"ah yeah..i understand that. not many people want to be friends with you when they find out your deaf."
"ah yeah..i understand that. not many people want to be friends with you when they find out your deaf."
"it makes communication harder or something," he rolled his eyes, "but many people suck, only the good people are willing to be your friend"
"yeah..unfortunately not everyone knows ASL, or wants to try and communicate some other way."
"Yeah, some people are just..dense" He shrugged.

Gus silently shut the door to the staff room behind him and walked over to the entrance of the closet, crouching down to make himself less intrusive. "Hey kid," he said softly, not sure if Jasper was even listening at that moment. "You okay? That sure was a lotta ruckus just now. Jus' thought I'd let you know that th' big lady with th' guns hit the road a minute ago. Do y'want to come hang out with us, or keep campin' in here fer a while?" If she said she was going to keep hiding, he planned to at least sit with her until he was sure she'd be all right. He hated the thought of leaving her alone when she was so clearly upset.
"A burden?" Travis continued to stare at Tap, and slowly his eyes began to narrow. "Okay, what's the deal with that, huh? I mean, sure, you were about to get owned by that screamer, but aside from that, you look healthy and capable enough to me. What kinda drill sergeants were in that group that looked at you and decided to leave you for dead?" He paused, studying her carefully. "Is there something you're not tellin' me, Tap?"

Jesse waits for her to come down from the roof, holding her breath the whole time she did. When both of the girls were at the same level, she let herself exhale.
She doesn't meet her with a greeting of her own, only stepping forward with confidence, going to hug her but stopping just before she would reach out her arms. She looks Elodie over with great concentration. "why are you here?" she asks, her voice still scratchy but there was the slightest ounce of concern and worry stitched within it.
Her mind was swirling with the possibilities. Had she come here to get away from Jesse? She was only protecting her and Jesse couldn't comprehend the fact that Elodie didn't understand it. Though Jesse also knew that everyone grew up the same as her. Not everyone understands the way Jesse thinks or cares for someone.
That was alright with her though. She didnt need to be understood, because Elodie is alive and that's all Jesse needed.

Cass made is way up the stairs, Ophelia following him as fast as she can, holding onto the wobbly railing Cassius had yet to repair.
Once they reach the even flooring, he turns around to the girls for a second before opening the door to the right. "theres two beds in here. The frames are a bit frail but they will do. You can make yourself at home in here. Fia plays in here every now and again but i can move her belongings elsewhere if you would like." Cass says, holding the door open for the girls.
She cursed internally, I was hoping not to tell him this soon..well I guess here goes me being alone again. She sighed softly, looking away as she stopped walking.
"I'm partially blind, I can only see shapes and colors, but the rest is mostly blurry."
She sighed, holding her arm.
he's gonna leave, I know he is.
"It's okay if you want to leave, I get it. No one wants to help the blind girl."

She jolted slightly when she heard Gus outside, her mind was scary quiet compared to how overwhelming her thoughts were earlier.
I guess they thought they had won over her mind, it sure felt like they did.
She waited until he finished talking to respond as to not interrupt him.
It would be rude to interrupt him.
"Um…" She didn't want to sound like she wasn't doing well so she forced herself not to stutter.
"I think im gonna stay in here for a while..i-if you don't mind.'
She cursed when she let out a stutter, she pulled her sleeves down over her wrists argessively.
"Thank you t-though.'

Elodie grimaced lightly and then forced a small smile.
"uhm," she trailed off "I was just out walking" she said, pulling Jupiter closer to her chest and kissing the top of his head.
"I found this kitten and we're keeping him, so sorry" she said boldly, hugging Jupiter closer and smiling down at him as he mewed quietly.
("I found this kitten, we are keeping him, sorry" … me too)
Jesse narrows her eyes down to ELodie but pretends to believe her.
was she trying to leave? does she realize she's not trapped with me? she can leave if she wants…
She swallows hard "another cat? Fine. if it makes too much noise and gets us killed, its going to be the first to die" she rolls her eyes "lets go home. I have supplies" Jesse says, holding up not only her bag but another duffle bag she had stolen from Jez.
"Yeah, some people are just..dense" He shrugged.
(I am out for today)
"Yeah I guess..a bit sad but I get over it."
"Yeah I guess..a bit sad but I get over it."
Darius hummed for a moment, "Well…its nice to meet you…I will probably have this conversation again in the near future" he smiled softly.

They looked around the room, peeking their heads in. Lyn turned and gave Cass a nervous but warm smile. “This is just fine, thank you.”
“I think we would have to consult Ophelia about moving her toys,” Sef pointed out, looking down to the girl. “Otherwise, it is simplesmente perfeito.”
"Yeah I guess..a bit sad but I get over it."
Darius hummed for a moment, "Well…its nice to meet you…I will probably have this conversation again in the near future" he smiled softly.
"I don't mind that at all Darius, i hope the next meeting is as good as this one." He smiled at him.
"Your a pretty cool person to talk too anyway, so I don't mind.'
Cass nods, not understanding her last few words. Ophelia looks into the room at her toys "You guys can play with them too!" she says, beaming up at the girls.
Cassius shrugs "well… I'll take that as a no" he says, stepping aside for the girls to go into the room. "i can bring up the food when its done" he offers. He knew he couldn't trust them fully, but the chances of them planning to kill them or hurt them in anyway was very low.
Being nice and hospitable was the least he could do.
Jesse narrows her eyes down to ELodie but pretends to believe her.

She swallows hard "another cat? Fine. if it makes too much noise and gets us killed, its going to be the first to die" she rolls her eyes "lets go home. I have supplies" Jesse says, holding up not only her bag but another duffle bag she had stolen from Jez.
Elodie kept her feet planted where they were.
"Just to clarify Jesse," elodie spat angrily "you're kind of an asshole. Don't think i'm your little sidekick and I'll do whatever you say just because you try to act all big and scary."
Jupiter mewed and she scratched the top of his head, behind his ear.
"And you will kill Jupiter over my dead fucking body." She said again, her eye's blazing with anger.
"I don't mind that at all Darius, i hope the next meeting is as good as this one." He smiled at him.
"Your a pretty cool person to talk too anyway, so I don't mind.'
"well..thanks…I try to be…cool? I guess" Darius shrugged, "I guess Im going to go find June…so she can tell me what to do." He sighed.
Jesse looks down to Elodie, not having expected that reaction. Though no emotion showed on Jesse's face as she spoke.
"You can leave if you want. I do not need you to survive." she says in a low voice. Jesse didn't need her but she did want her around. If only she could actually say that rather than trying to show it poorly through her actions.
"And i never said id be killing the cat. im saying the reapers would get to it first if its loud. Use your head for once" she scoffs.
"why are so many people so sensitive about cats?" she mumbles to herself. She didn't understand how quickly Elodie's mood changed, as all Jesse said was lets go. Though she didn't care to think about it too much. She didn't see how it would be worth her time to try to argue about it. Nor did she see a point in trying to make her stay. If she wanted to go, she would. Jesse made it herself for long enough.
Cass nods, not understanding her last few words. Ophelia looks into the room at her toys "You guys can play with them too!" she says, beaming up at the girls.

Lyn giggled a little at Ophelia’s words as Sef went inside. She looked around, then pointed. “I’ll take this bed,” she decided, “nearest to the door.”
Lyn then went inside too, to take a look. ”Está bien. I’ll be by the window then.” She said her backpack on her bed, then turned to Cassius. ”Gracias, that would be appreciated.”
"Whatever you want, hun," Gus replied gently, remaining where he was for the moment. "I only came to check on you an' make sure you were doin' alright. And just lookin' at you, I'd say you ain't." He was still worried about what Jasper would do if left alone, clearly remembering her attempt to slip away a few hours ago. "Wanna talk about it? I sure hope you don't blame yourself fer what Jez did—he's a knucklehead and brought all that on himself."
Travis didn't respond for a moment after Tap's confession. He was surprised; she had hidden her visual impairment well and he might not've guessed for a long time if she hadn't told him. Finally, after a calculating silence, he took a step closer and put a hand on her shoulder.
"Tap," he said soothingly. "I'm not gonna leave you. I'm not some cowardly scumbag like the guys you met before, aright? Listen—where I'm headed, we won't need to fight for survival like this. We'll be living in luxury, just like they did in the old days before everything went to shit. If you want, you can find the people who would've left you for dead and make them serve you. Now doesn't that sound great? Just stick with me, and I'll help you get there. I promise I'll watch your back until we find the city and wave goodbye to this hellhole forever." His voice was full of confidence and reassurance. "What do you say?"

Elodie scoffed and her face began to flush a soft crimson color in anger.
"Listen here," she said, switching Jupiter to under her arm and stepping closer to Jesse, inches apart. "I don't need you either" she said angrily, her jaw clenching and then unclenching again.
Jupiter mewed softly from under Elodie's arm.
Elodie poked a finger in the center of Jesse's chest, infuriated. "I was nice to you, when I didn't have to be, because unlike some fucking people…I think even though the world's gone to shit, that's no reason to treat everyone else that is trying to survive that way too."
"I spent to much time on you, trying to get you to be my friend, but all you do is act like you'd rather be somewhere else." She spat "honestly Jesse, get over yourself, im done trying with you, you either act like you want to be with me, or you tell me you don't, and we part ways now before we get attached to each other and you do something stupid like shot me again and then we each leave with broken hearts." She said quickly, but angrily.
Cassius nods to her "ill leave you guys then. Call for me if you need anything and if you decide to go outside, let me know please" he says quietly, closing the door.
He lets it click softly and turns to Ophelia, who is holding her dirty spoon in her fisted hand and her bowl had been set on the counter in the kitchen. "Can i have more?" She asks him. Cass nods "sure. But be careful with your spoon going down the stairs" he warns. "wouldn't want you getting hurt"

Jesse blinks a few times, biting her tongue. She doesn't move at all when Elodie pokes her chest, though wanting to take a step forward and grab her wrist to shove it away. She tries her best to have self control. As much as she could.
What was she even talking about? It was hard for Jesse to understand where she was coming from and why she was acting out the way she was.
Jesse couldn't care less about the time Elodie had spent on her trying to get close to her. It's not like Jesse asked Elodie to try to be her friend. Jesse hadn't noticed her efforts at all and couldn't really think of a time she did even when she did mention it but that was only because she had a hard time seeing people's intentions, emotions, and body language. She was always bad picking up hints and setting them down. Jesse didn't grow up around a lot of people and the people she did grow up around were always tough and/or out to get her. So she didn't understand what Elodie was doing and why she was doing it. Why would Elodie want to be Jesse's friend? What did she have to gain other than protection? That was the only reason Jesse thought she was staying in the first place and she didn't think anything of it. That was a normal thing to do right? For Jesse it was.
They hadn't even known each other for a full 48 hours, so Jesse hadn't become attached like everyone had seemed to have done.
At that last sentence she couldn't help but laugh. She lets out a small chuckle "It looks like you're the one attached. Not me. So if you want to leave, there will only be one person sad about it. And it's not going to be me." she says, taking a step back and walking away, her hand now on her gun by her waist in case Elodie tried anything brash.
She frowned at the ground, just hoping he wouldn't come and sit next to her. She didn't want him to look at her, or anything like that.
She couldn't hide it if he came over to her.
"Im- I'm f-fine really.." She spoke, not doing a great job at keeping her voice from shaking as she spoke to him.
"I don't wanna talk about it…y-you'd be disappointed..' She mumbled out, not wanting to look at him.
Travis didn't respond for a moment after Tap's confession. He was surprised; she had hidden her visual impairment well and he might not've guessed for a long time if she hadn't told him. Finally, after a calculating silence, he took a step closer and put a hand on her shoulder.

His voice was full of confidence and reassurance. "What do you say?"
She was genuinely shocked at his response, the shock showed up on her face as well. Though she quickly moved to get rid of it as she heard him ask a question.
She was..glad to finally have someone who wouldn't leave just because she was at a disadvantage compared to everyone else.
"I don't want to make people my servant, even If they were jerks. However the rest of that sounds great, so I'm in."
She smiled up at him, looking at him even though her vision of him was partly blurry.
She held out a knuckles for a fist bump, it just felt right in the moment.
She was honestly fighting back happy tears.
"I don't mind that at all Darius, i hope the next meeting is as good as this one." He smiled at him.
"Your a pretty cool person to talk too anyway, so I don't mind.'"well..thanks…I try to be…cool? I guess" Darius shrugged, "I guess Im going to go find June…so she can tell me what to do." He sighed.
"Your welcome." He smiled at Darius, "good luck with that then, I will just uh. Be here." He shrugged.
"right…" Darius nodded, he wasn't good at conversing with others, and it was easier when June did most of the talking. "Sorry, I am not good with…people" he muttered, walking fof to find June.
June came over to them, and moved Darius back to beside Evan. "Dare, why don't you keep Evan company? He seems like he could be your type" she smiled and walked away.
Evan was shocked at June pushed Darius back towards him.
"By type you mean- like friends right?-" He spoke. Not exactly understanding that fully. He just waved at Darius again.
"Hey again." He chuckled.
June chuckled, "Im kidding, teasing, don't worry" she smiled and left.
Darius rubbed his head with a sigh, "ignore her…and Hey again…" he sighed, June was an over bearing sister like person, but he couldn't complain, they were all either of them had.
Cassius nods to her "ill leave you guys then. Call for me if you need anything and if you decide to go outside, let me know please" he says quietly, closing the door.

Elodie scowled, her bottom lip slightly trembling, faltering into a frown for a quick second before becoming a scowl again.
"Honestly Jesse. Fuck you, you're so fucking full of yourself that you can't ever let anyone in and that sucks. Because no matter how much someone likes you, you're stuck on never letting anyone in." She said angrily, with an underlining of pity.
She hugged Jupiter closer, holding him in her arms and streaking hher hand across the top of his head and stopping behind his ears to scratch.
"well," she said sadly "I guess this is goodbye Jesse" she added softly her voice breaking a bit.
Maybe she did get attached to people to quickly, in a world like this one, it was hard not to feel a connection with other people you met, because there hardly were any, maybe she was attached to Jesse, she had a feeling she was, but she decided it would probably be best to leave her to her own devices before she got to attached.
