"Alright, one…" She smiled, readying her card.
"Alright, one…" She smiled, readying her card.
“Two…” Jade smiled, readying her next card as well.
"Three!" she put her card down.
“Three!” she said, finishing the countdown with Raven before looking down at the cards. “Uh… What do we do when we play the same cards?”
"We put down three, face down in a row, and then a fourth face up. Whoever wins that, wins all ten." she repleid. "Make sense?"
“Ok.” she nodded, glancing down at the deck in her hands and thumbing the first four cards in preparation.
She set her three down, then the fourth, faceup.
Jade smiled a little as she set down her three cards face-down before putting the fourth down face-up.
She sighed. "Ah, you win."
“Whoo-hoo!” she couldn't help but cheer as she took the ten cards into her pile.
She sighed, shaking her head in disappointment.
“Ready?” she smiled.
She nodded. "Ready."
“Ok. Sorry about the teasing, by the way.” she quickly apologized. “This game is a little more competitive than I thought.”
"You're fine, I get it. I picked it on purpose because I figured anything else, played with you, gives you a rather large advantage." She laughed quietly.
Jade chuckled, nodding and not taking any offence. "Fair enough, Birdie. And since this is more a game of chance, even if I counted the cards… It's a probability game." she agreed.
"Exactly. No brains necessary, so it's perfect for me." She laughed again.
"Hey, you're smart too. I… just happen to be… more gifted when it comes to technology." she said, ending in more of a murmur.
"Uh huh. Keep telling yourself that." She replied, shaking her head and laughing quietly.
Jade glared playfully back at her. "It's not like I choose this power, you know." she pointed out, as no one with power really had the ability to pick what power they wanted.
"Of course it isn't, who would choose to be so smart?" She said, voice easy and teasing.
She rolled her eyes and chuckled softly. "Alright. Ready… and draw!" she said, turning the focus back to the game as she quickly flipped down her next card.
She flipped down her own card as well, smiling softly.
"You won." she smiled softly back.
She grinned, taking the cards. "Ha. Now I'm losing by less."
"Yes, you are." Jade chuckled as the door creaked open and Sophie walked in.
"Phew… What a day." Sophie sighed, kicking off her shoes and pulling her hair out of a tight ponytail. "I almost wish I could quit this job and freelance like you do, Jade."
Raven looked up, flashing a quick smile. "Ah, and this must be Sophie." she greeted.
Sophie's head shot up at the new voice and turned to look at Raven. “Oh, sorry. I didn't know you had company.”
“It’s alright, Soph. I was actually hoping you’d get to meet.” Jade smirked a little. “Raven, this is my roommate Sophie. Sophie, this is Raven. She helped me out earlier today.” she introduced the two, wondering if and how to mention that they also worked together.
"Nice to meet you, Sophie." Raven said, smiling a little bit as she looked over at the other girl.
“Nice to meet you too.” Sophie nodded as she somewhat subtly checked out Raven.
