"You're alright, I promise…" Rowan rested his head against Timmy's and sighed shakily before glancing over to Matthew.
"You're alright, I promise…" Rowan rested his head against Timmy's and sighed shakily before glancing over to Matthew.
Matthew was biting his lip. He didn't like seeing Timmy like this, not at all, but he still didn't know if it would be safe for him to come. Timmy leaned his head against Rowan's forehead, trying not to cry again.
"Can you finish eating for me, baby?" Rowan asked gently, holding the rest of the grub out to Timmy. "I wanna make sure you're okay…"
Timmy hesitated. He took one arm from Rowan's finger, then pulled the grub to himself. He held it in his mouth, going back to clinging to Rowan.
Rowan sighed softly as he continued petting Timmy. "How are you feeling?"
Timmy sniffled a bit as he ate, just shaking his head. He was worried, terrified Rowan would force him to let go.
Rowan looked over to Matthew again, unsure what to do. Timmy obviously wouldn't do well if they left him here with his siblings.
Matthew let out a soft sigh.
"Maybe we really should take him with us," he said finally.
"Maybe…" Rowan sighed softly as well. "I don't think he'd be able to handle being here without us…"
"Yeah…" Matthew sighed softly. "I say bring him with us."
"Alright…" Rowan sighed. "We'll have to be really careful with him, though. Where can I carry him that he'll be safe?"
"Well, your pocket," Matthew said quietly. "And he could technically ride on your shoulder. He'll be much easier to hide than my wings, after all." Timmy looked up between the two men, sniffling.
"True… I just don't want him i get hurt with us carrying things around, you know?"
"Right." Matthew thought a moment. "I think I could carry a lot of what you need to grab, but it is possible we would need more than one trip."
"True… do you think that'll be possible?" Rowan asked. "I mean, we'll have to get my mother and her things too… and Maisie."
"Right… perhaps we should get something that will let us go back and forth between the two worlds. Will all those things, we'll probably need to."
Rowan nodded a bit and sighed again. "We'll have to talk to the mages to see what the best thing for us to do is…"
Matthew wrapped an arm around Rowan.
"We'll figure something out," he said calmly.
Rowan nodded again and huddled up against Matthew, closing his eyes. "Yeah, we… we will."
Matthew reached up to gently run his fingers through Rowan's hair.
"Everything is gonna be okay."
"Mhmm… I hope you're right." Rowan sighed, relaxing into Matthew's hand a bit. "I'm stressed…"
"I know what you're feeling," Matthew admitted. "But we'll get through it." He held Rowan close to himself.
"Yeah…" Rowan buried his face in Matthew's chest and just allowed the other to hold him. "We should get going soon…"
Matthew held Rowan close still.
"Alright…" He ran his fingers through Rowan's hair again.
"Shall we bring the chicks with us?"
"Yeah, probably." Rowan reluctantly pulled away so he could pick up the nest from where it was laying.
The two chicks inside the nest smiled up at them. Timmy let out a quiet chirp, still holding onto his finger.
"Can you sit in the nest with your siblings, baby?" Rowan asked Timmy softly. "I don't want you to fall and get hurt."
Timmy look up at Rowan, eyes narrowing. He was afraid Rowan wouldn't take him with himself. Still, he slowly let go, climbing into the nest.
"Thanks, baby… it's just for your safety, I promise." Rowan gently pet Timmy's head before starting to walk.
Timmy leaned into the petting, unsure now. Matthew took Rowan's other hand lightly, walking with him out the door.
