Jade glanced over at Killian for a moment, wondering how common these headaches were for Alex or if it was just an ordinary thing since she knew powered individuals weren't the only ones that got headaches or migraines.

The older man cleared his throat faintly. "Do you two want to stay for dinner? Max should be home soon."

"Oh, how is he?" Killian asked. "It's been a while since I got to speak with him last."

"He's fine. Busy with work, but he's fine." Alex smiled a little bit.

"My husband." Alex replied, looking over at her. "I hope that's not a problem?" he raised his eyebrows faintly, unsure of Jade's standpoint on that.

Alex nodded a little. "Ah, of course. Yeah. He's a bit secretive sometimes, isn't he?" he asked with a soft laugh.

Killian stuck his tongue out at his cousin.

Jade nodded at Alex's comment with a smirk. “Very. Getting any personal information out of him is like trying to crack a safe.” she teased, only using that analogy because it was the first normal-sounding one that came to mind.

Alex nodded slightly. "Yeah, definitely." There was a knock on the office door, and another man stuck his head in. A smile flashed onto Alex's face. "Hey, Max. How was work?"

Max returned the smile. He had a buzz cut, dark brown hair, and light stubble on his face. "Work was tiring. Hey, Killian." His eyes moved to Jade. "And?"

"This is Jade." Killian introduced.

"Nice to meet you as well. Alex, what's for dinner?" Max returned his attention to his husband, raising his eyebrows a little.

Alex sighed, standing. "I was just waiting for you to get home to finish making it, love." he looked over at Killian and Jade. "Let's head out to the living room, and you two can talk with Max or whatever while I finish making dinner."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Max flopped down on the couch with a tired sigh, leaning back. Alex kissed his husband's forehead, then headed into the kitchen to finish making dinner.

Killian sat down, stretching. "So, Max, anything new going on with you?"

Max shrugged, rubbing his face. "Naw, but this current court case is absolute bullshit, I hate it." Max was a lawyer, and a pretty good one at that.

@ElderGod-Icefire

"I'm a lawyer." Max explained. "And this judge is just– the worst, god I hate him so much." he rubbed his face with his hands. "The kid I'm defending– nice kid, he's innocent and that's the plea they entered –damn, the judge really just doesn't like them. Which, the kid is black and nonbinary, and the judge is a bigoted old asshole, and so it's just not a fun case. Can't really give any more details than that because of legalities."

@ElderGod-Icefire

"Yeah. I just…god. Like I said, I'm a lawyer, defense lawyer to be exact, and I take on a lot of LGBTQ clients, and half the time the judges are just–" he blew out a breath. "I hate the legal system sometimes." then he blinked and looked over at her, and sighed. "Sorry, didn't mean to rant to you about that. I got a bit carried away."
