Elodie's mind filled with the memory of her sister, they were walking to the park, and Clementine had just fell into the duck pond, and Elodie had to go in after her to save her from drowning.
Clementine was about 5 or 6, Elodie was about 13 or 14, and they were both soaking wet, Clementine's curly hair was dripping and clung to her shoulders, her tiny pink and green dress clung to her torso and legs due to its wetness.
Elodie had a scowl on her face. Her jeans and tee-shirt clung to her body as well, and her converse made sploshing sounds as she walked, people walking in the opposite direction stared at them as they passed, Elodie finally plopped down on a bench, making a squishing sound.
Clementine sat next to her, Elodie pulled out her phone, which was now fried because she had forgotten to take it out of her pockets before she had gone in after Clementine.
They sat in silence for a couple minutes before Clementine looked at her hands and mumbled "im sorry".
Elodie sighed, sat up straighter, she lifted Clementines chin up with her fingers, and when their eyes made contact Elodie spoke with a smile,
"don't worry Clem, it was an accident, you fell, it isn't your fault." With a soft tone, because she knew if she acted mad, Clementine would cry out of guilt.
She hugged her little sister and then laughed at the irony of the situation, and stood up offering her hand to her sister, Clementine took it and stood up, Elodie and Clementine started walking back to their house hand in hand.
"Just wait until aunt Windy hears this" Clementine said with a smile.
