." Jake hummed in a sort of intrigued tone. "He was crying- he looked like a mess" He commented, picturing back to the scene. Everything had been so blurry with Jake fading in and out of reality, that he had almost missed it. He wondered if Bane was one of those "special cases" like he was. Everyone called Jake a special case because of the way he had been brought into the world and raised to be. He didn't say any more after that though, still thought about it, turning it around in his mind.
"It is a strong network of friends and acquaintances."

Jake looked back at Jax after that. If he stayed here, would everything end up the same as it had in the past? Maybe he had a better shot with these guys, he felt like he couldn't hurt anyone here and it brought a comfortable feeling to him. Though, realistically he knew he couldn't just leave Nexus, they still had a leash on Jake.
He watched Jax's reaction at the mention of the salt bomb. Jake huffed, annoyed at Jax's reaction.
"At least get mad or hit me or something" Jake muttered under his breath. At the last bit, Jake arched an eyebrow at Jax.
"Well, you're very strong I'll give you that. I'd give you one of my cigarettes, but it seems to me you don't smoke. Unless you'd like one after all?" Jake questioned, digging in his pants for the carton in case Jax wanted one.

Jax shifted, his back hurting from today’s work. Today had been like every other, just with a few high stakes. He took time to decompress, stretching his arms and legs. He could not do some training exercises. Training exercises helped unwind his bunches up joints. Some - not so much, but it was subjective. Jax couldn’t tell if Jake was serious or not, his snicker displacing his credibility. “Well, Jake, I was just looking out for another agent. You’re a recruit. Can’t scare them off too early.” He laughed, ignoring the fact Jake was from another organization, and not recruited for Blackwood. His attitude was of one expecting Jake to stay. Jax was also trying to shrug off the fact he cared for Jake a little. He needed to be stoic. Jax was naturally distant, but a few people broke through his defenses. It was odd who he let in, and who he shut out. “It is like frostbite. Quite painful, I suppose, but numbness set in quickly. I couldn’t feel the pain tingle throughout my arm, only small jarring spurts of pain.” He shrugged, as if this was normal. Jax had been wounded by hellhounds, and their blades were engaged in battle. It didn’t matter. He smiled slightly, looking down at his feet. “Jules is great. He’s such a sweet man. He’s helped me a lot over the past year.” There is something in his eyes. What emotion, unsure. A powerful control of emotion blurred it drowning it out - like a small ring sinking into a bottomless lake.

Jax yawned, exhaustion round the bottom of his eyes. The crickets sang to the moon, cradling it to sleep. The cool air circled his body, cooling his skin. It had been uncomfortably hot, almost as if he had sat by a fire. He basked in the moon's light, the pale moon illuminating his honeyed skin. The light had hit the scars on his face, a few populating his mouth and under eye. Jax sighed, flicking his eyes toward Jake. “Yes. He was crying.” He went silent, leg bouncing with vigorous intent. “Bane struggles to deal with emotions - with guilt. Bane was a mess because of guilt. You could see it in his face. With every twitch of his face, guilt flashed through his eyes. Jules told me once, when I was still disapproving of him, he was scared he’ll turn into his father - probably making his guilt worse.” He seemed to know more than he should. Jules knew Bane best, and of course, Bane knew Bane best. Jax tugged at his pant leg, pulling it away from his delicate skin. The denim rubbed against his leg uncomfortably. He then reached up to peel the bloody sleeve away from his skin. It made a dreary, icky sound. “But if you really want to know, you might have to ask the source himself.” Jax went silent, messing with hair by now. He seemed nervous, maybe even irritated.

Jax bit his lip, pulling his hand away from messing with his hair. Black strands of hair fluttered down to his lap and swallowed harshly. “No. I don’t hit someone because they hurt me. That is assault. You don’t deserve to be punched or smacked.” If Jake were to remain with the agents, his life might improve, but the future looked meek. As soon as he was wrangled, Nexus would probably take him back. Jax didn’t know the organization worked, but it couldn’t have been kind. “Oh no, I don’t smoke. It’s not my source of relaxation or taking off the edge. I probably couldn’t handle all that down my throat anyway.” He bit his tongue. His sources of coping were - not great. Not that Jake’s coping was better.

@Dayzed local_movies

Jake let out a muffled sound at that, sounding like a another laugh, but more just so as a reaction than teasing of any sort.

“I don’t scare” he said indignantly, though, he was just feinting to be hurt, something he always did, acting dramatic. Jake hummed at the next part as he listened.

“That doesn’t sound too bad if it gets all numb, though it would feel odd” he nodded, mostly at his words, as if he were talking to himself but he wasn’t.

Jake stayed quiet when Jules was mentioned. He didn’t feel a certain way about the man, he seemed rather nice, though, he had yet to talk to Jules without being a prick.

“I see..” he said softly, wondering what the man had done to make Jax have that kind of reaction towards him. Maybe he was like a father figure? Was the only thing that came to Jake’s mind.

“You like him a lot, huh?” Jake said randomly, as if trying to get more information on the man, trying to see if he should give Jules a shot. Maybe it wasn’t such a bad idea, but Jake was still very wary. He watched Jax’s glowing eyes. That sure was something. He’d never seen anything like that before and wondered why that was.

Jake stayed quiet as Jax spoke about Bane. He slowly sank back down, sitting the steps once again, joining the other.

“Not sure why that’s a concern,” Jake said, sounding insensitive, though there was a bit of irritation there.

“If Bane doesn’t want to turn out like his father he won’t. It doesn’t matter what he does, it’s the intention that counts” he said, though, it sounded like Jake was trying to justify his own actions of the past. “Not like he can control it, why blame yourself?” Jake muttered at last, pouting once again. The reason Jake said this was because he knew someone who had control over their actions and still did the wrong thing anyway. That person being himself.

His eyes stole a glance at Jax before going back to staring at the floor.

“Maybe I will ask him, maybe I won’t” he said, sounding like a child that was being difficult.

Jake mused at Jax’s reasoning.

“So me throwing the salt bomb wasn’t assault? Maybe just friendly fire” Jake snickered once again, though it seemed to falter a little, feeling guilty for having done that.

“Sorry..” he said softly, his gaze on the ground, a soft smile on his face, he seemed a little sad, and looked like he was trying to make up for it by apologizing, though Jake knew words meant nothing. He had to prove he was sorry.

Jake nodded at Jax’s refusal.

“That’s fair. Probably not a good habit to pick up on anyways” he said, now looking over to Jax.

“And you know? Speaking of attractive men” Jake said, even though they hadn’t been talking about that, though, the way Jake’s eyes seemed to light up when he looked at Jax seemed to give away his thoughts. He thought Jax to be very attractive, but there was something different there now that Jax had put himself in harms way for him. Something looking more like admiration and eagerness to stick by this person. He wanted this person to be safe, he deserved that.

“Who were those people who came in to help? Or well, more specifically the guy with the black hair? Who was talking to us?” He asked, tilting his head a little.

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

Jax bit his cheek, sucking in a sharp breath. The cigarette smoke hung in the air, stinging his throat and laugh. He coughed in his hand, his body shuttering from the harsh force of it. He thought Jake to be a little — cocky. Way in over his head. It reminded Jax of his younger self. He sighed, looking up at the other. “It’s not all that bad. It takes away the pain, leaving a gaping wound. It feels strange, however. Almost like your hand falling asleep or a sharp nip of cold air on a chilly day.” Jax regarded his blood sleeve. He had gotten himself hurt for the other. It was his protective instinct. The same instinct that got his brother killed. He had been reading Bane’s reports, notes of Nathaniel killing innocents and his suspected plans to get revenge. If Jax ever saw the demon again, he would rip out his throat. Jax gritted his teeth, Jake's words dragging him out of his thoughts. “Oh, Jules? Yes. He is - kinda like a father, I suppose. I lost mine when I was 12, so — he also helped me through my mental battles. Jules has been nothing but kind and forgiving toward me when I tried to take his life out of anger, out of grief — when my brother died.” He fell silent, watching a small beetle scuttle past his shoe. It has metallic green wings and small antennas. He hated talking about his brother’s death. It killed him, murdering his inner child. Well, his inner child died long ago. Nothing to write home about.

Jax refocused himself, raising an eyebrow at Jake. Jax knew what Bane was feeling at the moment, not what would happen after. Although, he could predict what would happen after based on other situations. But he knew what Jake was trying to say. “Bane struggles with it, Jake. It is a fear that overtakes him. At the moment he was racked with guilt, heavy memories, and fear.” Jax didn’t like explaining Bane’s situation to others. It felt wrong to tell the big guy’s story to another. He bit his lip. “Listen, Jules knocked him out. He won’t remember a thing when he wakes. It’s the curse of his ability, but hey, give the big guy a chance. You saw the bad and vulnerable side — try for the good one. He’ll make it.” Jax was sure. Bane would never intentionally harm Jake. That was an unfortunate event. Was there a place in there where Jake would give Bane a chance? He wasn’t sure. Jake didn’t seem to believe in chances. “He blames himself because he could have killed you. He blames himself because he strikes fear into people like you. Sure, he can’t control it — but do you understand that? Do you suddenly feel like forgiving the hound? I’m not so sure.” Jax’s voice was stern. He was challenging Jake’s words. He wanted to see where the man’s opinions lay. What were his goals? His motive? Maybe a spy on the inside? Likely.

Jax rolled his eyes, crossing his arms. He looked down at his watch, yawning as he eyed the time. It was getting pretty late. “It was — but not enough to warrant a slap from me. I don’t punish like that.” He glared at Jake, smiling slightly at the apology. Jax dropped his guard, standing up. He stretched his arms, the moonlight revealing many scars on his arms. “You’re forgiven.” Jax hopped off the porch, pacing the driveway. He was on edge. The thought of Nathaniel returning fogged his mind. Jake had to break into his thoughts again, looking up at Jake as he noted the guards. “Oh, the guards? Alaska and Eris. But the black hair one was Alaska, Bane’s second lieutenant.” A smirk grew on Jax’s face, a slight snicker coming from him. “Do you find him attractive?” He raised an eyebrow, stopping his important pacing to eye Jake. “You can find him in detainment where we keep criminals. He’s a responsible head guard.” Jax giggled, the thoughts of Nathaniel still in his mind. They might have to ask for backup, for a partnership from — them. It chilled Jax to the bone.

@Dayzed local_movies

Jake blinked at Jax's cough. He paused for a second, eyeing his cigarette before he put it out against the ground, a small huff leaving his mouth. He'd have another later, not around the others. Maybe that was for the best.
"That actually sounds relaxing" Jake commented on the feeling of getting wounded from the sword, though, what part he was talking about was unknown. He glanced at Jax's bloodied sleeve, his eyes softening, he looked away, a neutral expression on his face. Right now he looked tired, like just another guy in the world, nothing much to him. He could look like this, though, it wasn't often. He laid back on the concrete, listening to Jax tell Jake about his past. He didn't know much about the other, so hearing him talk about his history warmed Jake a little. He saw that to be….vulnerability, in a way. His eyes stared at the sky, taking in the darkness as Jax's voice carried on.

"You tried to kill him?" Jake questioned softly. "I'm sorry about your father and brother though" He laid on his side, resting the side of his face on his chin, his elbow on the concrete. Not comfortable, but it didn't matter. Jake gave all his attention to Jax as he talked, eyes scanning his expressions.
"It's nice to have someone like that" Jake gave a dorky smile to the other, somehow grateful for Jules now. What changed? Probably the way Jax talked about him. His importance in his life. Jake swallowed at the realization. He was getting sucked in. It's something that had happened a lot in the past. He thought he was over it now but….he was still trying to find someone to connect to, someone to accept him. The thought made his heart sink. This would only lead to pain and heartbreak.

Jake whined at Jax saying his name again. He felt like he was being scolded. He didn't like when others said his name over and over again like that, it felt…heavy.
"But hey, give the big guy a chance. You saw the bad and vulnerable side — try for the good one." Jake gave a sort of sour look at Jax when he said that but said nothing in return. Jake never tried for the good side- he held grudges and almost never let them go. He wouldn't say it, but since it was Jax asking, he'd consider. Whatever. His expression looked uncertain as he thought about it.
He sat up when Jax started talking a little more, the look of a child getting reprimanded on his face, bitter, but not dismissing.
"Alright, alright! I get it!" Jake hissed, announcing his thoughts loudly, a shiver running up his arms.
"Can you stop talking like that now?" He said, his eyes looking a little sad now. Not because of Jax's words, but because of the tone and who it reminded him of.
"I understand." He said, looking away now, not being able to meet Jax's eyes anymore. "I'll forgive him." He said quietly. Jake seemed to be a little more compliant with Jax. Why? Because it reminded him of his best friend and he missed him. A lot. He wasn't using Jax as a fill for Jen, Jen could never be replaced like that, but the similarities were there and maybe there was a small part of him that was trying to make up for the past. Jax wasn't Jen, but Jake needed to be forgiven desperately and it drove him mad.

"I was so sure you'd tear me to pieces," Jake said sarcastically, getting his spark back as the topic changed again. He watched Jax stretch and the smile on his face faded a little at the scars on his arms. He immediately pretended to look elsewhere in case Jax caught him looking.
"A second lieutenant…" He rolled the word around in his mouth, testing them out. Jake could practically hear the teasing in Jax's voice, the snicker sealing the deal, so he looked up only to see the idiot smirking at him.
"Fuck off!" Jake said crossing his arms, a slight blush on his face now. "I'm just curious." He said firmly, staring back at Jax who eyed him. He narrowed his eyes.
"Well I guess that's good to know," He said softly, now getting up again as well. "You look tired, you should head off to bed," Jake said, shoving his hands into his pockets in an anxious manner, his shoulders slightly tense.

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

Jax cleared his throat, the potent smoke staining his tongue. It was unbearable, but he would survive. It wasn’t too bad, just brought him back to a few memories. However, he bottled the memories, taking a deep breath of clean air. It cleared out his lungs, letting him breathe again. Jax shook his head. “It’s not as relaxing as you think. It’s a little annoying.” The comment was quite ambiguous, so Jax treated the answer as one to his entire spiel. He had become vulnerable, letting Jake in. It was something new — something he didn’t do too often. While he didn’t freely talk about his trauma, Jules was at the center. He helped Jax heal, his mind mending itself slowly. Jax drew in a shallow breath, tingles running through his body. He couldn't believe he came from this world — one of monsters and oddities. “Yes. I tried to kill him. Grief and anger blinded me, running at him with a blade in hand. I blamed him for the death of my brother, having to be held down by guards as he used his magic to put me to sleep.” Jax paused, biting his low lip until it bled. “He still forgave me.” He dipped his head, wondering why he did it. It drove him insane. “Thank you. I miss them a lot.” He looked down at his shoes, a frown forming. Sadness overtook his body, pangs of regret flourishing.

Jax smiled slightly, pulling his frown up. He played with his fingers, picking at the skin. “It is. I don’t know what I would have done without him.” He turned his head toward Jake, reaching out to put a hand on the man’s shoulder. Something reflected in Jax’s eyes. What was it? Companionship or acceptance? It was further obscured with numbness as he retracted his hand. Jax watched Jake’s face sour. So he wouldn’t have forgiven the hound, not without Jax’s encouragement. Interesting. He thought it was best to let start anew, but then again, Jax had learned a thing or two. Jake still seemed deep-rooted in trauma and mental battles. Oh well, he couldn’t change the boy, only encouraging him. Jax held his hands up in defense, surrendering to Jake. “Okay. We can stop. I just wanted you to give him a fair chance.” He scuffed the toe of his boot against the concrete. It was important to him that his friend got equal chances. “Good. At least, talk to him.” He pursed his lips, almost fearing Jake would yell at him again. Jax didn’t want that, only to make Jake comfortable with a few of his friends. Jax put his arms down, breathing a deep sigh. He was up and moving, noticing how Jake turned away from him. That was until Jax teased him.

Jax gripped the iron railing, climbing up it to stare at Jake from a new angel. “So — you have eyes for someone, don’t we?” Another snicker came from him, a smile creeping up his face. “Just curious doesn’t entail asking where the hot one is. I would know — my fiancée did that.” Fiancée. Jax was going to get married. Another giggle came from his throat. “Good luck getting in there. You’d need a good reason or behave horribly.” Another yawn came from Jax and hopped down. Walking up the stairs, Jax hovered by the doors. “I think I will. Goodnight.” He opened the doors, entering the bureau.

@Dayzed local_movies

Jake was silent at Jax's explanation- of how he had tried to kill the man. There was a familiar look on Jake's face as Jax spoke, he reflected Jax's same expression, frowning, his eyebrows drawn in with concern. Jake leaned in a little to try and close the gap between them, wanting to comfort the other, but he found himself frozen in place. Physical contact. He hadn't had that in so long that he tried to get Jax to hit him, he would take anything at this point. How pathetic.
Though, when Jax seemed to do it for him, his hand now on his shoulder, Jake's eyes widened a little a small child-like smile on his face now as he got what he wanted. He looked very content at that moment.

His eyes watched Jax as he moved to the railings, to take a closer look at him. Jake leaned back a little as if trying to get away from Jax, but it was purely his playfulness- just like the look of horror came onto his face.
"I do not-" He was cut off as Jax kept going, though his face turned a dark shade of red at knowing how Jax had met his partner. What exactly was he implying?! That he was gonna get engaged or something?! Like hell he was!
At Jax's slight warning, Jake restrained a smile that tried to show on his lips. He couldn't give himself away or Jax would surely catch on and try to stop him. He turned as Jax went inside.
"Goodnight…" He said, watching Jax's figure disappear down the hall as the door closed. Jake's lip trembled slightly, as it pulled into what looked like a frown, but he was trying really hard not to cry. Tears swelled up in his eyes. Fucking Kindness. It killed him. He hated it, and yet his heart couldn't stop reaching out for it.
Jake stood, pulling the cigarette carton back out and taking another out. Time for another. Maybe he'd make a coffee if he sneaked into the kitchen area and have a midnight writing session. With his belongings, he had brought his notebook which he wrote in daily. That notebook held a few letters directed at someone named Marcus, though the sealed letters looked like they had been through hell and back, one of them being almost fully burned, looking like the owner had regretted the decision at the last second and quickly put the fire out only the leave some burnt edges. The letter was unreadable, but you could probably make out some of the words.
Jake waited for a few seconds to pass before he craned his neck to see if Jax was really gone and not just spying on him from somewhere. Once he decided he was in the clear, he lit his new cigarette and shoved everything back into his pants, his hands staying there as he happily scampered off to take a look around. He didn't know where the place Jax was talking about was, but he'd soon find out. He'd check every single place till it looked like he got the right one.

Jake cautiously went back inside through the doors Jax had previously, glancing around, cigarette in his mouth. The lights were dimmed, looking like the building was powering down, but with enough light to illuminate the way if anyone was up at the late hour. Jake strolled through the sunroom, going through another set of doors. He walked to the right, going down to where he had been led before. Jake didn't know if this was the right place or not, he knew that was the turn he had taken to bring Jax to the medic. It was a while before Jake looked around, being able to fully explore the place at his own pace. The place was nicer than Nexus' building. This place felt homier, while Nexus felt like a giant corporation, the building made of glass- tall and expanding several acres wide.
There was a soft smile on Jake's face as he wandered the halls, the brick reminding him of the old apartment he had once been a part of.
It wasn't long before he made it back to where he had started, going to the left this time. He walked down a small hall before he got to another room which had several doors lined on either side. Jake stopped walking momentarily as he saw the guards posted outside. He hummed lightly as he walked down to the last door, looking at the place, pretending to mind his own business as he looked at the ceiling and whatnot. He stopped in front of the two guards, turning to them and waving, giving a friendly smile before kneeing one in the groin area- a dirty move really, Jake didn't usually do dirty moves, but he really didn't want to go all out for this. The woman posted along with the guy immediately went into action against Jake but it wasn't long before Jake had her in a headlock, his eyes looking a little dangerous now as he blocked the flow of oxygen. The guy seemed to recover during that time and swung at Jake.
Jake fought them for a few minutes, dodging and weaving before they were both on the ground.
A sudden harsh sound rang out, which made Jake nearly jump out of his skin. Of course, they had fucking alarm systems. Before thinking about it twice, Jake yanked open the door and darted inside.

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

Jax shrugged the story off, taking a deep breath as he relayed how Jules’ life was almost taken by his hand. It wasn’t pretty and cast Jax in a malicious light. He wasn’t malicious, only struggled to handle his emotional grief. By now, Jax put it all behind him. He didn’t dwell on his brother’s death, trying to kill Jules, or the horrid emotions of the time. He drew his knees to his chest, taking a shaky breath. Jax needed a moment before letting go. He appreciated how Jake leaned in to comfort him. Maybe the guy wasn’t too bad, but needed a lot of work. Jax placed his hand on Jake’s shoulder, letting the other know how much he appreciated his company. However, Jaxon was not up for a hug. He didn’t want to be touched in any shape or form. He patted Jake’s shoulder, giving him a convoluted smile. Withdrawing his hand, Jax got up from his spot, moving to pace around on the concrete. But once Jake started mentioning Alaska, he jumps up onto the iron railing into Jake’s eyes and gave him a smirk.

A snicker came from Jaxon’s throat. This amused him. So much so, this was his first time poking fun at someone — someone other than his best friend. “Oh, give it up. You’re clearly enamored.” He chuckled. A glimmer appeared in Jaxon’s eyes. He was not letting up. In fact, he noticed the deep shade of red growing on Jake’s face, knowing he hit a nerve. Oh, Jake was probably going to kill him. “You have fun trying to find him. I’m going to go to bed. Who knows, maybe the penitentiary will let you in knowing you have a little crush on their head guard.” Another Snicker came from his throat, and Jax hopped off the iron railing. Walking up the stairs to the porch, he opened the first thick glass doors, side-eyeing Jake. “Do nothing stupid.” Jax muttered sternly before walking inside.

Once Jax walked inside, the night grew still. Little chirps of crickets flooded the abyss. The building’s light illuminated the nearby fields and forest, yet it seemed to operate on axillary power at night and on primary power during the day. Owls hooted from the forest, warning prey creatures of the lurking werewolves. A light snarl came from deep in the forest, telling anybody who worked outside should head in. A hellhound could strike at any moment, killing an agent even if trained. When hellhounds locked eyes on targets, they were dead. If one peered toward the city, destruction rang out. Bane had had a terse conversation with Jules, mentioning a genocidal maniac. There were teams of agents on missions to stop this person who terrorized the city. Jake would soon come to know who this man was, but for now, he was a mystery. An Enigma that only the agents knew. But his attack would come forthright, and they could become engaged in another war depending on how his goals and destruction of the city panned out. This man didn’t want to kill the humans of the city. He wanted to rid of the agents, leaving vulnerable people to serve under his ruling. He wanted to make Earth his domain.

Jax was nowhere to be seen, meaning he’d actually got the bed and wasn’t watching Jake from afar. Exhausted rounded Jax’s eyes. His day was filled with fighting ghosts, getting injured, fighting Bane, and getting injured. His body needed to rest, recovering from the minor injuries bestowed upon him by Jake and Bane. It’s unknown how he handled two idiots, even if he couldn’t handle himself. His best friend was an idiot, and he handled him just fine. Jax was a mystery, but he showed the vulnerable side of himself. It was rare, since he bottled everything inside, not to show weakness to those who wanted him dead.

If Jake looked everywhere, he might get himself caught. But apparently, the man did anyway. He went through the same doors as Jax, finding himself in the sunroom. The sunroom was a medium-sized room, almost like a reception area. It mainly served as a lounge. Agents relaxed, and those who wanted the agent’s help waited for someone to grant them permission to come inside. It had lounge chairs, couches, and a coffee table. All the typical things you’d find in a waiting room. Then, Jake had strutted through the medical wing, which was a smaller version of the main floor. It was filled with many rooms, something seeming to go nowhere. Instead, it contained offices like Holly’s and supply closets, but the infirmary was in the main compartment, taking up space. The hallway to get there was pretty short, lined with small pictures and fluorescent lights overhead. It was like a typical school hallway, only shorter. Except this wasn’t the security wing, so the man had to back himself, going out back into the main room. The first floor, with the stairs going upwards, and the walls lined with training rooms and places for agents to access. Jake might find out what was on the second floor, but for now, he was contained on the first floor.

Jake went left, going down the right hall to find the security wing. The hall was quite like the magical wing’s hall. It was short; the walls lined with weapons. It was a display of their strength and unity. The hallway spat him into a smaller room, quite like the medical wing’s hallway. The room had several doors leading to offices and classified rooms. However, the one at the end of the left wall had guards posted to it. This was the door to the penitentiary. The guards glared at Jake. He seemed too suspicious. And their suspicions were correct when he knees the guard on the right in the groin. The guard gritted his teeth, screaming at Jake as the other rushed to apprehend the man. However, she was caught in a headlock, writhing, trying to get out of Jake’s hold. Short snarls came from her, her nails digging into Jake’s arm. The man had recovered, hitting a small red button on the wall, causing an alarm to sound out. The panel froze up, only letting security personnel access it. The male guard rushed Jake, trying to get a good hit in. But none of the guards seem to get a hit in. Jake incapacitated them on the ground within a few minutes, the alarm still blaring.

Now, Jake might have been able to open the door and slip in, not before running into a tall man about an inch or two taller than him. He grabbed Jake by the nape of his neck, a cigarette hanging from his mouth. He caught the heavy door, poking his head outside and disarming the alarm. If Jake could show enough justification for why he would do such a thing to a site he was sent to “shape up,” as his organization called it, the man might label it a freak accident in his report. The Tall Man had black hair falling down to his neck. He had large brown eyes, eyeliner surrounding them. The clothes he dressed in were black. He had on the black baggy jacket with a black undershirt and black cargo pants. His shoes were boots, like many other people here. Pulling the cigarette out of his mouth, holding it in between his fingers, he spoke. “What are you doing?” His voice had an accent to it, almost gruff but flirtatious. “I guess the recruit wants to be interrogated after all. You know, taking down those guards is against our laws, but that’s all right. The cute ones always get apprehended.” He giggled.

The penitentiary spanned up several floors. The first floor was like a check-in and interrogation. Several smaller rooms were at a table with two chairs at each end. A small lamp hung overhead, kind of like a classic interrogation room. The middle was hollow, allowing one to peer up and see the cells lining the walls. This was definitely a prison. One that held many dangerous criminals before giving them up to other facilities. The man, also known as Auden, dragged Jake to one of the interrogation rooms. He threw him in a chair, took reinforced cuffs off his belt, and chained Jake to the chair by his wrist. Auden simply laughed. He would have to get another interrogator, for he was busy investigating a classified case. He left the room, his cigarette smoke displacing the air. Jake was in it now. This would not look good.

@Dayzed local_movies

Yeah, Jake was going to kill Jax. He kept that up and Jake would attempt to strangle the man, he'd put him in a headlock till he begged to be let go- though, Jake was sure he'd get his ass handed to him right after for attempting such a thing. Jake liked to rough house around with others, it brought a sense of familiarity.
Jake hummed at the warning, a small smile on his lips after he left. He wasn't going to do anything stupid, just a quick look around.

He wandered around for a while, taking his time to take everything in. This was all new to him after all and if he was going to be staying here for a while, he might as well get comfortable with where things were. He didn't seem too concerned about getting caught, acting like he owned the place as he made his way to the security wing.

When Jake made it inside the room, he celebrated a little too quickly. He smacked right into someone as he made his way in. He looked up quickly with wide eyes, taking a step back. He had planned to dodge the man in that split second, ducking to the right, but was quickly caught. Jake tried to wiggle free of the grasp but found it to be futile. At the voice that came out of the man, Jake finally glanced up at him, taking in who this person was. A sudden wave of heat hit Jake's face at those words. "The cute ones always get apprehended."
"Who are-" Jake didn't get to finish as he was basically dragged into another room. Jake thrashed around, actively struggling against the man, but found himself getting knocked into a chair. Jake immediately went to get up, but everything happened so fast. Getting kicked back into the chair as he attempted to get up and cuffs slammed on his wrists as they locked into place, bounding him to the chair.
The laugh coming from the man, made his heart skip a beat.
"Wait-!" Jake called out, trying to go after Auden but being held back. He scowled as he sat there and the door was closed after Auden left. So what? This wasn't the best idea, but he'd deal with it. He'd get out of this one, one way or another, either by flirting his way out or lying his way out.
"Fuckin' asshole…" Jake muttered though the deep blush on his face said otherwise. So much for finding out if Alaska was here at this hour. Maybe that was for the best, then maybe Jax couldn't tease him for it. Jake let out a heavy irritated sigh as he leaned back into the chair, slouching. He should be asleep right now.

The interrogation room was still. The harsh light above drench Jake, illuminating his features and every single detail. The room was supposed to be soundproof. One could hear screaming in the background, coming from another interrogation. The voice would be recognizable, for Jake had an encounter with this man. It was ahead of security, Bane, trying to draw information out of an unwilling criminal. While he never screamed or yelled at any of his coworkers — or people that didn’t deserve it — he was violent towards cocky individuals like the demons he caught. If he couldn’t draw a direct answer out of them, he would use different methods that were not — approved of. He didn't like using them himself, but he did what needed to be done. It was an unsettling place to be, which is why most didn’t step foot if they didn’t have to.

 The metal door clicked open, a man entering the room with a notebook. This man was recognizable. It was Alaska, the guard who helped apprehend Bane. He was tan with white patches of vitiligo, his hair black and shaggy, with a white streak. Alaska had blue round eyes and a heart-shaped face. He wore a black jacket, denim pants, and heavy boots which concealed his well-built body. There seemed to be nothing supernatural about him. Alaska placed the notebook down on the iron table. He grasped the chair, turning it around and sitting in it, so the back of the chair was against the chest. A small smirk crossed his lips, his eyes meeting Jake’s. “Seems you got yourself in some trouble there.” He commented on Jake's situation. His tone was rather sarcastic. “Now, I’ve got to get the reason out of you. We can either do this the hard way or the easy way. I prefer the easy way.” Alaska opened his notebook, grabbing the pen.

Clearing his throat, Alaska’s eyes drifted to the handcuffs chaining Jake to the chair. “I see Auden got you first. I’ll free you once we’re done with the interrogation.” He took in a deep breath, staring at Jake with disappointment. “Now, tell me, why the hell did you deck those guards? You have no right to be in here. It is a secure place.” Alaska growled. It seemd no one wanted anyone here. After all, the wrong person could release the most dangerous criminals. So Jake’s situation was interesting, as it was a serious offense. They couldn’t do much to him. With any luck, the worst punishment being to spend a week in a cell. The lightest would be a grand warning. It depended on Jake’s story and how he presented himself. At this moment, Alaska viewed him to be a scrappy man having no reason to poke his nose where it belonged. “But if you don’t want to tell me, I could get Bane. He’d break you instantly.” There was a choice. Tell Alaska his entire scheme was to see him because of how pretty he was, or have Bane break him to tell the same thing. One seemed easier than the other. And also resulting in a potential relationship.

@Dayzed local_movies

As time passed, Jake's leg bounced rapidly as he waited impatiently for someone to come get him. Jake listened to the sounds of the place, a sudden nervous smile painted on his face. Oh fuck, that was Bane. Jake looked around, analyzing a way to get out of there as soon as possible, but found none. I mean, he seemed to be busy with someone else, so he probably shouldn't be too worried, though, recent events still hung over him, like a sense of dread that made him physically sick to his stomach. The thought of meeting him again so soon really seemed to make Jake panic slightly.

It wasn't long before someone came in. Jake had been looking down at the cuffs, trying to see if he could wiggle free, but to no avail- maybe if he sacrificed breaking a bone….
He looked up when the person stepped into the room, distracting him from his escape plan. His breath caught in his throat as it was exactly the person he had come to see. He let out a sigh of relief, at least, it hadn't been for nothing. He watched the others' movement as if taking him all in, he looked a little too content to see the man despite having gotten caught. At the turn of the chair, a huge smile spread on Jake's face, snickering softly, though said nothing on the matter.
As Alaska spoke Jake listened to him, not really taking this seriously, acting like he could care less.
The hard way or the easy way? Well, which one would get him more time to speak to him?

Jake's eyes stared into Alaska's blue ones as a look of disappointment crossed the other's face.
"You know, usually it's not a turn-on when someone looks at me like that," He said, trying to move his hand to gesture but not being able to do so. The stupid smile was still on his face as all of this went down.
At the growl and being scolded Jake's face turned a bit pink, his heart quickening. He looked away. Fuck, he was actually in trouble here. If Alaska kept talking to him like that, Jake wasn't sure he could handle it.

"Why did I deck them?" He repeated the question, feigning ignorance. "Well, I have a lot of reasons," Jake said boldly. "One, I was bored. Two, they gave me a dirty look. Three, I was curious as to what was in here. And four, something caught my attention" He said, saying 'something' instead of 'someone' to not give himself away.
At Alaska's last warning, Jake seemed to pale at that.
"Listen- there's really no reason to bring him in here, you're doing a really good job, see? I'm talking" Jake said, sounding like he was taunting, but desperation seeped into his tone.
"Besides, it's not like I did it for some evil reason" Jake explained, being overly chatty in this moment. He was slightly nervous at talking to Alaska, it was very evident in the way Jake's eyes would sort of dart to the door, wanting to leave, but not being able to.
"So, I told you right? Can I leave now?" He asked, knowing it wasn't going to be possible with the half-assed answer he had given, but saying it anyways.

Although, if he just simply told Alaska about his actual intentions, there possibly could be a relationship there.
There was a reason why Jake didn't want to say why he had done what he did. It was because of the potential relationship that could form. Jake hadn't been in a relationship in three years. Before he had met Marcus he had sworn he would never be serious with anyone, not liking the idea of being tied down, but Marcus had broken him in that aspect. After everything had gone down the way it did, Jake was terrified of getting into another relationship, his mind immediately snapping back to his original mentality. Hookups were fine and maybe he just wanted to hook up with Alaska. He wasn't sure he could handle another relationship even though it had been a while since his last.

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

Alaska stepped into the room, glancing around as he noted Jake trying to wriggle free from the restraints Auden put him in. Curious. He had little information on Jake, but he knew he was not supposed to act a fool. His organization — or what did they call it? — sent Jake here to shape up. And here he was. In an interrogation room, stuck with Alaska for 30 minutes or more. Alaska set his notebook down, opening it promptly. He didn’t seem pleased. Taking hold of the chair, he turned it around and sat in it with the back to his chest. He leaned his arms on the back, his deep blue eyes staring at Jake like a hawk. Upon noticing Jake’s enamored face, he grew bewildered at Jake’s complacency. The smile was daring. But was he daring enough? He’d want to comply. If he didn’t, it could go on his permit record, every fault being reported to his company.

Alaska took a deep breath. He grabbed the pen, clicking it open. The hard way gave Jake time to speak to Alaska. However, the hard way also gave Jake a taste of Alaska’s interrogation skills. He wasn’t rough, but he had his ways of getting people talking. It was 50/50 whether it worked, but a majority of the time, he got the information he needed. He was no stranger to the art of interrogation. Disappointment soiled Alaska’s face. Jake, in his opinion, was an obstinate fool lacking the discernment to know when to keep his nose out of people’s affairs. Alaska pondered if his perception could change, but at least Jake was cute. He had no other assets but that. It’s what Alaska thought. How this man secured a job, he couldn’t fathom — but the government would employ anyone. An intense blush flowered on Alaska’s face, his lips pursed harshly. A turn on, huh? That was new. “Well, I assure you, Mr. Satori, my disappointment is anything but a turn-on. If you keep talking like that, I might have to use hash measures.” He hissed. Now, Alaska didn’t want to treat Jake harshly. It was his job. He had to suppress any emotions that could ruin the interrogation. Emotions of flattery or endearment were bottled.

A static silence filled the space. They could hear no other sounds. The room was void of any furniture except for the metal table and chairs. The walls were a dull two-tone gray, the brick pattern showing through. Coldness moved about, this place devoid of any warmth. It was unlike the rest of the building, the homely feeling dissipating. Those who worked within security were used to the harsh nip of detainment. Along the wall, a one-way window was built in. No one inside could see outside, but everyone outside could see inside. A dim lamp hung above, barely illuminating the men. Alaska jotted down every word Jake said. “None of those are valid reasons. Being bored doesn’t give you the right to punch our guards — neither does them giving you a dirty look.” He sighed, continuing to write Jake’s answer. “If you were interested, asking a full-time agent was on the table.” Alaska kept his eyes on his notes and didn’t look up. "I can guess what that something is based on your behavior and scent.” Scent. This man wasn’t human. He resembled Bane, but they didn’t seem to be of the same species. Jake gave a rosy scent, one of enamorment. He could discern the situation clearly. Alaska flicked his eyes up, staring at Jake. He smiled at his face paling, knowing his secret weapon. “Hm, yes, you are talking, but I am not getting a straight answer.” Alaska grinned, many ideas running through his head. “If it wasn’t for an evil reason, then why enter?” He placed the pen down, resting his head on his arms. Jake was nervous. But he wasn’t about to release the boy. Not at all. “No — your story is insufficient. Tell me the truth.” And Alaska knew he was lying. The smirk on his face conveyed it.

Alaska knew Jake had a small crush on him. The telltale signs were all there. He thought nothing would come from the puppy love. The relationship wouldn’t be sufficient, for they came from two different organizations. But he was having fun messing with Jake’s emotions. After all, when you push a man enough, they soon break. If Alaska kept telling Jake his story was insufficient, he could draw the full truth from him. It was a psychic game at this point. The worst thing was this would go on Jake’s file. If Nexus asks for the file, Jake’s harrowing adventure of seeing Alaska would be blatant. The security team would have blackmail on Jake, but it likely wouldn’t need it. Was Alaska playing dirty? Possibly. Did he find Jake attractive? Maybe.

@Dayzed local_movies

At Alaska's blush, Jake's eyes bounced around his face, taking that in. The rosy look on the man's face looked good on him, Jake noted. He'd have to see more of that.
Jake cringed away from Alaska, sort of sitting back in the chair and slumping down, trying to disappear from the man's view. Mr.Satori. He called him Mr.Satori.
"You can just call me Jake," He said in return, now looking a little uncomfortable at being called by his last name. He watched Alaska jot something down as he kept talking. He sat up a little straighter to try and see what he was writing down.

Jake looked up at Alaska from his notebook when he reprimanded Jake.
"Well, I didn't know that, and besides, Jax said I needed a good reason to get in here or behave horribly- so I just took the ones that sounded easiest" Jake explained, not really thinking through what he said. He could seriously get Jax in trouble, but to him, this was all his fault, not Jax's. Jax wasn't the one who had fought the security, that had been Jake so there was no reason for him to get involved.
"No you can't," Jake said a little too quickly, a small blush appearing on his face. Scent. "And what scent? I took a shower before I went out with Jax" He said. "Though, I guess fighting Bane really did a number on me," He thought about this. He'd take another shower before going to sleep- if he even got to get any sleep.
Jake scoffed at Alaska's next line.
"Of course, you're not getting a straight answer, but that's beside the point! I gave you an answer, that should be enough?" He questioned. "And as I said, I was just curious," Jake said, now giving Alaska a playful irritated look.

Jake groaned loudly when Alsaka wouldn't let up, pressuring him to tell the truth.
"That is the truth" Jake whined a little, though he soon froze, his eyes widened a little a small realization that came into mind. Wait. Maybe he could use this to his advantage?
Jake's distraught show he was putting on soon came to an end when he sat up straighter, eyeing Alaska.

"I would be willing to talk if I got something in return," Jake said a little confidently as if that would work. He really wasn't in any position to be asking for things at this point. At first glance, Jake seemed a little arrogant, like he can get away with anything and people should bend to his wishes, but looking a little closer he seemed very insecure and was trying to make up for that. By not taking things seriously, it helped alleviate the stress he felt. If he took things too seriously all the time, he knew he would become someone less than desirable to be around. Not that people didn't already find him a pain in the ass, but he liked to think it was better than turning out like everyone wanted him to.

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

Alaska turned away from Jake, trying to keep himself under control. Emotions only brought forth his thought instead of drowning them out. He couldn’t have this happen. Alaska’s thoughts could not be known to Jake. He glanced back at Jake, shying away. Jake must hate being called Mr. Satori. Noted. He stared down at the younger man, nodding his head. “Jake it is.” Alaska muttered carelessly. Trying to keep a stoic figure while having a sassy personality didn’t work out. “You can sit up now.” Was Alaska mocking Jake? Somewhat. Ink blotted the notebook pages, each word crafting a report of Jake’s offense. Alaska refrained from letting him read the entire report. However, he let the man know what he could submit to Nexus by adjusting his hand. With each taunt, he moved his hand back. Alaska was not stupid. He knew what he was doing. Being an interrogator, Jake ought to have noticed it.

Alaska raised an eyebrow, looking Jake up and down. “Did you even receive a briefing prior to arriving? Did you even receive a briefing when you first arrived?” He was being critical, irritation growing in his voice. A small sigh came from the werewolf. Instead of fighting with Jake, he returned to his notes. “Jax was teasing you. Warning you, in fact. Not instructions on how to meet me.” Alaska scoffed, jotting down more notes. Putting his pin down, he gazed around the room, returning his stare to Jake. This man blamed his coworker for his foolish behavior. He didn’t know what was worse, Jake’s incompetence or his smeared eyeliner. Nothing would get done. A punishment already popped into Alaska’s mind, but he waited before he dealt it. “Yes, I can,” Alaska remarked, a smirk creeping across his lips. “Oh no, not that type of scent. Only werewolves can pick it up. You smell roses. The scent usually tells us that a person is enamored.” Werewolves were interesting creatures. Each emotion had a scent to it. It leached off the human body, letting surrounding creatures with powerful enough nose alert of the person’s ordeals. That is how dogs usually discern their owner’s emotions.

The room had grown silent again. They could hear faint consultation with the guards Jake fought. No other sounds penetrated. Alaska swallowed, lifting his head. Jake was right. There wouldn’t be a clear resolution to this. But it would end in punishment. “You won’t give me an honest response. We are going to wrap this up. I have enough evidence to deal proper punishment to you. So your response is sufficient.” Alaska closed his notebook, placing the pen in a little holder on the side. He cleared his throat, the sound echoing off the walls. It filled the room with the dreadful sound. “If it is your truth, then it is your punishment.” Boredom suffused Alaska’s mind. He was about to stand and unchain Jake from the chair, but Jake’s crafty words caught his attention. “What would you want?” He tilted his head, curiosity pitching Alaska’s voice. He was one to be fooled. Despite the personality he betrayed, it was simply a mask. Jake’s arrogance unsettled him, but Alaska was not cruel. He would void the punishment if he got a straight answer. Alternately, lessen the severity of the punishment.. Alaska hoped it wasn’t anything that would get him in trouble. But voiding the punishment would get him in trouble.

@Dayzed local_movies

Jake did in fact sit up straighter. He noticed Alaska letting him see certain parts of what he was writing, but not all of it. He let out a dissatisfied sound at Alaska's tease when he moved his hand again in a way where Jake couldn't see what he was writing.
"I did," Jake said casually. "Not here, but Nexus did give me one, it was a lot of threats and demonstrations" Jake snickered, though, there was a deep-rooted fear there behind his eyes when he said that. Jake knew he should be more careful, but for right now he was testing the waters of what he could get away with and where the line was drawn.

Jake simply rolled his eyes at Alaska when he mentioned wanting to meet him. He didn't say anything even though it was pretty obvious at this point. At Alaska's explanation, Jake turned a bright red.
"WRONG!" Jake sort of yelled, embarrassed. He did not smell like roses. He would deny it till he died.

Well, maybe not till he died. He just wasn't used to getting his feelings outted like that. Though, now he knew that Alaska wasn't quite human. Jake wouldn't be able to hide himself so well around this person and that intimidated him some.

When Alaska quickly closed the book, Jake internally panicked at that.
"W-wait-" He watched the other man get up. "It's not!" Jake said desperately, now seeing how he was being cornered, though, when Alaska humored him about his wants Jake gave a shaky smile in return.

"Oh- uhm…I didn't think you'd actually want to hear…" He said quietly. Jake really never thought things through, then again, he also knew no one ever heard him out.
"Just a small favor…" He said, avoiding looking at the other make in the room. A sudden heaviness and sick feeling turned in Jake's stomach. Although it may not look like it, Jake was not used to getting his way. You would think he would have learned to not get in trouble at this point, but he felt the need to be as ridiculous as he possibly could. It was the only way he had ever heard his father laugh and praise him. Jake prided himself on being low maintenance in some areas and making others laugh- those were his best attributes he had been told and he clung to that ever since. He rarely asked for anything.
"Maybe, well- I was wondering-" Jake looked at the ceiling, then to the side, like he couldn't make up his mind. "Uhhh…" He gave a nervous laugh, it looked like his head was spiraling. "Are you free? Like, one of these days? Preferably at night, not that it has to be at night, but the nighttime is really nice. I'm not sure if you drink or not, we could go somewhere else, not a hotel though, that's not what I was implying-" Jake seemed to ramble on. It was one of the few times he had been asked what he wanted and he didn't quite know how to say what he wanted, or even if it wasn't something that was going to happen, wondering if he was just being teased.

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

Alaska laughed at Jake. “Sure buddy.” It was Alaska’s only comment about the fact they debriefed him. He closed his book, doing away with the interrogation. Nothing will come of it. Not the information he needed. He huffed, watching Jake out of the corner of his eye. “Any animal could smell you a mile away. Your bright red face says it all.” Alaska was impartial to Jake’s feelings. He might date such a cute guy, for sure. But his perception of Jake was soiled. He made Alaska’s job harder than it had to be. Once he stood, he arched his back. He needed a good stretch after dealing with Jake. While Alaska was tempted to leave Jake chained to the chair, it wouldn’t be a sufficient punishment. Jake needed a place to rest his head, and Alaska was glad to offer. He sauntered over, his steps more lengthy and slow, ready to release Jake. That wasn’t until Jake begged.

Alaska turned his head, Jake’s insolent voice filling the space. His clear blue eyes, similar to those of a husky, regarded Jake with an interesting light. “What are you suggesting?” His tone still had an edge to it, but it got softer. His face bloomed with blush as Jake looked away from him. He could speculate as to the other’s thoughts. He ought to spend at least one night with Jake. If he had someone to monitor him, the man may become less irritating. The debate was harsh about whether Alaska should or should not humor Jake’s idea of a date. His face twisted with guilt. He seemed lonely. After all, no one else from Nexus followed Jake along. It was only him. At least for now. Alaska lifted an eyebrow, waiting for Jake to finish. With a defeated sigh, he nodded his head. “You can find me on Monday night in my office. It’s the door on the other side of detainment. We cane take a walk around the property. I can tell you more about the organization.” Monday nights were the least busy. Today was a Saturday, Jake’s second day as a transfer. Amity had sent him out with Jax to test what Nexus had taught him. Obviously, she found it insufficient.

Silence floated around two. Alaska grabbed his notebook, stuffing it in the pocket of his jacket. He stepped over to Jake, fished a key out of his pocket, and released him from the reinforced handcuffs. He took the pair and stuff them in the pocket of his pants. As he escorted Jake out of detainment, he gave Bane the notebook, who was hanging by the door. “You need some rest. I’m going to take you to your dorm.” Alaska led Jake into the main room of the security wing. He let him up the short hallway, back to the now desolate main floor. He’s led Jake up the wooden stairs, his first time getting a glance at the second floor. The second floor appeared to be like the main floor from what Jake could see before Alaska took him down a connecting passage to the dorms. There were three notable rooms. One was a director’s office, which has large windows, letting you see inside. The library was another room with enormous windows, so you could see inside. The third was a door that had an above-it emblem formed of weaponry. This was the armory where Laz spent his time. The war room, however, was another noteworthy space on this floor. The door leading to it had swords crossed over crescent moons.

Alaska led Jake into a hallway that conjoined the main building and a separate building. The long hallway stretched over grass. Before being spat into a separate building, tiny windows allowed everyone to view the surroundings. The floor they were on was numbered 20-29. A set of stairs led down to rooms 1-19 and up to rooms 30-100. Each room was akin to an apartment. It housed up to 4 people. Alaska led Jake to his assigned room, number 26. He clicked open the dorm room, looking around. It was empty. Jake got a private space. After entering, there were bedrooms to the left and right, each with two full-sized beds. There was a tiny kitchen and living area as well. If agents were going to live here their entire lives, they were going to live comfortably. Alaska let Jake inside, nodding his head. “Get some sleep. You’ll have to be up at 6 tomorrow.” Then he walked out the door and departed.

@Dayzed local_movies

At Alaska's laugh, Jake froze. Was he getting made fun of? Did he think it was a joke? Jake swallowed and smiled at that, but looked away. Right, because who would believe him with the way he acted?
When Alaska came over, his eyes softened as well, instead of being wide and alert. Although Alaska offered a time and place, even a topic, Jake couldn't look at Alaska anymore. Something seemed to have quickly shifted in his mood, but the reason was unclear.
Jake allowed Alaska to uncuff him, nodding to his words. He stood, also stretching, a wide smile on his face as he was free, though Jake didn't look quite the same as the moment before. He followed the male, his heart beating a little quicker when he saw Bane. Jake didn't say anything and simply walked, falling a little behind when they were out of that particular wing.

Tired eyes scanned the place, though, nothing seemed to stick to Jake's memory. When they stopped at a door and it was opened Jake peered inside from behind Alaska, eyes a little wide, looking a little shocked. Even though he had been here prior to dropping off his things, it always pulled the same reaction out of Jake. He walked in to touch the soft sheets that were on the bed. He seemed speechless, not really knowing what to say to this.
When Alaska turned to go, Jake opened his mouth in an attempt to say something, anything, maybe a thank you, but nothing came out.
The door closed and Jake was left in the room alone. Silence surrounded him. Jake turned to the bed, something like regret overtook him. He wanted to go back. Maybe this was his ultimate punishment instead of anything they could throw at him. The solitude he felt had always been there, but at least at Nexus, he was surrounded by people who he knew, even if they didn't treat him right. He wasn't sure what caused more pain, working in the place he used to have friends at, or working in a new place where everyone was a stranger to him. Jake had always felt alienated, but now he had nothing.
Jake flopped onto the bed and grabbed the fluffy white pillow from the bed, covering his head with it, and burying his face into the mattress.
You've cried enough today. Jake thought to himself, but that didn't seem to stop him as the tears slipped from his eyes. He might as well get comfortable here.

@Anxietyfilledcinnamonroll group

Sunlight shone through the windows, shining golden rays upon Jake. A flock of birds sung their bewitching tune. Ravishing colors lit up the sky, a multitude of blues, oranges, and pinks. Noise filled the air, the shuffle of people bringing life to the still building. The sun came up over the horizon, bringing warm temperatures to warm up life. Nothing could compare to the sunrise outside the city. It was glorious, almost like a watercolorist dragging their brush across the lightning sky. Blackwood switched from auxiliary power to primary. Most people made breakfast in their kitchens, while others ate in the city. A mess hall wasn’t needed, but provided. By now, the city was awake. Dog barking in the distance and morning traffic disturbed some — but not all. If anything, being surrounded by forest and rolling fields blocked out city traffic. If it weren’t for a certain agent, Jake would sleep through the morning.

Jax gotten himself dress and ready to go around 5:30 sharp. He was up before everyone. He liked it this way. Jax’d make a cup of tea, watching the sunrise out a window. Even if Gwen and he were engaged, they still opted to stay with friends. They still had their own room. But now he had a mission. By the time six rolled around, he was out the door. Jax promising Amity, Gwen, and Val to ask if Jake wanted to join for breakfast. They insisted Amity more than others. Jax’s dorm was number 34, meaning he’d have to walk down a flight of stairs. He walked down the decrepit hallway, reaching the stairwell. He descended it, reaching the second floor. Jax walked down the dimly lit walk, finding dorm 26 rather easily. He knocked before entry, receiving no answer — so he wasn’t up. Jax let himself inside. Walking inside, he checked both bedrooms, finding Jake sleeping on the right. He stood in the doorway, knocking his knuckles against the frame. “Jake. You need to get up.” His tone was gentle. “If you want time to eat, maybe join my friends and I, you need to get up.” Jax tried his best to get the man to wake up, unsure if he heard him.
