And even Scrooge was not so dreadfully cut up by the sad event, but that he was an excellent man of business on the very day of the funeral, and solemnised it with an undoubted bargain.

A literary legend wrote a run-on sentence….

Scrooge never painted out Old Marley’s name. There it stood, years afterwards, above the warehouse door: Scrooge and Marley. The firm was known as Scrooge and Marley.

That's a very fair and valid point.

Lumber room? Did Scrooge use this to room to store wood in? The heck is a lumber room anyway???

Looked it up. A lumber room is a place to store unneeded but wanted furniture; in essence it's a storage room.

“It is required of every man,” the Ghost returned, “that the spirit within him should walk abroad among his fellowmen, and travel far and wide; and if that spirit goes not forth in life, it is condemned to do so after death. It is doomed to wander through the world— oh, woe is me!—and witness what it cannot share, but might have shared on earth, and turned to happiness!”

That's a great quote!

“Why, it isn’t possible,” said Scrooge, “that I can have slept through a whole day and far into another night. It isn’t possible that anything has happened to the sun, and this is twelve at noon!”

It's okay Scrooge, lots of people these days tend to oversleep.
