Farah continued walking. "Do you… Do you know where we could start? I haven't the faintest idea."
Farah continued walking. "Do you… Do you know where we could start? I haven't the faintest idea."
Eiji shrugged. "We've checked the internet, weird corners of the city… asked around for connections. All sorts of stuff, and we've come up empty."
Farah sighed, her frustration showing clearly on her face. "There's nothing?" she asked for about the hundredth time. "You're positive?"
"I mean, you're welcome to keep looking, but the odds aren't good." Eiji sighed, looking exasperated.
Farah sank onto a bench. "I don't know how much longer I can do this. I miss him."
"I know… and I'm sure he's doing everything he possibly can to get you back, okay?" Aiki said softly. "Saul's determined."
Farah nodded. "Oh, I know," she replied fondly, a small smile gracing her stressed features.
"I'm sure everything will be okay. We'll do what we can do get you home, okay?" Aiki smiled weakly.
Farah nodded. "Alright," she said softly. Her warm eyes met Aiki's. "Thank you. I'm sorry for snapping earlier."
"It's fine…" Aiki insisted. "I'm sure I was snippy with you at times when I was in the Otherworld too."
"You were very brave," Farah recalled. "You handled it well, given the circumstances."
Aiki smiled weakly. "I was mostly pretty stressed from what I remember. Hyperfocused on trying to go home, yeah?"
Farah smiled back. "Yes, I can't blame you. But that doesn't mean you didn't handle it well."
"Glad you think so…" Aiki sighed. "Is there anything we can do to help while you're here?"
Farah shook her head slowly. "I don't think so."
"Alright… what do you want to do right now, then?" They asked.
Farah shook her head. "Let's just head home. I don't want to keep you two out for longer than you have to be."
"Alright, then… let's get going." Aiki stretched a bit and Eiji watched quietly. Thankfully, they both seemed to have settled down for now.
Farah rose to her feet and began walking, knowing they'd catch up to her.
Aiki and Eiji trotted after Farah, glancing between each other for a moment before they followed.
Farah walked ahead, paying attention to people around her but not focused. That was when the man from the other night saw her again.
"Ayyye, it's Miss Feisty!" he called. "How much?"
Farah inhaled slowly and kept walking.
Aiki and Eiji growled. Being extra aggressive due to their hormones was actually a benefit in this situation. They both glared at the man with their tails bristling and their ears turned back, and flames flickered around Aiki's shoulders.
"Oh, you had to hire bodyguards cause you can't handle yourself? I see how it–"
Farah whirled around and used her magic to smash a window beside his head. "Careful," she snarled. "You could get hurt playing with fire." The man was speechless, and Farah stormed off.
Aiki and Eiji huffed, still glaring at the man as they walked off in tow of Farah. "See? The guys here suck. I always feel uneasy when I'm in this part of town…" Aiki shuddered a bit and sighed, settling back down.
"Tell me about it," Farah muttered. "Borderline sex offenders. The whole lot of them."
"Yeah… we could go back and beat him up for you." Aiki offered, starting to roll up their sleeves.
"No, don't," Farah quickly objected. "First off, I can handle myself quite well, thank you. And second, I don't want anything to happen to either of you."
Aiki whined in protest. "But he deserves it…" Eiji nodded, agreeing with his twin for once. "They have a point. He does deserve it."
"He'll get his payback someday. But not today and not with the two of you," Farah said, and her tone was final.
The twins stuck out their tongues, but reluctantly complied. "Fiiiine… can we train when we get home?" Aiki asked.
