"Just some cards. I figured we could play war or something. Trash. Liar, if Sophie wants to play when she gets here. Hearts, spades. Hell, even poker."

“Well, poker is a little difficult with just two people but war sounds interesting.” she smiled sitting across from her. “Honestly, I might need a refresher course on that game” she admitted with a shrug.

"War is pretty easy. We just divide the deck in two and we put a card down at the same time, without looking to see what it is first."

“Ah. Makes sense.” she nodded. “And, I'm assuming, the higher card wins.”

"Exactly. And then you take the two cards and put them in a separate pile. Whoever has a bigger pile at the end, wins."

“Alright. That sounds easy enough.” she smiled.

She nodded, shuffling the cards.

Jade sat quietly and patiently, watching her shuffle the deck.

She started to divide the cards.

Jade waited until the deck was split between them and took her half. “Ready?” she smiled.

She nodded. "Ready when you are."

“On three then?”

She nodded again. "One, two, three." She put down her first card.

Jade put her first card down at the same time before looking down to see which one won.

She sighed. "Ah, you win that one."

“Beginners luck.” she smiled, setting the two cards aside. “Next round?”

"One, two, three." she laid her card down.

Jade put her card down on three and looked down. “You won.” she sighed, not actually disappointed.

She laughed, taking the cards and putting them to the side.

She smiled at her friend. “Ready? One…” she started as her finger brushed against her next card.

"Two, three." she smiled as she laid down her card.

“Three.” Jade smiled as they finished the countdown at the same time, quickly placing down her card.

"Ah, you take that one."

“Yay!” she teased as she placed the two new cards in her pile.

She sighed. "Oh, don't gloat." She replied, laughing. "One…"

She chuckled, readying her next card. “Two…”

"Three!" She put her card down, smiling.

Jade looked down at their two new cards and sighed. “You won this round.” she smiled softly.

She grinned, taking them. "Thank you."

Jade chuckled a little, not bothered by her quip.
