“Thank you. I will.” she said as she picked up the plate. “It was very nice to meet you, Cyrus.” she smiled warmly before heading back upstairs.
“Thank you. I will.” she said as she picked up the plate. “It was very nice to meet you, Cyrus.” she smiled warmly before heading back upstairs.
He waved before turning back to the work he was supposed to be doing, letting Charlotte head back upstairs.
Charlotte smiled as she made her way back to the room. She did remember a couple of cases where travelers slept most of the day, but she usually figured it was either general exhaustion or just one too many drinks the night before.
Rodney was still asleep when she came up, though definitely lighter now. He would eventually wake up on his own but if she wanted him to do something, she'd have to wake him herself.
Charlotte giggled at the sight and set the food down on an empty space on the nightstand. “Good morning, sleepy head.” she said gently, placing her hand on his shoulder and giving him a little shake.
Rodney blinked awake with a hum of confusion before seeing Charlotte. It took a second to process who she was before he sleepily smiled. "Morning Charlotte. Have you been up long?"
“Long enough.” she admitted. “I got you breakfast since you looked like you needed the rest.”
Rodney sat up and stretched, listening to all his bones crack and pop before relaxing and rubbing his eyes of sleep. "Thank you, my friend. You didn't have to do that."
“I wanted to.” she assured him. “And I don't need much of this myself.” she added, taking off her bracelet.
"I suppose you wouldn't. But thank you anyway." Rodney hummed as he took the tray to rest it on his lap so he could eat, patting his shoulder for Charlotte to rest on.
Charlotte smiled at the gesture but shook her head, instead flying to sit down in a corner of the tray near the fruit and grabbed a strawberry for herself.
Rodney shrugged with a smile, taking on the eggs for himself as his stomach growled. He poked it with a frown. "Shush. I'm getting there."
Charlotte giggled at his antics before taking a bite of her food, humming in content. “I hope you like everything.”
Rodney hummed as he bit into his eggs, relaxing as he tasted them. He tried his best not to inhale his food, knowing it would only make him sick.
Charlotte smiled and happily continued munching on her strawberry, though she did swipe a small piece of toast. Though it was too small to really be missed so she doubted that Rodney would mind.
He definitely noticed but said nothing. He didn't really care, he was more just happy that she was eating. After all, they both needed to eat.
Charlotte smiled softly and gave a hum as she enjoyed her meal. The bread was still nice and warm with creamy rich butter. Despite only being on the road for two days, it was quite a treat.
Rodney cut into the rest of his breakfast, occasionally watching Charlotte. "Enjoying it Charlotte?"
Charlotte nodded, swallowing her food before answering. “I am. This is very good. I wonder if the cook here made the bread themselves.” she said as she wiped some strawberry juice off her face. She knew that sometimes it was just easier to purchase things like bread from the local bakery but every once in a while… making it yourself was just so satisfying.
"I'd assume so. I could smell something baking last night. I guess they were preparing for the morning. It's so nice to have fresh baked bread. I used to make some on my own when I had the chance out in the woods. It was always lovely."
Charlotte gave another hum and nodded. “I agree. Though I am curious about trying some of your “on-the-road" bread at some point.” she smiled.
"Oh trust me, it's an art form. Creating that small of an oven whilst in the middle of the woods is just as easy as it sounds. Which is not very."
“I can believe that.” she nodded, awed by the idea. “But I’d still like to see it. I could even help you make it.”
"That'd be lovely. I can teach you how to make a mini oven for when you eventually go out on your own."
“I’d like that.” Charlotte smiled softly, ignoring the way her wings twitched at his last three words, since it was still so early in their adventure. Who knew how long they would actually travel together… But she was too inexperienced right now.
Rodney flashed a smile as he finished his breakfast, stealing a piece of fruit for himself to munch on.
Charlotte giggled and snatched another piece of his toast in retribution. With her current size, the one piece of fruit was really enough for her as a breakfast so she didn't mind if he had most of the food.
Rodney finished off the fruit and set the tray aside. "Right, what else did you get done while I was asleep? I have a feeling this wasn't all you managed to do."
“Is it that obvious?” she smiled. “Actually, I did take our clothes from yesterday down to get washed.” she admitted.
"Oh how thoughtful of you. I can't remember the last time I actually got a chance to do laundry so I'm sure the poor workers down there must hate me right now."
