like kids are a lot smarter than adults seem to think and its really easy to describe things to them if you remember kid friendly language and topics

yeah, that's true. My main issue is that it sets a terrible precedent for other streaming services and Disney to think that they get to police what people are watching, I really don't like that

Plus the whole Streisand Effect thing where the kids will see that they can't watch it and then only want to watch it more. I'd rather have them watch it with a little PSA beforehand that says "this depiction is very outdated and racist, and is not appropriate or kind. We regret putting it in this movie and will do better in the future" than with someone who thinks that there's nothing wrong with racist caricatures, you know?

they are not the parents of the children. if the parents don't want them watching it, then the parents can block them from watching it. not the streaming service. it's not their job to parent kids that aren't their own or pick an age where they thing it's acceptable for kids to watch it

like, there's ratings like PG13 and whatnot, but not all parents give a shit about the ratings and even some teachers

Does Disney+ have a Kids setting like Netflix? Because they could do a seven-and-under setting that has none of the PG-13 or more adult stuff and also not those three films, and it could be up to the parents whether they want their kid to be able to access that content.

I've seen the other two though. Peter Pan was good, Dumbo was weird and boring

Yeah idk about Aristocats but Dumbo was hella racist. And Peter Pan has some pretty sketchy stuff that made my siblings v uncomfy.

Dumbo is bad, yeah, and the whole "what makes the red man red" thing in Peter Pan always made me feel uncomfy, even as a kid

iirc Aristocats had one of the bandmate cats as a super racist Asian caricature.
