Finn pressed her lips together, tugging at the fabric of her blanket.
"I uh… my friend's institutionalized. I was just going to visit her." She rasped, clearing her throat again. "I doubt she'll be able to help."
Finn pressed her lips together, tugging at the fabric of her blanket.
"I uh… my friend's institutionalized. I was just going to visit her." She rasped, clearing her throat again. "I doubt she'll be able to help."
A look of understanding seemed to pass over O'Hara, and she nodded slowly. "While it's highly recommended you tell someone that you're here, I understand your situation." She distracted herself by checking the IV levels. "Would you like more morphine?" she asked, her nimble fingers preparing to change out the fluid bag.
Finn closed her eyes and sighed, embarrassed by the fact that she had no one to tell. No one to help her. She simply nodded at the question, adjusting her position a bit. “Sure..”
O'Hara swapped the fluid bag diligently. Her fingers were swift, but if one looked closer, they were trembling. She took a breath and finished the job. "There you are," she remarked.
She hesitated a moment before placing her manicured hand on top of Elouise's. "I understand," she repeated in a murmur. "If I was in your situation right now, I wouldn't have anyone either. I'll be here if you need anything, and if you can't find me, have a nurse page me."
Finn watched O'Hara work, in awe at the skill the woman possessed. Once she had finished, she relaxed again, and observed the doctors features.
She never truly realized how incredibly attractive she was.
No matter how hard Finn tried, she couldn't keep her eyes off the woman, and blushed profusely once O'Hara's soft hand rested on her own. Her heart skipped a few beats, and she couldn't suppress a small smile. "Thank you. Thank you so much." He murmured, still in a daze
O'Hara smiled back. "You're welcome," she whispered, lifting her hand from covering Elouise's. She turned and jotted a few final notes down in the file before shutting it and facing her patient. "I'll be back to check on you in a few minutes," she promised, moving the curtain so she could leave. Once O'Hara began to walk away, heels clicking as she went, she couldn't help but recall the flush on Elouise's cheeks. It was just her imagination, right?
Finn sat up just before O'Hara left, reaching out her hand. "W-wait!" She called, wanting to see her one last time.
She blushed again, clearing her throat once more as she smiled gently. "Call me Finn."
O'Hara's eyes widened, and she headed back, evident in the growing sound of her heels. She slipped back through the curtain and noted the definite blush on her patient's cheeks this time. She tilted her head to the side a bit in confusion. "Finn? I thought your name was Elouise," she commented, taking a few steps closer to the bed as she spoke.
Finn chuckled, wrapping the blanket around her fingers as she shrugged a bit. "My last name's finnigan, and I'm not too fond of my real name, so I uh… my friends call me Finn." She looked up with a slight smile, before her expression dropped. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't keep you."
O'Hara smiled warmly. "Finn," she repeated with her accent. "Lovely name. None of the nurses or other doctor who work here call me by my first name either. I don't think they even know it." She winked, like it was their secret before waving her hand to dismiss Finn's apology. "Don't worry. It's actually a slow day. We haven't had a one in a while. Your MRI and CT scan results might be ready even earlier now, which means you can get out sooner if nothing is wrong. Go see your friend." She smiled again, leaning against the plastic railing of Finn's bed.
Finn smiled at the way O'Hara said her name, looking down as a warmth ran down her spine. She sighed at the gesture then tilted her head as she watched the woman speak, her voice soothing and as smooth as honey. She felt herself blush again, but knew she couldn't hide it. "That's good to hear. I uh… th-thanks. For everything." She stammered, her eyes locked on O'Hara's delicate features. God, she really wished this wasn't the end
O'Hara's gaze locked intently on the rising blush spreading across Finn's face, and her eyes widened. "Finn, are you alright?" she asked worriedly. She took a step closer and pressed the back of her hand to Finn's cheek to feel how hot she was, then to her forehead for a more accurate temperature read. "Darling, you're flushed."
The comment only made Finn blush more, her hand going to her reddened face as she looked away. "Oh uh… y-yeah. Im fine. I'm completely fine." She blurted, the feel of the doctor's gentle hand only deepening her flush. "It must be uh… y'know. S-something else."
At first, O'Hara didn't understand what Finn meant. Instead, she let some of her doctor instincts take over. "You feel hot," she remarked softly. "Would you like me to take some of your blankets off?" O'Hara didn't wait for an answer, she moved to pull the thin quilt down so only sheets covered Finn's body.
Finn felt a shiver go through her, biting her lip slightly and covering her face.
“Th-thanks…” she muttered, not daring to look up at the beautiful woman taking layers off her
"Do you feel ill at all?" O'Hara asked, glancing briefly at Finn as she folded up the quilt expertly and draped it at the foot of the bed. With that done, she turned and took a few steps so she was beside Finn's head again. "What's wrong?" she asked as she placed a firm hand on her patient's back and rubbed up and down gently, still not realizing what her touch did to the girl. "Finn?"
Finn took deep breaths, sighing softly at the feel of O’Haras hand, before clenching her fists and blurting suddenly. “Would you want to go out with me??” She turned even redder, covering her mouth as she stared up at the doctor, terrified. Did I just say that?? What did I just fucking do??
O'Hara blinked her wide brown eyes in shock. She's joking, was her first thought. No, she isn't, was her immediate second. She took a small step back and withdrew her hand from Finn's back, absolutely reeling from the bomb she'd just dropped. "I…" For the first time in a long while, Dr. Eleanor O'Hara had been rendered speechless. And by one of her patients, no less. "I…" She swallowed and composed herself briefly. "I'm sorry, I'll be right back. I have to drop off these forms." With that, the flustered doctor picked up the file and hurried out of the curtained-off space.
(I have a plan)
Finn hung her head, shaking with panic as she heard the familiar clicks of O'Hara leaving. She pulled the blankets back around her and rolled to her side, covering her face as she tried to turn back time. Why?? Why are you like this?? She scolded, tearing up at the thought that she had scared her own doctor away.
(Ooh… I am quite intrigued)
O’Hara walked by the nurse’s station, flushed and shaking her head in disbelief. It took Jackie only seconds to intercept her.
“What is going on with you? Where have you been?”
Quickly, O’Hara put up her natural steely front. “Doing my job, Jacks.” She placed Finn’s file in a wire basket and watched as another patient was wheeled in on a stretcher. O’Hara sighed. “I have to take that. In a few minutes, could you check in on Bed 4 for me? And…” She plucked a sticky note from Zoey’s desk and a pen from Sam’s. Quickly, she jotted something down on it, folded it up, and handed it to Jackie. “Give her this, would you?”
“You got it,” Jackie said, and O’Hara strode away dutifully to claim the next patient.
—
As she’d promised, Jackie went to check on Finn in about five minutes from when she’d talked to O’Hara. “Hi, honey,” she greeted, checking the IV fluids. “How are you feeling?"
Finn sat up, quickly pasting on the best i'm fine face that she could. "Much better." She rasped, adjusting her position slightly for the nurse. "I think O'Hara checked the IV earlier…"
"Just doing my job," Jackie murmured, reading a few notes and Finn's monitors. "O'Hara had to take another patient. I think she'll be back to check on you later, but she wanted me to give you this." Jackie extended the note O'Hara had written towards Finn.
Finn blushed hard, shakily taking the note and unfolding it slowly. "Oh, uh. Alright." She mumbled, beginning to read the note
Written on the paper in elegant handwriting that could only belong to Dr. O'Hara was one simple word. Yes.
Finn's heart leaped as she smiled excitedly, reading the note over and over and over until she couldn't get the image out of her head. She held it close to her chest, smiling up at the ceiling. Maybe… that wasn't a mistake after all.
Jackie couldn't help but smile, even though she knew nothing about the events that had transpired in the last 10 minutes between O'Hara and Finn. "Good news?" she asked, leaning to adjust a few of the IV tubes.
Finn grinned, nodding excitedly as the pain was forgotten for just a moment. "Yes." She smiled. "Very good news."
Jackie nodded and began to clean up a bit around the bed, a signal that Finn would most likely be on her way soon. "O'Hara's the best. I would trust her with my life."
Finn watched, fidgeting nervously at the thought of the doctor coming back. What was she going to do??
"Y-yeah…" Finn stuttered, pressing her lips together and staring down at the bed. "She is really great."
Finn didn't have to wonder for long. In fact, it was mere seconds before the curtain drew back to reveal Dr. O'Hara in all her glory. "I am, aren't I?" she asked, stepping into the space with a wink at Finn. "How's the head?" She walked in, drawing the curtain closed behind her, and took a position on the opposite side of the bed as Jackie. In her hands, she held lab result papers and kept glancing between them and Finn. Her eyes caught on the note in Finn's hand, and she smirked for a moment before letting it drop so Jackie didn't see.
"I thought you had a patient," Jackie remarked, arching her eyebrows as she looked over at O'Hara.
The doctor instantly frowned. "I thought I did too. Cruz swooped in like a damned vulture and edged me out!" She rolled her eyes. "I hope he gets his someday. And I hope I'm there to see it when it happens."
