Nix nodded a bit. "Like how?" He asked. "Like a little garden? I know Halm prepares them for their new bodies or something, so…"
Nix nodded a bit. "Like how?" He asked. "Like a little garden? I know Halm prepares them for their new bodies or something, so…"
"Mm… it's more machine then garden. The souls Halm prepare come here to get their new bodies." Derlik hummed, nodding to his explanation.
"Interesting… so I guess this place comes after Halm's, then. Who sends the souls with their new bodies back up?" He asked curiously.
"Serna does. She got this big machine she puts them in that sends them up to earth. And, she doesn't so much actually put them in bodies, so much as design the ones they're going to get when they're born." Derlik hummed, smiling some.
"She's quite good at it."
"Oooh~" Nix looked up at Derlik, obviously intrigued. "Seems like that would be pretty fun to watch. Do you think she'd let me?"
"I think she would, if you asked. I've wanted to watch too, but she doesn't trust me around so many souls." Derlik chuckled some, scratching Nix's hair.
"But I'm sure as long as you're there to make sure I stay in line, it'll be okay."
"Why doesn't she trust you with souls?" Nix asked curiously, turning his ears back as Derlik pet him.
"I have too much of a tendency to take a liking to them," Derlik admitted. "I get attached and don't want them to leave."
Nix smiled softly and curled his tail around himself. "I guess that makes sense. Cas and I are stuck here anyway, though."
"Mhm… I understand that." Derlik leaned forward, lightly kissing Nix's head.
"Still, I don't want you leaving me anyway." The god offered a soft smile, letting his hand continue to rub Nix's head and back.
"Yeah, but we gotta go back to Halm…" Nix shivered a bit at the thought and curled in on himself. "We don't have any choice…"
"And that's why I'm going to go with you. I'm not going to let Halm anywhere near you, kay?" Derlik pulled Nix closer to himself to comfort him, patting his back.
"Okay…" Nix relaxed a bit, but he was obviously still uneasy. "I really don't wanna go back…" He whispered.
"I… I know," Derlik said, gentle. "We're all going to protect you, okay? You won't even see him."
"I hope you're right… I… I-I dunno what I'd even say to him…" Nix sighed softly and huddled closer.
"There's nothing you need to say. He knows what he did to you, and he knows what would happen if he tried to get anywhere near you." Derlik kissed the top of Nix's head lightly.
Nix nodded a bit and huddled a bit closer to Derlik. "Yeah, I guess so… do you think he'll be mad at me?"
"No, I don't," Derlik promised. The god wanted Nix to feel better, so it was time to get off of this topic.
"Mm…" Nix toyed with his hair a bit and turned his ears back. "I don't want anybody to be mad at me…"
"No one is," Derlik assured. "You're an amazing person, no shoulder ever be mad at you."
Nix flushed lightly and looked away. "W-Well, I'm glad you think so, at least… What if I deserved it, though?"
"Well, if it's hard for me to imagine you doing anything that deserves someone being mad at you," Derlik said. "But if you really did… Well, anger isn't the only way to handles things like that."
"I guess…" Nix fidgeted nervously with his hands, not quite sure what to do with himself. "I just want everybody to like me and not be mad at me…"
"Well, you're doing a really, really good job of it," Derlik said softly. The only person who seemed to not like Nix was Mother, and there wasn't really anything they could do about that. She hated most everyone, anyway.
"You think so?" Nix asked softly, turning his gaze up to Derlik. He seemed pretty uneasy still, and not entirely convinced.
"I most definitely do," Derlik agreed. "You're an amazing person, Nix. Trust me, I would know." The god kissed Nix's head, scratching behind his ears.
Nix flushed a bit and closed his eyes, still fidgeting nervously with his hands. "I-I… um… I'm glad you think so, Derlik…"
Derlik offered a gentle smile.
"Everyone here does, Nix," the god promised.
Nix buried his flushed face in Derlik's chest, turning his ears back again. "Well, I'm… um… I-I'm glad…"
Derlik hugged Nix gently, patting the man's back.
"I am too…"
