(I ma just pretend the other crewmates don't exist until they are relevant idk when tho)
Sally walked toward Etta "here have a drink." She said handing her a jug of beer taking a sip of her own.
Eleanor looked appalled. "Sally!"
"What! Do you want a beer too?" She asked confused.
Eleanor rolled her eyes. "No. I don't like beer."
"Alright." She sipped from her own jug.
Etta backed away, shaking her head slightly. “I don’t drink… I already feel sick too.” She chuckled nervously
"I could help you with that, if you'd like," Eleanor offered.
"Alright more for me" she said pooring Etta's beer into her own jug witch was niw empty.
" okay alcoholic pour m a mug." neva said coming out of her room
Eleanor couldn't help herself – she watched Neva as she emerged from her room and strode toward them. When she realized she was staring, by that point having stared too long, she looked away.
"Alright boss" she said going to get Neva a mug.
" thaank you" neva said with a laugh
"No prob capn" she replied.
Etta smiled at Eleanor, chuckling slightly. "You sure can try."
She watched the woman's gaze to the captain and quickly looked away. She felt in the way, and quite out of place among them. She timidly looked back at Eleanor, studying the features of her face in an attempt to figure out the kind of person she really was
Eleanor smiled and winked knowingly back at Etta. "The secret is ginger. I have some in my cabin if you'd like. I swear, it works like a bloody miracle. I felt sick a lot in my first weeks."
Etta chuckled, tucking more loose hair behind her ear as she nodded.
“Oh, that would be lovely.” She smiled. “I trust you.”
After hearing Etta's agreement, Eleanor strode off toward her quarters. "Wonderful. It's refreshing to have another Brit here. Your accent… you're from the London area?"
“ wow. Leave me. Thaz fine “
Eleanor shot a glance over her shoulder. "Oh, you'll be alright," she purred and faced forward again to continue walking.
Sally came back and handed Neva her beer. "How long ya think the rookie gonna last?" She asked sipping her beer.
“ as long as Eleanor. “ she said
Bernadette laughed, shrugging slightly. "About, yeah. Worked in the new factories they've got." She mentioned quietly, glancing around the room
Eleanor's room was the same dimensions as Neva's, but it was also a much different atmosphere. Eleanor's room was elegant and refined, almost paying homage to her past life. She shook her head. "Those factories… dangerous and dirty." She paced across the room to a tiered stack of drawers. "My ginger is in here somewhere, I know it. I keep it around for an especially bad day."
Etta continued to admire the room, absolutely blown away by the pristine touches added to such a room. She glanced at the other furnishings, nodding a bit. “Yeah, there’s not much other work though…” she muttered as she watched the first mate search
Eleanor sighed and turned to face Etta earnestly. "I'm sorry. You can thank my mother for that. I've tried talking to her, but…" She hesitated, toying with the sleeve of her blouse. "She isn't a very… open listener."
Bernadette sighed almost silently, rubbing her calloused fingers down her scarred arms. "It's alright… it gets the bills paid." She smiled sadly. "Need any help? FInding the ginger, I mean."
"Well, you're here now. You can call it what you like, Bernadette, but I say it was fate that brought you to our ship," Eleanor said warmly. "And no, I know it's here somewhere. I know it." She turned back to the drawers and opened them each again. "It's in a little… glass… vial…" she muttered to herself as she searched.
Sally walked bellow deck to continue mapping her eventual journey around the world.
