Anna sighed and brought the glass away from her lips. At Daniel's question, she glanced over at him and tilted her head. "What do you mean?" she asked
"I dunno. In life in general, I suppose." Daniel shrugs.
Anna shrugged and waved her hand dismissively. "I'll figure it out tomorrow."
Daniel shrugs again, this time with a smile. "I think you'll be too hungover to figure it out tomorrow, but okay."
Slowly, he gets up and stretches. "It's getting late, and unless you want me to haunt you, I need to go back to the office."
Anna hummed absently. "But I thought people aren't supposed to know you're there. What's the difference if you're there or not?" She slid down on the couch and giggled.
Daniel chuckles. "Well, I'm currently bound to that office since I'm haunting it. If I leave it for too long, I'll start to truly pass, and I don't want that. So as I said, unless you want me to haunt you, I should be going back"
Anna sat back up, intrigued by the prospect of being haunted. She pursed her lips and tilted her head, considering asking a question, and she eventually did. "What would that entail?"
"Well, I would have to stay close to you at all times, or at least within a half a mile of you. I'd be following you wherever you went, and quite possibly you could eventually use my abilities yourself." Daniel shrugs.
Anna listened intently. Or at least, she looked like she was. Her eyes lit up at his last statement. "Abilities? Like what?"
"Well, for starters, passing through walls like a ghost does." Daniel chuckles.
"You could also stir up ghost winds, throw hexes, curses and jinxes around like candy, and basically cause a lot of mayhem." he adds.
Anna's eyes widened tremendously. "You do all that?" she asked. "That's incredible… but I don't know if I should be able to have those abilities…"
"Well, yeah. I'm a ghost." Daniel snarks.
"And trust me, you can handle it. I've seen you with your clients, so I know what kind of person you are." he murmurs.
Anna flushed and reached up to cover her face with embarrassment. "I may have a strong outward appearance of self-control, but in the inside, it is very different. With the powers at my disposal, I'm not sure my composure will be as strict."
Daniel snorts. "And if you do misbehave, I can always turn you into a ghost anyways, that way it doesn't matter what you do."
He pauses. "Well, it would, but you get my point."
Anna's eyes became huge. "You could turn me into a ghost!?" she asked incredulously. "Please don't…"
"I won't." Daniel chuckles, but he can't help but tease Anna.
"Yet."
Anna inched away from him and took another long sip from her wine glass. "You're not funny."
"Ah, that's the thing: I think I am. Therefore, I am funny, even if you don't think I am." Daniel grins.
(Note: This boy has kept his head lowered, to avoid looking at Anna directly. Just a note. She has yet to see his eyes.)
Anna rolled her eyes. "Well, typically the views of others… oh, forget it. Fine. You think you're funny."
(Kk! :))
Daniel grins. "Yeah. I think I am."
He hears a knock at the door and sighs. "I'll get it."
He goes to the door, and there's a man standing there. He looks surprised to see Daniel, and Daniel gives the man a broad grin. "Well hello! Might I ask who you are?"
"No, don't–" Anna said, but it was too late.
The door was already opened, and the man in the doorway looking at her was painfully familiar. "Anna?"
Shit. "Harry."
Daniel cringes. "Ah. You would be the ex-husband, then?"
He sighs, and steps away from the door.
Harry eyed Daniel, then the wine glasses, then Anna. "Sorry to interrupt your night. You move on fast, Anna."
"It's not–" she started, shaking her head, but Harry cut her off.
"About the bailiff."
That caught Anna's attention. She rose to her feet, suddenly sturdy, and paced over to him. "How do you know about the bailiff?" she demanded.
Daniel intervenes, lifting his head to look Harry in the eyes. "Leave."
(Should Harry react a certain way to seeing his eyes)
(Yeah, probably. See, usually his form looks blue-ish and misty, and his eyes are what people think of as the exact opposite of light: something so dark that they have a sort of nulling effect of the light around them. However, he can't change his eyes, but he can change his form to look more human. In this way you'd know if he was a ghost, even if he looked fully human. So right now, Harry thinks Daniel is alive. And when Daniel lifts his head, he should have a reaction of "Oh, shit" or something like that. I dunno. He's your character, though, so I'm not sure how he would react to this.)
Harry's eyes widened, and he stumbled back. "What the hell?!" He looked over at Anna. "How are you doing this?"
"Doing what?" she asked, frowning in confusion.
Daniel's eyes are still locked on Harry's. To Anna, he asks "Do you want him here?"
"He can stay, yes," Anna agreed, unsure what Daniel would do if she said the opposite.
Daniel sighs and steps away. He goes upstairs and puts a Fade on himself, obscuring himself from everyone but Anna. He goes back down, head lowered once more.
