(Lol this starter’s probably gonna be really bad so,,, just a heads up)
It was another day at Light in a Cup, and Isera was in the supply closet, taking inventory. The general manager, a harpy they addressed as Mrs. K had assigned her with the task, but it was one of those that bored her greatly. Her eyes were dull as she looked over the various stacks of items; the coffee beans, the chocolate syrup, the cream. Though she tried to give her best guess on the amounts of each item they had, her eyelids were heavy and she was honestly about to fall asleep.
Outside of the supply closet, customers of the coffee shop were entering or already inside. It seemed like it was going to be another busy day.
Donelle was waiting at the front of the line, in front of the counter in which the employee stood, but today the area behind the counter was empty.
No one else was currently in the shop, just Donelle and the empty register. "Hello?" Donelle called throughout the store. "Is anyone in here?" She asked. She listened intently and heard slight rustling coming from the back.
Kiri walked into the cafe, noticing the people gathering inside of it.
Crap, I'm late..
he quickly moved to get behind the counter and put on his apron, turning to donelle.
"my apologies, I was running a little late this morning. What can I get for you?" He spoke soft and smooth, though there wasn't much of a smile on his face as he addressed the person Infront of him.
He didn't cross his arms though he wanted too, he heard the shifting in the back area and assumed that must have been isera during stock check.
Donelle smiled at him politely, giving him the idea that she understood his predicament almost to much.
"I'll just have a hot chocolate please" she said lightly, her tone laced with sympathy and politeness.
Always treat others with respect he mother told her when she was put in the hospital you never want their last memories of you to be known as you making them feel upset or disrespected
she quickly pulled out her wallet, grabbing a fifty dollar bill and handed it to the guy behind the counter, she leaned closer, to get in his direct earshot.
"I'll pay for the three people in line behind me too" she added with a small smile. Taking another twenty dollar bill out of her wallet and placing it in the tip jar that sat empty in front of her, she slipped her wallet back into her purse quickly.
She hated being known as the woman with money and wanted to use it to brighten other peoples days whenever she could, to do good in the world with it.
His eyes widened slightly at the fifty dollar bill Infront of him, from the women in line before moving to put the fifty dollar bill into the cash register, and then moving to start make her hot chocolate behind the counter, thinking about what she just did before setting it down and calling her order.
"One hot chocolate!" He then moved back to the register and started to take other people's orders as to keep the flow going.
Mindy made her way into the coffee shop, looking around the place and seeing one guy at the counter, and a girl leaving the line, she must have already ordered them she moved to go make her way to a table and sit down there, not exactly wanting interaction.
