Anna shook her head. "Try to keep the exploring to a minimum, could you?" She sat down on her couch with a long sigh and sipped from her wine generously. "There isn't much to explore anyway."

Ollie's curiosity only grew, as his wind wandered to whatever else could be hidden inside the house. Perhaps there were more suitable places for him to shift. He laid his head down on his feet, curling their long tail around their thin body. A nap couldn't be so bad. Especially after all that had just happened

Anna watched her kinkajou with interest. She set her glass on the table and walked over to her desk to retrieve her laptop. She sat on the couch, sipping on her wine with her legs folded under her, and proceeded to research kinkajous with interest. "How did you even get her, little one?" she asked, pursing her lips.

Ollie sighed, thinking about his home. A long, shitshow of a trip. He thought, reminiscing on his perilous escape from those who found Ollie and his mother's identities. How he missed his mother. He jumped up onto her lap, looking at the screen with slight amusement.

"Oh!" Anna exclaimed. "Hello!" Her nimble fingers stroked his head. With her free hand, she pulled up pictures of kinkajou habitats. "Look familiar?" she asked, clicking through the slides.

Ollie chittered at the feel of her hand, practically melting just like before. He curled up just behind the keyboard. He chuckled internally, glancing at the deep brush that was nothing like the vibrant shacks that lined the brazilian coast. He sighed again, snuggling into her lap while his wide eyes hovered over the images

Anna continued to stroke her new kinkajou. "Well, if you're going to be staying with me for the time being, I ought to call you something. A name. Or do you like being called 'little one'? I quite like it." Her fingers continued to click through the slides until an email popped up on her screen. With a frown, she clicked on it and began to read the contents. She sighed. "Already assigned a new case. They can't let me have twenty-four hours to myself."

Ollie looked up, tilting their head at the thought of being called little one. He wasn't a fan. He stretched himself, strolling off her lap as he hair her exclamation. He knew what it was like, having to work when you don't want to, but he hoped her detour would give him a moment to get his… things. He strode to the door, scratching at the wood in an attempt to get the woman to open it

Anna looked up quickly, alarmed when she heard scratching. She sighed when she saw it was only her kinkajou. "You want to leave?" she asked, setting her computer aside so that she could stand up and make her way over to the door. "Alright…" She opened the door. "There you are."

Ollie chittered as a thank you, then started to dart off, looking back at the woman to let her know he wasn't leaving for sure.

After a long while of running, he made it to the secluded brush in the park where he kept his things. Shifting back, he quickly put on his sweats and pulled out the old phone he had recently found and somehow restarted. He sent a quick message to his work, eplanning that he was much too sick to come in, then started his walk back to Anna's townhouse. He didn't have much, just two outfits, his work uniform, a few coins to do his laundry… hopefully he'd be able to hide it somewhere. After all, it was one of his many talents to hide things

Anna watched it leave and closed the door again, not sure how long it would take to return if it did. She sipped from her wine thoroughly and read the email from her boss. "Nathan…" she muttered. "This is ridiculous." She shook her head and tied her honey blonde hair into a ponytail. Waves of it hung down her back – even pulled up it was still long.

(Ahhh, more eve best, I see XD)

Ollie made sure to not take too much time, time drew attention, and he needed none of that. As he approached the house, Ollie slipped his things under the porch, then shifted again, scratching at the door once more

@emilyevewrites group

(Maybe…? 😂 I’m a bit obsessed with her)

Anna jumped at the scratching. “Who’s there?” she called, standing up and heading toward the door. She cracked it open, then blinked in surprise when no one was there, then she looked down at about ankle height. “Oh! Hello, little one. Come in.” She opened the door a bit wider so the kinkajou could dart in around her ankles.

(XD Im starting to be a little obsessed too… 😳)

Ollie chirped in response, snaking around her long legs as he ventured into the living room. This whole situation might work out after all.

@emilyevewrites group

(OMGGG 😂 I'm so in love with her, I have an Instagram and Tiktok and Tumblr for her (cue my obsessive rambling… so sorry))

Anna giggled as his tail brushed around her ankles and tickled her. "I wasn't sure if you'd be back," she admitted, shutting the door behind her. "But you are, so… I didn't move your towels."

(d-dayum…)
(I might need that tiktok lmaooo)

Ollie chittered to himself, and went up the stairs instead, sniffing around the upper floor. There had to be a more ideal place to put his things.
He stopped again, shaking his small head as he sat backwards. What am I doing?! I can't hide forever… especially from… He looked at the woman, brushing his face with his hands. Awwww…. but she likes me so much like… like this. I dunno what she'll think if I shift…

@emilyevewrites group

(Haha, all my handles are the same @simpingforevebest)
(Also, I'm working on getting better pictures for her template so give me a hot second)

Anna hummed to herself, alternating between sipping on her wine and typing on her laptop. She glanced at the stairs and saw her kinkajou watching her. "What are you doing up there?" she asked with amusement. "You'd better not go into my room."

Deleted user

(I'll have to follow you! XD
(Ooh, I'm excited…)

Ollie sighed. I wouldn't do that. Not in your territory. Though, he continued up the stairs, watching out for the room that would smell the strongest of Anna. Where to hide… where to hide…

@emilyevewrites group

(That would be great! :D All my current stuff is about Eve's character from Fate: The Winx Saga, Farah Dowling)

"Where are you–" Anna called, interrupted by a knock on the door. Her face turned serious, and with trembling hands, she set her wine glass and computer down on the coffee table. She slowly walked over to the door and put her hand on the knob, but didn't turn it.

Deleted user

(I seriously need to watch that!)

Ollie heard the knock, his ears pivoting toward the source of the noise as he quickly ran back down the stairs, curling around Anna's legs. Even though the barely knew her, he felt the need to protect her. No matter what that represented itself in.

Ollie growled, but listened, sitting right behind the island as he peeked out. That's still not gonna keep me back…

@emilyevewrites group

(So better pictures for Anna are up, but Notebook is being a b***h and not letting me add more right now even though I have space. Anyway, yeah… Better pictures are up, it what I'm trying to say)

Anna answered the door and immediately stiffened. Outside was a man with a dark jacket and a dominating figure. "Good evening. I'm looking for Harry Clayton," he said roughly.

"I have no idea where he is," Anna replied, lifting her chin and widening her eyes in warning.

"Perhaps I can come inside and discuss it with you–" He took a step toward the crack in the door

"No," Anna replied quickly, her body blocking him from entering. "Absolutely not. Who are you?"

"Well…" The man said slowly. "Another time then."

Anna nodded and was about to shut the door when the man said something that startled her.

"Have a nice night, Anna."

She quickly shut the door after that and locked it with trembling fingers.

Ollie raced toward the door as it shut, growling and hissing like a, well, a wild animal.
He panted, growling at the door even after the man was long gone, scratching at it and looking back at Anna.
I can make sure he never comes back. I know full well what my bite can do.

@emilyevewrites group

Anna backed away, afraid at the display first. Then she realized it wasn't a wild animal for her to fear. Her kinkajou was protecting her. "Aw, little one," Anna murmured. "It's alright." Though her racing heart said otherwise. She slipped her phone out of her pocket and called her ex-husband without thinking.

He picked up on the first ring. "Anna?"

"Why is there a bailiff at my door?" Anna demanded with a tremble in her voice.

"Okay. I’m on my way," he responded, and Anna could tell he was already in his car, driving, when she'd called.

"Don’t worry. I handled it," she said quietly. "But please. No more, Harry." It was obvious this wasn't the first time she'd pleaded with her husband as he hung up. She put her phone away and sighed. "He never listens to me…"

Deleted user

Ollie growled, hearing the unpleasant man's voice making his fur stand up. Don't call him! Don't make that decision! He thought, only wishing he could be human for just a moment. Extremely discontented, and angered that he couldn't protect the woman, he scrambled back upstairs into a musty smelling room.
It smelt faintly of Anna, but mostly carried the scent of… old cologne.

@emilyevewrites group

Anna blinked and followed the kinkajou up her stairs. "Where are you going?" she murmured, and widened her eyes when she saw the creature enter her bedroom. "Ahh, what did I say about the bedroom, huh?" she asked, hurrying to close the door.

Deleted user

Ollie noticed the clothes- clothes that couldn't possibly be Anna's, and a bit big for him, but still, clothes! He grinned, circling the room as he sniffed around. This would be the perfect place to hide out, and perhaps look presentable when he, well, presented himself.
Then, the realization hit him. The kinkajou stumbled back, the smell of the room and the clothing suddenly becoming pungent. You dumbass! She was mad about… something! About that man! It's him!

@emilyevewrites group

Anna hesitated, breathing in the old, lingering smell that reminded her so painfully of her husband. Ex-husband. She blinked quickly and hugged herself. "Please get out," she said, too many emotions embedded in her tone. "I told you not to come in here." So many little things in this room screamed "HARRY!" and it was why his estranged wife couldn't bring herself to sleep in her bed anymore. Every night since the divorce was finalized, she'd found herself curled up tightly on her couch.
