that would work! if your character had never really been outside of the kingdom—or if they had gotten hurt in the clash between their search party and Lumi/the others—then it would make sense that they’d have to rely on the circus for help, even if they didn’t want to. either would give them an excuse for joining the group at first, and they could rationalize it by saying that they’re waiting to isolate Lumi somehow to take them out.

or you could also have their magic exposed in the battle with the search party and then have some of the members of it survive? which would mean that your character couldn’t go back to the kingdom out of shame/fear of punishment. so they’d pretend to join the party because they’re like them, but in reality they’re trying to redeem themselves by killing Lumi.

Okay, I love all these ideas so so much, sorry I wasn't able to be here, I had a really busy weekend. I'd like to add that my favorite romantic trope is friends to lovers, so if somebody wants to be childhood friends with my character, i'd be down.

aw, wish I could help with the friends to lovers! but since Zelra’s not really actually inside the kingdom at the start he probably can’t fill that role :(

also question if I have downtime is it ok if I think up some scenery/places for them to travel through? I love fantasy settings :)

Usual Outfit/Clothing Style: He likes dressing in pastel colors. He likes wearing soft clothes, like sweaters and coats, though they occasionally enjoy wearing showy outfits, like short shorts and crop tops.
Personality: Eccentric and sweet, they are very open and kind to people, though they often forget personal space and boundaries. They are also extremely oblivious to their surroundings, which makes it sort of hard to distinguish enemy from friend and friend from crush. Very energetic, though it's mostly expended on talking and hugging, because they don't much like running or any other exercise for that matter (though he exercises anyways). Though unseemingly at first, they have a very strict schedule and are very responsible with it.

Strengths: Great memorization and adaptation skills (street smart), very brave, and surprisingly strong (can lift about 200 pounds with both arms)
Weaknesses: Poor learning skills (Not book smart), refuses to show negative emotions, easily distracted
Powers: His hair can grow in volume and length to trap things in it, whether it be people or things. It makes shoplifting very easy. It also has a strangely sweet aroma, like cotton candy.
Brief Backstory: Raised by loving parents in the kingdom, and was part of a lineage of royal guards. His dad died when the conspirators attacked the royal family, and he and his mom were left devastated, having to move out and live among the impoverished. Though he was encouraged not to use his magic, he did anyways in secret. There he was raised to be a protector more than anything else, and he did, though they committed a few crimes along the way (mainly shoplifting)
Other: He hates when people wake him up early. He likes physical touch and snow.

Ty has grey hair and lines beneath his eyes; both contribute to making him seem older than he is. He is quite young, but due to both his temperament and the premature greying of his hair, he often seems older than he is. He also has a bit of an RBF, and seems very unfriendly (because he is) at first glance. He has scars over his right eye, though he can see out of it just fine. His eyes are green. Ty is rather tall, standing at 6'1", with broad shoulders and a toned form. Long, jagged scars down his back, on either side of his spine.
Usual Outfit/Clothing Style: Button-ups and dark slacks, typically. Things he can move in easily. (idk i'm bad at these)
Personality: Ty is quiet and solemn, much of the time, and doesn't smile often. He takes a while to speak, preferring to think over what he is going to say before the words leave his mouth. Can be melancholic, too, and very often taciturn. Despite all of this, he is very soft and gentle with anyone he cares about/lets down his walls for, but those people are rare and few. Does not allow hugs (but he fucking needs them). Hates magic and magic users/beings/people, including himself.

Weaknesses: Emotional intelligence is approximately 0; this man is an absolute idiot in terms of ~feelings~ and ~emotions~ and that kind of things. (I'm bad at strengths and weaknesses okay??)
Powers: Weather (mainly storm) manipulation and flight
Brief Backstory: Tychus was born with wings. When their country was taken over, he was very young, but old enough to form memories. One of his earliest memories is of his parents having to pin him down and cut off his wings, so that his wings would not get them all killed. His younger sister was born when he was 4, though she, thankfully, did not have wings. Ty kept his magic hidden, and for a while, things were fine. His sister, however, showed her abilities when she was 4, in a way that was impossible to hide; she lit a priest on fire with nothing but her eyes. As a result, she was executed. His parents were as well. As he was seen as "normal", he became a ward of the church, where he pushed his powers further and further down. Talking about magic tears at him, because while part of him cannot believe a child would ever deserve death, he has had "magic is evil" hammered into his skull for years and years. While he hates the death of children, he believes that it can be necessary in order to eradicate magic, which he can only see as harmful and leading to pain. Ty has been used as an assassin/mercenary ever since he was 16, and is quite used to causing death. All the stress, anger, pain, and fear from everything he went through as a child prematurely greyed his hair; he was grey by 14.
Other: Hasn't really known true kindness in years and really needs therapy

so I thought up some potential location ideas! we don’t have to use any or all of them, but I thought since they’re on the run and with a traveling circus that changes in location would happen pretty frequently :)

also if you see mentions of a sea in the list I figured that there could probably be an ocean to the north or south of Elorim/the other countries, like they eventually lead to a coast, but let me know if that doesn’t work!!

One:
A valley overflowing with a special type of flower. They’re about fist-sized and perfectly round, and they glow a range of pretty colors. People often harvest them to use as natural lights or torches, as they last for quite a while even when uprooted.

Two:
A desert-like terrain made out of soft, dark gray sand. It is mostly dry and empty, though it does have several small oases. It is full of giant animal skeletons—rib cages, skulls, and even huge teeth—that make traveling on foot almost necessary.

Three:
An orchard of trees with white trunks and leaves of various shades of purple. They grow very juicy, sweet fruit that are a bit similar to plums. The pollen that the trees release has been known to have rather strong effects in some people, including severe lightheadedness and hallucinations.

Four:
A relatively small canyon made of reddish rock streaked with gold. Due to regular rain, the features of the canyon change quite frequently. This can make traveling through it confusing. After storms, rainwater pooled in natural basins will shimmer from all the gold dust that was kicked up.

Five:
An extremely foggy, constantly dark forest where dangerous animals have been known to lurk. It is also home to many helpful medicinal herbs and fungi, though not many are brave enough to retrieve them.

Six:
A smaller desert that eventually leads to a beach. The sand in it is mirror-like, meaning that sunglasses and skin protection is a must at all times to avoid severe damage. It is freezing cold and windy in this desert.

Seven:
Basically a massive coral reef but on land. This special reef is home to many types of flying creatures rather than fish. Most people avoid it because it is easier to go around than deal with its tough, oddly textured surfaces.

Eight:
A big graveyard filled with old bells and rusty wind chimes. There was a superstition long ago that wind was actually spirits trying to speak to their ancestors, and so people tried to communicate using musical tools. Eventually, the graveyard was left in a state of disrepair because the nearby town was evacuated.

Nine:
A mountain by a beach (the same one that was mentioned in Six) that used to be an inactive volcano. The terrain is hard to traverse, but it is breathtakingly beautiful.

we can always come up with more as they go along, and this definitely isn’t in any sort of order! :)

thanks! I thought it might be easier to plan a couple out beforehand so we wouldn’t have to worry as much about it during the actual thing! speaking of, I’m super excited for all the characters meeting, that’ll be so much fun :)

Also for Ty's "flight": he can't really fly anymore without his wings, but he can jump really high/far even without them. Also the wings could grow back, if he would let them; every now and then feathers start pushing out of the scars bc the wings are trying to grow back, and he has to pull the feathers out again

I forgot that people having wings is a trope that I love so I’m very excited for that to eventually come into play, especially since it sounds as if it’ll have big hurt/comfort themes

lmao yeah! Yeahhh it hurts to pull the feathers out but he's fucked up enough that he thinks he somehow deserves to be in pain, and so him finally letting them grow back would be a really really hard thing for him to do

He would be intimidated at first because he's over a foot taller than him but then he would probably be very emotionally attached and demand to be carried most of the time because beefy 👀👀
