"Bass." She said, shrugging slightly, letting her hair fall in her face more. "It was the easiest to pick up and stick with for me." She glanced up, making sure the librarian wouldn't be coming over before going to read all the texts she accumulated. How much longer? I know it's only two periods after this before I'm out, but-
“Bass? Lucky you,” he said, voice still airy and holding that tinge of formality. And, while the whole conversation sounded like mindless small talk, Ringo was genuinely interested.
“I’ve never been able to pick up anything with strings. People say piano and guitar are so alike but… I just can’t seem to understand it, y’know? It seems more complicated than just putting a finger to a key.”
He mimicked the movements with a hand on the table, producing fake chords that he could almost hear the music to.
((I'm so sorry, I fucking passed right out last night!))
She nodded along, trying not to zone back out. "Strings hurt like hell, to be fair." She said, switching back to tumblr. "Takes a while to build up callouses." She bit her lip, eyes flicking over at him again, biting back. Maybe I should go to the nurse next period and pretend I have a headache so I can take a nap… "Honestly, I could never wrap my head around piano."
“Yeah, it’s not the most forgiving instrument, but I picked it up pretty quick,” Ringo replied, nodding along. “Granted, I did learn it on a busted 60-key keyboard without a stool, so tendinitis is a thing and I can’t play as often as I’d like, but I still love it with my whole heart. Then again— music is like that sometimes, huh?”
It wasn’t long before Sire took his few books and slipped them in a backpack absolutely covered in pins and patches, brushed his hair aside, and stood from the table.
“Anyway, I have to go. Biology teacher needed an assistant for setting up the lab for the sophies. It was nice meeting you, by the way.”
Juliet nodded. "Nice meeting you too." She said, looking up, hair actually falling away to actually show her face. "Is it the frog one?" She asked, biting her lip. "I almost threw up in that one, it smelt so bad."
She checked the time again, biting back a sigh when she realized she was still stuck there for a while. Can I risk detention so soon in the year for a nap?
“Nah, it’s the blood types one. The whole antigens and antibody tango,” Ringo responded, gesturing with his hands and raising an eyebrow. “And, tch, I don’t blame you. The frog one was totally gross.”
He slipped his backpack over a shoulder, giving Juliet a light smile as the bracelets on his wrists jingled quietly. He risked a small glance to the clock, pursing his lips as he read the time.
“I’ll catch you later, alight?” he asked jovially as he walked for the door. With a last thumbs up and quite the stupid-looking smile, he pushed his way out and began walking down the front steps.
Wonderful, making a fool of yourself yet again, Ringo, he thought passively, waving to a few people he knew as he passed the courtyard.
Juilet smiled softly, looking back down at her phone. Damn, I probably looked like a bitch… She shook her head slightly, yawning as she stared zoning out again, jumping when the bell finally rang. She shook her head slightly, grabbing her backpack and textbook to go to her next class.
(would we want to timeskip to after school, maybe? Like Ringo catches Juliet in the parking lot or whatever)
((Sure! Want me to post that starter?))
Juliet let out a sigh of relief as she walked out of her last class, going to her locker to grab a few books and her jacket. She hummed, throwing the books haphazardly into her bag, before sliding on the worn denim jacket. She slammed the metal door shut again, going outside to wait for her dad to pick her up, leaning against the flag pole outside, humming to herself softly.
Ringo walked out of the classroom somewhat disheveled, backpack slung haphazardly around one shoulder with his other hand desperately trying to untangle his earphones. His shoes tapped frantically on the blacktop as he hastily walked down to the parking lot, simultaneously trying to grab his keys. Although his demeanor completely changed as his eyes caught Juliet and he stopped, began smiling, and walked over.
“Juliet? Hey!” he called, slipping his headphones back in his pocket.
Juliet looked up, smiling slightly. "Hey." She said, looking over. "Damn, you look like you walked through a windstorm." She remarked, laughing slightly. "How'd that happen?"
