"Well, you can take a nap if you wanna. I won't stop you." Lucas shrugged a bit.
"Well, you can take a nap if you wanna. I won't stop you." Lucas shrugged a bit.
"Mm… what are you gonna do while I sleep, though?" Melissa asked softly, rubbing at her eyes. "I don't wanna bore you…"
"I might sleep as well, I dunno." He rested his head against Melissa's. "Or find some other way to occupy myself."
“Mm… you sure you don’t mind? I can stay up if you want me to…” Melissa mumbled, kissing his cheek before curling up. “Just say the word.”
"I really don't mind, Mel. It's fine." Lucas gently returned the kiss and hummed softly.
Melissa gave him a soft smile, nuzzling up against him. “M’kay… night…” She mumbled, curling up.
"Night, Mel." Lucas closed his eyes as well, figuring he might as well get some rest too.
Melissa had fallen asleep after a little bit, staying asleep for a while. After an hour, she started to stir, curling up closer in his arms.
Lucas had drifted off by the time Melissa woke up, one arm still wrapped loosely around her as he slept.
When Melissa had woken up, she carefully pushed away from him, trying not to disturb him. She just couldn't sleep anymore but didn't want to wake Lucas up. Aimlessly she began to wander around the room, fidgeting with her hands as she did. Eventually, Cody started to follow her around the house as she started to pick up anything that wasn't put where it was supposed to be.
Lucas stirred a few minutes later and sat up, yawning as he rubbed at his eyes. "Mmmm… Mel…?" He called out sleepily.
After a minute or so, Melissa had wandered back into the living room, glancing over to where Lucas was. "Hey…" She mumbled, bending down to pick Cody up.
"Hey… what're you doing?" He asked softly as he looked up at Melissa from the couch. "How long have we been sleeping?"
“I’m just… wandering I guess.” Melissa mumbled, holding the puppy close. “And- I um… I think it’s been like an hour? I dunno.” She shrugged some, coming over and sitting on the edge of the couch.
"Mm…" Lucas ran his fingers through his hair to neaten it up and yawned a bit. "I love you…" He murmured.
Melissa kept Cody close to her chest, glancing over to him. "Huh..? Oh, um… I love you, too." She mumbled in return.
"Are you okay, Mel?" Lucas asked worriedly. "You seem a bit distracted."
"I- um… I'm feeling kind of off… like- anxious. And- and I don't really know why." Melissa mumbled, setting Cody down when he started to whine.
"Will cuddling make you feel better, Mel?" Lucas asked softly. "You can come sit with me if you want…"
"I- um… I dunno, maybe?" Melissa mumbled, hesitantly scooting closer to him. "I- I just… I woke up like this. And I just- I feel… I dunno."
"Did you have a bad dream or something?" Lucas asked softly, wrapping one arm around her.
"I- um… I don't think so?" Melissa still mumbled, head on his shoulder. She curled up close, starting to fidget with her hands. "I- I don't think I dreamed at all, actually…"
"Mm. Do you have any idea what might've triggered this, then?" Lucas asked gently.
"No- I… I don't." Melissa replied softly, shoulders slumping. "I- I'm sorry… I'm no help. I- sorry…"
"It's okay, Mel… don't feel bad." Lucas gently kissed Melissa and held her close to himself.
Attempting to keep herself from getting too worked up, she buried her face in his shoulder as she tried to regain a steady breath. "I'm sorry… I don't know why I'm like this…"
"You don't have to apologize, Mel." Lucas rested his head against Melissa's and sighed. "I love you, okay? So much."
Melissa looked up at him, nodding just barely. "I- I love you too… I- I don't deserve you… not even a little." She mumbled, burying her face back in his shoulder.
"I don't deserve you, Mel…" Lucas held a bit tighter to Melissa. "You're fantastic. Greater than I could ever truly put into words."
Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes as she curled up, holding onto him tighter. "Lu…" She whispered weakly, keeping her face in his shoulder.
