"Okay… I'll probably take a break for lunch." Lucas reluctantly got to his feet and headed to the kitchen to start his homework.
Melissa quietly trailed along behind him, sitting at the table next to him. She stayed quiet as she sat there, not really wanting to be too far away from him right now.
Lucas gently kissed Melissa's cheek before he started working on his homework, resting his head on the knuckles of one hand.
Melissa looked up at Lucas, watching him as he started to work. She was quietly playing with her hands, as she watched him in silence.
Lucas was already getting antsy by the time lunch rolled around, obviously tense and uneasy. He hadn't taken his medication yet, and he knew he probably needed to if he was going to continue.
Melissa had reached over to run his arm, looking up at him. “Honey, I think you need to take a break.” She whispered, scooting closer to him.
"Mm…" Lucas closed his eyes for a moment and let go of his pencil, trying to get himself to relax. "Y-Yeah, you're probably right…"
"Is it time for lunch, then? And maybe time you take your meds?" Melissa asked softly, still gently rubbing his arm.
"Yeah, probably…" Lucas sighed softly and ran his fingers through his hair. "Probably a good idea…"
"Alright… what do you want to eat?" Melissa asked softly, getting up. "I can make you basically anything you want."
"Anything's fine… and I can help you if you want." Lucas got up as well and stretched, sighing shakily.
“No, it’s okay. I can do it.” Melissa insisted, pulling the fridge doors open. “You really don’t care what I make?”
"I really don't care, Mel… whatever is easiest for you." Lucas leaned up against the table and closed his eyes.
Melissa glanced over to him, nodding a little before pulling a jar of sauce from the fridge. “Alright… can I do anything?” She asked softly, grabbing a pot to fill with water.
Lucas shrugged a bit, whistling for Cody to bring him his meds. "Dunno… what are you making?"
"I was going to make pasta? If that's alright." Melissa hummed, looking over to him as she set the pot on the stove.
"Yeah, that's okay… do you want me to help you with anything?" Lucas asked softly.
"I'm really okay to do it by myself… if you want to, I won't stop you." Melissa hummed softly, rifling through the cabinets.
Lucas sighed softly and nodded, taking his meds and then picking up Cody to hold.
Pulling a box of pasta from the cabinet, she set it aside before leaning up against the counter. "You wanna go lie down for a couple of minutes?"
"Um… yeah, sure… I-I'll go do that…" Lucas hesitated before heading into the living room to curl up into a tight ball on the couch.
Melissa watched him disappear into the other room, letting out a soft sigh. When she had finished making lunch for him, she brought it into the living room for him. "You ready to eat?"
"Mm… yeah…" Lucas sat up and winced a bit, rubbing at his temple with two fingers. "Thanks, Mel…"
"Yeah, of course… what's wrong?" Melissa asked softly, sitting down beside him. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine… just got a headache. Nothing to worry about." Lucas smiled weakly up at Melissa.
Melissa, not seeming to believe him, nodded just a little. "Right… do you want Tylenol?" She asked softly, handing him the bowl.
"Nah, I'm sure I'll be okay… it's not that bad, anyway." Lucas shrugged and yawned, petting Cody idly.
Melissa sighed softly, nodding a bit before scooting back on the couch. “Tell me if it gets worse, alright?” She asked softly, fidgeting with the ends of her hair.
"Okay." Lucas accepted the food from Melissa and started eating quietly, resting his head on her shoulder.
Melissa rested her head on Lucas’s, lacing her fingers with his. “I love you…”
