Lucas nodded a bit and laced his fingers with Melissa's. "Let's get going, then."
Lucas nodded a bit and laced his fingers with Melissa's. "Let's get going, then."
Melissa gave him a light nod, heading outside with him. Keeping close to his side, she let her head lay on his shoulder. “I love you, babe…”
"Love you too, Mel…" Lucas kept Melissa close to himself as he walked down the sidewalk with her.
Melissa hummed softly as they walked, quite relaxed as they strolled down the sidewalk together. “It’s so pretty… the fresh snow, on the trees.”
"Yeah… not as pretty as you, though." Lucas kissed Melissa's cheek again, his cheeks lightly flushed.
Melissa’s face grew pink, shifting her gaze up to him. “Lu…” She whined, burying her face in his shoulder.
Lucas smiled a bit. "Ha! It's my turn to fluster you! Gotta turn the tables every once in a while."
Melissa pouted, looking up at him with a flushed face. "I guess so… but whyyyy?" She whined, keeping a hold of his hand.
Lucas grinned cheekily over at Melissa, seeming pretty pleased with himself. "Because it's fun~"
Melissa let out a slight huff, pulling his arm over her shoulders. "I guess so… I love you…" She hummed, wrapping her arm around his waist.
"I love you too, Mel. Consider it revenge for all the times you make me blush." Lucas snickered a bit.
Melissa huffed, leaning into his arms a bit more. "I guess that's fair…" She mumbled, looking up at him with a little smile.
Lucas gently kissed Melissa again and pulled her closer. "You know I love you."
“I do know that…” Melissa hummed softly, looking up at him. She still had a fond look on her face, despite her cheeks flushed. “I know you really do love me, and I love you.”
Lucas smiled at Melissa and led her through the trees into the clearing. "Glad to hear it, darling."
Melissa gave him a smile, glancing up at their surroundings. “Mm… what if I raced you to the clearing?” She asked softly before pulling away and picking up her pace a bit. “Loser buys winner a treat?”
"Sounds good to me. You're gonna lose, though." Lucas grinned and counted down from three before he started sprinting, quickly gaining a lead on Melissa.
Melissa, despite knowing she didn’t have a chance, kept a grin up as she chased after him. “You always win, there’s really no surprise!” She laughed, running a small distance behind him.
"Yeah, yeah." Lucas laughed softly and kept running ahead of Melissa, making it to the clearing a few seconds before she did. "Ha! I win!"
Melissa couldn’t help but laugh, coming up behind him, trying to catch her breath. “Yeah- yeah you did… gosh, I need to run more.” She mumbled the last bit to herself, looking up at him with a smile. “Looks like I owe you.”
Lucas looked back at Melissa breathlessly, smiling brightly at her. "Mhmm! What're we going to get, hmm?"
Melissa laughed a bit at his excitement, reaching out to take his hand. “Whatever you want. It’s your pick.” She hummed a bit, still trying to regain her breath.
"Hmmm… well, it's a bit cold for ice cream, yeah?" He led Melissa over to the willow tree and settled himself beneath it.
“Mm, just a bit…” Melissa laughed weakly, dropping down besides him. “But I mean, you can always save it. You don’t have to use your prize right now. Considering I left without my wallet.”
"True. Just like, cash it in another day." Lucas wrapped one arm around Melissa and hummed happily.
“Yeah, exactly! It’s there whenever you want to use it.” Melissa hummed, nuzzling against him with a gentle smile. “Though I wouldn’t wait too long, otherwise we may forget it.”
"Yeah, true." Lucas laughed softly and returned the nuzzles. "Sounds good to me, darling."
Melissa kept a smile up, resting her head on his shoulder with a light sigh. "Y'know… today actually feels really good. I think we might both be pretty happy right now- which seems to rarely happen anymore." She mumbled, playing with his hand a little.
"Yeah, I guess so." Lucas hummed softly. "I'll try not to think about it too much. I'll just enjoy the happy.
"Mm… alright." Melissa nodded, kissing his cheek before curling back up. "I kinda miss summertime… I want to be outside, but it's cold."
