shuichi felt the burning pain, his body froze for a minute. he looked around, seeing a fimilair face before his eyes clouded and the ground rush to meet his face.

It wasn't incredibly long before that scene was being investigated, as it was only a mere few meters away from the other crime scene. It was strange how the top detective was suddenly injured, the attempted murder in broad daylight, the police nearby, and yet, it was still a mystery… They were focused on figuring things out, a pause in their other investigation being set…

While all of this was going on, Kaito remained at their house, as he couldn't do much else. He already missed Shuichi, and he was a bit concerned for his safety, but he thought he was going to be okay.. That changed when his phone rang, and he was informed of his boyfriend's condition… In a panic, he quickly stood up, but he almost fell immediately upon standing..

Well, that's not gonna work… If I can't take myself to see him, I'll just have someone take me to him…! His phone still in hand, he called Kokichi.

"Look, I know we don't like each other, but Shuichi was shot…! I'd go to the hospital and figure out more about his condition myself, but I can't…! Just take me to him…!" He was clearly panicking. "I can't lose him, Kokichi…!"

shuichi woke up, his chest was burning with pain. he winced as the lights blinded his temporarily sensitive eyes. "hngh…" he groaned in pain.

The doctors were trying to calm him, trying to explain what had happened to him, but then, they were interrupted quite suddenly, another patient needing immediate help being brought in just as Shuichi had finally regained consciousness…

" where?.. wheres kito?.." he slurred

"We contacted him as soon as you were brought in. He was here a few minutes ago. I'm unsure where he went, but I'll try to find him. I've got another patient to go help, though.." The doctor attending to him sighed. "Just tell me what he looks like. I'm sure he's here…"

" i.. i .." shuichi winceds another wave of pain washed over him. " owe.."

"You'll be okay.. The painkillers should kick in soon.. I've got to go now… I'm sure Kaito will show up.." He sighed as he left the room..

shuichi could feel the tears pricking i his eyes as he moved to lay on his side.

Upon seeing the patient, the doctor immediately knew what was going on. "My last patient was looking for him… Let's get to work…"

"Speaking of your last patient, I'm gonna go see him…" Kokichi sighed, walking into Shuichi's room. "Shu…we need to talk…"

shuichi looked up "hmm?"

Kokichi looked away for a moment, trying to blink back tears. He had finally accepted that he cared about Kaito just for this to happen.. Then he turned back to Shuichi. "Shuichi…I hate to tell you this…but Kaito suddenly lost consciousness again.. I thought he was okay as we were waiting, but then this happened… He's already being helped, but it isn't looking good…."

"…" shuchi looked away

"I know…" He held the other close to him. "First you and now him…" He was almost crying. "I can't take it! I know I technically can't control things, but I don't care anymore! If I say you guys can't die, as the Ultimate Supreme Leader, you cannot die! The world has to listen!" His logic was messed up due to the stress, but he was trying…

" kuichi, " he said softly, reaching out and putting his hand on the others face. " well be fine.."

Kokichi looked at him. "Of course you will…! I won't just let the world take you guys away…! I won't allow it, so it can't happen…!"

shuichi laughed, wincing harshly afterward

"Just…he can't die…! You can't die…! It's not gonna happen…!" His tone was still rather frantic, though he was convinced that he could determine the outcome, it being the only way he could handle it.. "Again…! It can't…! I won't allow it…!"

shuichi hesitated a moment before putting his forehead on the others. " everything will work out, ccalm down.."

"I am calm, Shuichi…!" It was a blatant lie, but that was nothing unusual coming from Kokichi.. "Why wouldn't I be…? I've already commanded the world to let you guys live..! I've got no reason not to be calm…!"

" your freaking out.. i can tell.." he said. he pulled the other closer, whimpering softly at the exertion on his body

"I am not freaking out…!" He meant to deny that in a much calmer tone than he had.. "Again, I've got no reason to freak out…! I know you guys will live…! I mean…I'm only in control here…!"

shuichi sighed and laid down. " dont lie to me." he said softly

"I'm not lying, Shuichi…!" He had convinced himself of his own lies, so he was telling the truth in his perspective…

shuichi pulled up the bankets. " want in on it? their warm,"

"Shu….I am perfectly fine…! Just know that you and Kaito will be fine…! Have to be…! I said so…!" It was the only thing on his mind, trying desperately to keep convincing himself of that..

shuchi shook his head, pulling kukichi in and under the bankets before nuzzling up to him " perfectly fine.. ya human heater.'

"Shuichi…I wouldn't lie to you like this…!" Now that statement was the truth, the extent of his lies being what he found truthful in his current state. "Just know that everything's okay…!"

" i know its going to be okay," he said and yawned.

"I knew you'd believe me…! I wasn't lying..! See…?!' His tone still remained frantic. He was trying desperately to calm himself, but that only resulted in the delusion having a better hold of him, the lie he told himself only growing more convincing as a way to ignore the reality of the situation..
