I smiled and called to Lupus, “You’re doing good!” But I was reluctant. Hunting wasn’t usually what I praised others on.

Lupus's tail wagged and he carried the mouse over to Sofie, dropping it at her paws.

“Yeah.” I imagined myself as a pup… The correct word is remembered. Wagging my tail as I jumped toward a dead mouse, suspecting it was sleeping. That was then. I thought, shaking my head.
