Matthew left his wings out a bit, smiling at Rowan's mother.
"It really is nice here, ma'am." He grinned, picking the suitcases back up again.
Matthew left his wings out a bit, smiling at Rowan's mother.
"It really is nice here, ma'am." He grinned, picking the suitcases back up again.
"I'm sure it is, dearie. Now, are you bird like the little one? Or are you something else entirely?" She asked curiously. Rowan yawned a bit and rubbed at his eyes, clearly tired from the journey.
"No, not a bird." Matthew chuckled. He held out a finger, and Timmy hesisitantly moved to stand on it.
"See?" he said, motioning to the differences. "I'm an avian." He smiled a bit. He looked at Rowan, smiling softly.
"Perhaps we should head back in to town to get some rest," he said softly. "I'm sure Tammy and Tommy want to see their brother."
"Oh, yeah! Hopefully they've been okay with the sitter…" Rowan sighed softly. "But yeah, we gotta get going. I'm exhausted…"
Matthew set Timmy back down on Rowan's shoulder, holding the suitcases in one hand, his other hand going hold Rowan's.
Rowan held tightly to Matthew and pet Timmy with his free hand. "How far is it from here?" He asked softly.
Matthew looked around a bit, thinking.
"It should be a few minutes," Matthew said. Timmy leaned into Rowan's hand, smiling.
Rowan nodded a bit and leaned against Matthew's arm as he walked, clearly tired. "Sounds good to me…"
Matthew wrapped his arm completely around Rowan. He would have carried the man, but he could only lift so much. He glanced over to make sure the man's mother was still following, humming some. It wasn't long before they were in the city, Matthew smiling.
Rowan's mother smiled gently when Matthew looked back at her, walking along at a steady pace. Maisie ran ahead of the group, seeming excited.
Matthew smiled in turn. He shifted his wings some, making sure their little group stayed together as he lead them back to the hotel. A few people on the streets looked down at Maisie, a bit surprised by her appearance- she didn't look normal to them. Still, occasionally she would get head patts.
Maisie whined happily whenever someone stopped to pet her, her tail wagging wildly. "Maisie!" Rowan whistled for the dog and she came running back to his side.
Matthew smiled some as Maisie came back, opening the door to the hotel to let everyone in. He hummed softly, happy.
Rowan headed inside the hotel and flopped down on the bed, exhausted. "Yaaay… I can finally sleep…" Maisie jumped up onto the bed and curled up next to Rowan.
Matthew set the suitcases down, stretching. He yawned, looking around. He moved over to the bed as well, falling down and curling up next to Rowan. He was exhausted too- they could get the pets in the morning…
Wait.
They were supposed to be being watched here.
Rowan was too tired to make the same realization as Matthew, just curling up tighter on the bed. He didn't feel like changing into something more comfortable. His current clothes would do just fine.
"Rowan," Matthew said, starting to panic a bit. Where were the pets?! He reached over, shaking Rowan a bit.
"Rowan, where are the birds and Fluff??"
Rowan stirred a bit and looked up at Matthew, taking a few seconds to process before he went pale. "Oh my god." He quickly got to his feet and ran to the door.
Matthew shot up as well, looking around.
"Where- they probably j-just got taken out of a walk…" Matthew didn't really believe it, though. This was wrong, something isn't okay.
"What's going on?" Rowan's mother asked gently. "U-Um… you know Timmy? He has two siblings and we left them here with a sitter and now they're gone so we kinda have to go deal with that so I'm really sorry but I'll see you later?" He said quickly, not even pausing to take a breath before he headed outside.
Matthew nodded some, not saying a word as he hurried out of the hotel room and closing the door. Timmy was starting to panic, crying some. Matthew stayed by Rowan's side, eyes wide.
"Shh, shh, it's okay baby… we're gonna find them, okay?" Rowan told Timmy nervously, not seeming very confident. "Where could they have gone?" He asked Matthew.
"I-I- the store, maybe?" Matthew had no idea. Nothing- this didn't happen, not in this world. Timmy was still crying, curled up in a small ball.
Rowan nodded weakly and kept running, his exhaustion temporarily overtaken by adrenaline. "Where's the store?"
"That- that way," Matthew said, pointing. He was running, barely keeping himself by Rowan. His stride was that much bigger, after all.
Rowan nodded again and followed Matthew into the store, where he started looking around frantically and calling out the little birds' names in hopes that they would call back or find their way to him.
It was silent a moment, but soon there could be heard the frantic yelling of one of the chicks, trying to get Rowan's attention in the back room.
Rowan perked up at the soft sound and paused for a moment to listen before bolting again, following the sound of the chick's voice. He found the back room and started pounding on the door.
The door was opened after a moment.
"Can I help you–"
Rowan pushed the person aside without letting them finish and ran into the room. "Tammy?! Tommy?!"
