Melissa distracted herself with filing through his homework, mindlessly drumming her fingers on the table. When the oven beeped, inevitably startling her, she got up and pulled the pan out of the oven. After letting the cookies cool for a while, she made her way back to the fort, and lay beside him with a soft sigh.
Lucas stirred when he heard the oven, but it was another few minutes before he actually woke up. "Mmm… Mel…?"
Melissa was laying besides him, mind running with thought. It took her a couple seconds to register his voice, glancing up at him. "Hm?"
"Mm…" Lucas huddled closer to Melissa with a soft sigh. "How long have I been asleep?" He asked.
“A little over half an hour..” Melissa whispered, pulling him closer. She buried her face in his shoulder with a soft sigh.
"Mmm…" Lucas relaxed a bit in Melissa's arms. "Did you bake something?" He asked curiously.
“Mhmm… I made cookies.” Melissa whispered, nuzzling up against him some more. “Chocolate chip ones like I said earlier.”
Lucas smiled weakly. "Thanks, Mel… I should… I should probably get back to my homework now…" He sighed.
“Mm, two minutes?” Melissa asked softly, running her fingers through his hair. “And then we could eat cookies, while we work on it.”
"Okay…" Lucas leaned into Melissa's gentle touch and huddled close to her, closing his eyes again.
Melissa smiles softly, kissing his forehead. She gently rubbed circles into his back, kissing his cheek. “Mm, I love you…”
"I love you too, Mel… you're honestly too good for me…" Lucas laughed weakly.
Melissa nuzzled up against him some more, kissing him a couple more times. She grinned, giggling a little. “I love you, too~”
Lucas huddled closer to Melissa and sighed softly. "You're the best, Mel…" He murmured.
Melissa flushed a little, burying her face in his shoulder. "Mm… no m'not…" She mumbled in response.
"Well, I think you are, so…" Lucas kissed Melissa softly and pulled her close.
"But it's not truuuuue…." Melissa whined, holding on tighter to him. "I don't want you to believe a lie…"
"I think it's truuuue~…" Lucas whined back, toying with Melissa's hair a bit. "I'm not believing a lie."
Melissa huffed, resting her head against his shoulder. "I don't…" She mumbled, pouting at him.
"Agree to disagree, then?" Lucas stuck his tongue out at Melissa a bit.
Melissa only huffed again, curling up closer to him. Quietly she traced circles into his chest. "I guess… do we need to get up, now?"
"Probably, yeah…" Lucas sighed softly. "Gotta do my work, Mel."
“Right… well, I got the notes set up, so it should help.” Melissa told him, starting out of the tent. “And you can have cookies while you do it.”
"Mmkay, Mel." Lucas followed her out and grabbed himself a cookie to eat while he worked.
Melissa kissed his cheek as she sat down at the table. She hummed softly as she adjusted herself in her seat. "Alright, what are you working on? Can I help?"
"Still English… never finished it." Lucas sighed and sat down with Melissa so he could get to work.
Melissa nodded, reaching for his non-dominant hand to hold onto. "Mm, alright." She nodded, resting her head on his shoulder.
Lucas held tightly to Melissa's hand as he wrote answers down on his paper, trying to keep himself calm.
Melissa gently nuzzled against him, trying to keep him relaxed to her best extent. "Just tell me if you want or need help… I'm here for you…"
Lucas nodded a bit and kept writing, occasionally gripping Melissa a bit tighter, but remaining silent.
