Eleanor looked up at Neva and flirtatiously scrunched her nose. "Sorry, Captain."

"Don't call me Sal." She insisted with a stern look.

Oh, I am using that, Eleanor thought, heading to the portside and leaning over to look into the ocean. Her black skirt snapped around her ankles thanks to the wind.

Sally walked toward the bow of the ship and stared off to sea. She took a deep breath in and exhaled the sound of the waves ringing in her ear.

neva went back to her room, continuing her map assessment.

Eleanor waited a few moments before she went and knocked on the door to Neva's quarters.

Sally stayed on the bow of the ship then walked over to deal with her crewmates.

"come in," she said softly and dipped her pen,

Eleanor entered and shut the door behind her. She walked slowly over to Neva's desk and looked down at the map. "Making progress, I see."

"yup". she said and never lookedup from her map.

"Anything I can do?" Eleanor asked, leaning against Neva's chair. Her voice was different now than it had been on the deck. Softer. Genuine. Meaningful.

As Sally was taking her crew mates to get some rest she couldn't help but feel responsible for each and every one of them.

Eleanor was not that much of a help with the crew mates and Captain Neva helped out whenever she could but she was always busy and rarely had time to help out the crew. She knew that all the crew mates looked up to her and she felt like she had to help them, because if she didn't then who would?

neva gave a soft inhale, yawning softly afterwards. " no eleanor, its a captains job to do this.."

Eleanor sighed. "And it's a first mate's job to help the captain with her excruciating list of duties."

" then help the crew without pissing them off. i dont need a fight added onto my list." she said and looked up, her pale blues watching eleanor

Eleanor straightened and nodded. "Alright," she replied, ignoring the piece of her that seemed to ache whenever she was around Neva. "Whatever you say, Captain." She headed back out and sighed quietly once the door was shut.

Sally came back after dragging the last of the crew mates back and saw Eleanor walk out. She scoffed and rolled her eyes.

neva sighed. she couldn't let her crew see her stress. she couldn't break in front of them. not again.

Eleanor cut her eyes at Sally and strode over to her. You can do this. Play nice, she thought to herself. If not for you, then for Neva. She sighed and gave Sally a once-over. "Anything I can do to help?" she asked tightly.

Sally looked over. ah geez she thought then looked over towards a mop perfect! She could do mopping while Sally took care of the actual important things. Sally walked over to the mop and handed it to Eleanor."mop the deck." She ordered with a sly look on her face.

neva ended up falling asleep on her map, her head ducked in her arms. she was snoring softly when her door creaked open from the sway of the boat

Eleanor's eyes narrowed. She gritted her teeth as she thought about Neva and snatched the mop from Sally's hand. "For the record," she declared, leaning a touch closer to Sally to convey her words more thoroughly, "you don't give orders. Neva and I do."

Sally looked deep into her eyes. "You don't even care about the crew. You never talk to any of them only me and Neva and when you do your giving orders. Do you even know their names? Mop the deck, come get me when your done." She told her and left to go double check they were on course.

Eleanor's mouth dropped open slightly, and she watched Sally go. Eventually, her fingers tightened their grip on the mop handle, and she began the task of mopping the deck per Sally's instructions. Not orders.

neva hadn't woken for a bit now, sleeping solemnly

Eleanor passed by Neva's door as she mopped. She debated knocking but turned away at first. No, she had to know. She raised her fist and knocked on the door soundly.

the door creaked open at the force of the knock, exposing the heavily sleeping captain. her head was resting on her crossed arms and her face keeping a peaceful look.

Sally looked back to see how Eleanor was doing. As per usual she was knocking on Neva's door slacking off. If she wasn't the first mate she would get the scolding of a lifetime! She continued to pull the sails in the correct direction and tie the ropes back down.

Eleanor left the mop propped up outside and slipped into Neva's quarters, shutting the door behind her. She entered slowly, quietly to not wake the sleeping woman.

Sally moved the ship west towards their next stop. Neva was still figuring out where they would go after that so for now Sally was only concerned with getting their. She walked toward the crew mates cabin to check up on them they were all out. She decided to let them be for today they work hard enough after all.

Sally walked over to a barrel and got herself a glass of beer. She was waiting for Eleanor to finish mopping the deck since she needed help with her next task.
