Malcolm glanced over at the front window and snickered. He moved over to the door and opened it.

“Well, it seems the situation has died down a bit before you arrived. Meet my guests. The feline is questionable.”

Malcolm moved aside, revealing a tall robot made of smooth white material. Its eyes glowed blue a moment, then shifted to green.

“Malcolm-Lifeform has found another like him. This is good. If Feline-Lifeform becomes trouble, he would make a good Bio-AI,”the robot said with a monotone voice.

“Possibly. Well, whatever your name is, meet one of the AI. I built them decades ago and they have far surpassed me in technology,”Malcolm introduced.

Hiro let out a deep growl at the robot's remark “ touch him and ill tear you limb from limb.” hiro looked over at Malcolm “ how's this supposed to make any fucking sense. And how the hell am I like you “

@Serpentess health_and_safety language

Malcolm gave him a wicked grin.

“I wouldn’t challenge him. The AI are far stronger than me. And you are like me because you have metal in you. You could even be considered a cyborg, like me. Oh, and I had called them with that little button by the door,”Malcolm explained casually.

The AI entered the shop, immediately moving to scrutinize the damaged vials of nanobots. It seemed to disapprove of the damage.

“I know, such a waste,”Malcolm sighed.

He turned back to Hiro.

“Any other questions?”

Deleted user

Hiro watched them like a protective dog. For some fucked reason he felt the need to protect kit at all cost. “ no”

@Serpentess health_and_safety language

Malcolm shrugged, turning to the door. Four more AI arrived, two entering, the other two remaining next to the door.

“Alright, now for an afternoon, or whatever fucking time it is, shot and more repairs. Oh, and here,”Malcolm announced.

He poured a glass of whiskey for himself and grabbed a card from the surprisingly undisturbed bucket. He handed the card to Hiro.

“My old business card, though I haven’t appraised jewelry in decades.”

The card was blank and white, but it almost immediately burst to life with nanobots. A vivid blue and red diamond appeared on the card, and the name of ‘Malcolm’s Jewelry Appraisal’ appeared below the diamond.

“Feel free to sit and rest, though your attack earlier destroyed all of the chairs in here.”

Malcolm walked away then, taking out his toolkit.

@Dinner

(Lmao, guess I’m the cat boy now OwO)

Ruthie stepped out of what seemed to be a recently raided house, carrying some necessary supplies for herself as she stepped around the pools of blood and bodies. She also found a couple of pieces of machinery around, but had tossed them away due to not needing them.
The group that lived here seemed to be relatively new, since they didn’t have many supplies here compared to groups that survived longer. Though what killed them all and why?
She scurried off, and tried to find somewhere to hide from the “wildlife”.

(Hmmm… shall Malcolm’s place have another break in?)

Hiro sighed, though with his jacket and shirt off it wasn't easy to ignore the soft red light that would go down hiros spine. Every time it did, a look of pain would cross his face and he’d hold his head.

@Serpentess health_and_safety language

(Morning. Wary glancing around. Early morning)

Malcolm noticed the red light from Hiro and turned around fully. He considered the look of pain and hummed.

“Is that a normal reaction, or a malfunction?”

He took a gulp of his whiskey, still holding his toolkit.

“ honestly I'm unsure. It started doing it a couple years ago and it's only gotten worse. “

@maximus-pinpoint group

William kept silent the whole time, trying to only look at Hiro and glaring at Malcolm occasionally. Whenever Malcolm mentioned hurting William, he looked up. "If you touch me, you will die." He said it stone-faced cold as if it was a fact. He then inflicted plenty of fear on Malcolm. After that, he just looked down and didn't say anything.

Hiro pulled William a little closer. “ I've been in pain since I left the damn lab

Deleted user

“ I understand your fear. “ hiro said, his blue eyes rested on Williams

@Serpentess health_and_safety language

(Really sorry about the length. I got inspired. And fair warning to any that are squeamish about it, there is an injection needle used)

“I see. Maybe I could look at it later,”Malcolm said to Hiro.

Malcolm paused with a strange look, then set down his toolkit and finished his glass of whiskey as his hands started to shake. He glanced at William suspiciously and huffed, seeming to calm down shockingly fast.

“You know, if you want to fuck with my emotions, if that’s what you’re actually doing, you’d be better served by making me happy. Intimidation and fear is something that doesn’t stay long with me, simply because… it pisses me off!”he snarled.

He leaned back on the counter with an angry sigh, seeming to favor his left leg. One of the AI turned, its eyes turning blue as it examined Malcolm. It seemed to calculate something, then its eyes turned green.

“Malcolm-Lifeform, the function of your leg decreases. Does Malcolm-Lifeform require assistance?”the AI said.

“What kind of fucking question is that? Why in the fuck would I be drinking my strongest fucking whiskey if my leg wasn’t losing function! Sure, it’s been a shitty day, but not that fucking shitty!”Malcolm burst.

“What happened to the polymers?”the AI asked.

“I’ve run out of the polymers, even the fucking liquified alloys, that I’ve been using to stabilize the fucking thing. And it’s such a bitch to make either one with the useless fucking scrap around here!”Malcolm ranted.

The AI’s eyes turned blue again, then returned to green. It walked forward, the tip of its index finger popping open like a cap, and set five tiny vials of liquid on the counter.

“Really? You make it look so fucking easy. But, why in the fucking hell are you helping me? I thought you didn’t appreciate how I have inadvertently extended my life,”Malcolm said with a sigh.

“Malcolm-Lifeform stated that you do not intentionally extend your lifespan. Malcolm-Lifeform has also proven useful to us,”the AI replied, moving away.

Malcolm snorted, shaking his head, and grabbed one of the vials. He moved to a somewhat damaged cabinet, limping slightly, and grabbed a miniature chair and an empty injection needle.

He moved back to where his toolkit was and tapped the miniature chair, dropping it. It grew to full size and he sat down, gingerly lifting his left leg onto the counter.

“This, you little fucking brats, is aging. Oh, and yes, I lied about the chairs. Fuck off,”Malcolm snorted as he placed the vial in an empty slot on the needle.

He then pulled up his left pants leg, revealing a massive burn scar running the full length of his skinny leg. He stabbed the needle into his thigh, seeming completely unfazed by the jab.

When he finished with the needle, he slowly lowered his leg and set the used needle on the counter. He waited a moment, then stood and tested his leg.

“Fucking finally,”he snorted, moving to sit back down.

(Just to clarify. The AI actually switch modes when their eye color changes. Blue is scanning, green is communicating, and so on)

Hiro scoffed at the bot “ fucking dick” hiro looked around at Malcolm's stash of metal. He closed his eyes for a second and opened them, they're were glowing a pure white and his spinal cord glowed a deep red. Suddenly the mixture of polymer that the scientist needed had flowed into many unused vials. Once he was done his eyes faded. He felt like puking or passing out, one of the two.

Deleted user

Hiro leaned on William “ can you change body feeling?” he looked sick to his stomach but his spine was still glowing red

@Serpentess health_and_safety language

Malcolm snickered, then noticed the pile of metal change and smirked.

“You do know that I could have used that metal for repairs.”

He sighed, then turned to William. He rolled his eyes.

“I suspect otherwise, but I’m in no fucking mood to argue with a brat.”

He stood, grabbing his toolkit, and looked around.

“Alright, I am going to work for a bit. You two can stay here, or go on the roof, but the basement is mine. I catch you down there while I’m working, and you’re likely to get shot.”

Malcolm turned to the AIs, but paused as he noticed Hiro’s glowing spine. He stared at it for a long moment.

“I can still look at that, if you wish.”

(I edited a bit, because I fell behind)

“ not right now or I'm liable to either pass out from pain or puke.”

Deleted user

“ it's not just fainting or puking. It's migraines from hell and full body shut down.” he said not noticing Malcolm and just holding his head.

Deleted user

“ as in I'm fucking comatose for an hour, aware but no reaction. But I have to really push myself for that” he said

@Serpentess health_and_safety language

“So, paralyzed with a twist,”Malcolm snorted, chuckling.

He moved behind Hiro, crouching, and pulled out a strong magnifying glass from his toolkit. He used it in front of his mechanical left eye, which made the effect even stronger.

“And now for the little details.”

Malcolm examined every inch of Hiro’s spine, able to see every microscopic nick or spur on the metal. The fact that it was still red made no difference to him, and the marks told Malcolm a story of the spine’s creation and usage. He couldn’t help grinning.

Deleted user

Hiro looked behind himself when he did microscopic hexagon plates shifted. Turning in response with his skin. The red light was a warning of some kind, though his maker never told him why.

@Serpentess health_and_safety language

Malcolm chuckled, then searched for a flaw that could cause the issues Hiro had earlier. He wondered what the warning light could be.

Overload of some kind? Maybe, too much heat? Or, for the more extreme, even a warning of some explosive or deadly event?

Malcolm pushed the questions aside for now, focusing on his search for a flaw.
