“ I.. I'm fine. He said standing back up “ I can't sit right now. “ he said still shaking lightly. His watch had just started fading from yellow. He pulled Amelia into a hug. “ you fucking scared me.”

Amelia noticed his watch with concern, but gladly accepted the hug.

“I’m sorry if I did. Shank, the asshole, caught me off guard. He’s ex-military, and I knew I couldn’t fight him alone. He’s typically mellow, but I guess Maxim offered him extra pay to capture me. I didn’t even realize they were here,”Amelia said.

“ I'm sorry, I knew. He.. Maxim.. Approached me at the market. He was..was near the ships “ he said, hugging her tighter.

His words nagged at her a bit. Was that why he had seemed a bit tense? Why didn’t he mention it? Why?

“Shit. That bastard likely followed you here. He’s a fucking hound!”she hissed.

Abruptly, the monitor beeped, signaling an incoming message. It then beeped again, as if it had been answered.

“Uh, sorry for just now hacking into your messaging system, I promise I won’t do it again. It’s, uh, Jonathan. I followed Shank, the old sneaky bastard, when he suddenly decided to get up from napping to one of his old audiobooks. Um, he’s passed out right now, and I’m standing in front of your door. I just want to check on ya, and maybe meet your new pals. I’ll leave if ya want me to.”

The voice went quiet, but the call continued. Amelia sighed, not sure if she was in the mood to talk to anyone besides Keigo.

“ I'm concerned , maybe the bitch of an issue x is with him.. “ he held Amelia close “ I didn't tell you because I didn't want you to run. But clearly, that's not even an option now. “

Amelia rubbed his back gently, relieved by his explanation.

“I’m not the running type. If anything, I would have chased after him so I could shoot him again, then come right back,”she said.

Jonathan loudly cleared his throat.

“This call is still going, ya know that right? Do I, uh, need to come back in an hour or two? And, fucking figures that Maxim would be the source of all this. God, he’s been a pain in the ass lately.”

Amelia snorted. She then looked at Keigo, staring into his eyes.

“You alright? Want to meet Jonathan?”

“ sure why the hell not” he said, looking at his watch “ get your ass in here “ he said more to the man then anyone else

The door opened and a short youth with dark brown hair stepped in. He shut the door and ended the call, then froze at the sight of Keigo.

“Holy shit, you’re huge! Look at me, the little kid in a room of adults. Are you two together? Nevermind, you don’t have to answer that. Ahem, anyway, I’m Jonathan, folks call me Beta-Man, and Maxim is my piece of shit, older brother. And, of course, Emma here, is like a sister to me. Speaking of, how ya been?”Jonathan said, his voice a bit rushed.

“Jonathan, you need some serious decaf,”Amelia snorted.

“Nah, ya know I only drink the good shit. Espresso all the way!”Jonathan replied, glancing at her with a smile. His eyes immediately locked back onto Keigo, clearly a bit nervous.

Keigo gave a warm smile “ I'm not that tall.. Am I?” he said. He looked down at Johnathan “ you have one hell of a description on lady's and yes Amelia is my girlfriend.” he said answering all of his questions.” theirs a coffeemaker in my ship, you could help yourself.”

Jonathan chuckled.

“Well, to me, ya are. You’re, like, almost a foot taller than me. And, uh, yeah, I’m a little obsessed with women, particularly the thick ones. Just, don’t look at my browser history…”Jonathan trailed off with a laugh.

“There’s a story there, but that’s for later,”Amelia mentioned with a chuckle.

“Poor Bull still has nightmares!”Jonathan laughed.

He then cleared his throat.

“Anyway, thanks for the coffee, but I just finished a big ass mug of it, so I’m good. And, nice, though be warned, Emma has a bit of a temper.”

Jonathan then paused, as if just realizing something.

“Wait a minute, did you call her Amelia? I thought you dropped that name. Last time I heard ya use it was, like… two months after ya joined the gang,”Jonathan said, looking between the two in confusion.

Keigo flustered slightly “ were a little closer then ya think mate.” he said jokingly. “ just know your always welcome on my ship and down be scared by toaci. He's annoying but nice. “ Keigo said while trying to change the subject

Amelia snickered at Keigo’s response.

Jonathan looked between the two for a moment, then shrugged, bewildered. He then laughed.

“Alright. And who’s Toaci, one of your shipmates? Or is it crew? Hmm… you’ve got that captain sort of feel. By the way, I didn’t get your name. Oh, and Emma, I haven’t gotten an answer yet on whether ya wanted to meet the thick lady I mentioned earlier,”Jonathan said.

“Honestly, I was thinking of not going. There’s too much tension right now, and Shank is proof of that,”Amelia replied, not wanting to elaborate on how shaky she still was about her last encounter with Maxim.

“Ah… yeah. I totally get that. It’s probably a good thing anyway, because big brother has been a fucking menace to everybody. Hell, there was one point where I thought Boris was going to stab him with one of his scalpels. And you and me both know that Boris doesn’t get pissed off for shit!”

Amelia sighed, shaking her head.

“But, beside that, it’s a shame ya aren’t going,”Jonathan added.

“Well, I’ve made up my mind,”Amelia said.

Jonathan nodded.

Keigo chuckled “ my name is Keigo saberous. But you can call me Kei or Keigo. “ he said and moved to open her ship door. Keigo whistled a few notes before a small colorful bird oh so well known as toaci. “ and this would be toaci. “ he said letting the bird perch on his hand “ toaci there's Amelia, “ he said kindly to the bird and let it fly over to her.
“ and yes I am the caption of my crew, and ill say this only once, fuck with them you fuck with me and I don't miss. “ he looked to them as the question was brought up about the ship. “ I agree with Amelia, we can't risk an operation if more than half the team can't get along.”

“Hi, Toaci,”Amelia greeted as he perched on her shoulder.

Jonathan peeked out the door momentarily to see that Shank had vanished. Then his eyes widened at Toaci’s appearance, shortly before he smiled.

“Didn’t expect a bird, but damn is Toaci pretty. Oh, and to better introduce myself, my full name is Jonathan Verthan. And Toaci is inspiring, because I might have to look into birds now. If I get one, it’s going to be obsessed with chips, computers, and big women,”Jonathan said, laughing.

Amelia snickered.

“I think it’s already too late. You qualify in all four,”Amelia joked.

“Shit, you’re right!”Jonathan joked back.

After a moment of laughter, Jonathan cleared his throat.

“Anyways, to more serious subjects. It’s good to know that you’re the captain, and no worries from me, friends of Emma’s are friends of mine. And, I definitely understand that. With the situation as it is with Maxim, a mutiny in the near future wouldn’t surprise me. But, besides all that, there anything I can do for either of ya before I go? Shank seems to have gone, and I don’t want that old bastard to start telling tales without me around,”he asked.

“ well, if anything gets dangerous where you're going. Call Amelia, I'll make a room for you on the ship, and I'm sure toaci wouldn't mind another crewmate” he said with a warm smile.
Toaci chirped “ big girls and big chips! “ he called and Keigo laughed.

Jonathan nodded appreciatively.

“I’ll be sure to remember that. Though, me and Boris already have a contingency in case shit goes south. I don’t know about Bull, but I’m sure he can take care of himself.”

When Toaci spoke, both Amelia and Jonathan laughed.

“Oh, I like this bird already! Anyways, I better fly off now. Ol’ Shank-A-Man is fast. See ya when I can,”Jonathan said.

He then left, running off.

Amelia chuckled,”Like I said, he’s a very enthusiastic individual. And gets especially hyper when he’s had his coffee.”

“ yeah, id agree with you.” Keigo smiled and pulled her close. Wrapping his arms around her waist “ so you never went by Amelia often? What made me so different?” his emerald eyes were soft and still happy. Though maxims words still rang through his head.

Amelia shrugged, smiling softly, her hands on his shoulders.

“I honestly don’t know why I changed my name, but I was in a rather confused state of mind then. I guess I just wanted to leave everything in my childhood behind and start anew, to fully adopt the pirate lifestyle. After meeting you, I don’t know, the persona of Emma just seems less appealing,”she answered, staring into his eyes affectionately.

Keigo smiled warmly “ never thought about that.” he said and kissed her again. “ let's get back to the ship, I'm already going to get an earfull from the medic.” he mumbled and nuzzled her. Eventually he let go and walked toward the door.

Amelia savored the kiss, then chuckled at the mention of the medic. She then followed him back to his ship.

Keigo hopped into the ship “ you guys ready?” he asked and then came into a room of sleeping men “ for fuck sake.” he mumbled and walked to his room. He came out a few minutes later with an air horn “ want the Honor?” he asked Amelia jokingly.

Amelia laughed,”Sure.”

She took the air horn, stepped just inside the room, and blew it. She laughed some more as many of the men jolted awake.

Keigo chucked “ wake your ass up boys!” he said, “ lets get to work.”

Amelia walked back to Keigo and handed him back the air horn, snickering the whole way.

Keigo smiled, walking back to his room and putting toaci up.

Amelia followed Keigo, this way she didn’t get in the way of the crew. She also just loved hanging around him.

Keigo smiled at her “ lost little puppie” he said teasingly.

Amelia snickered.

“More like loyal little puppy,”she replied with an amused smile.
