Melissa shook her head, kissing him again. "You don't need to be. I understand." She whispered, holding on tightly.
Melissa shook her head, kissing him again. "You don't need to be. I understand." She whispered, holding on tightly.
"Mm…" Lucas huddled a little closer and sighed shakily, fidgeting with his hands a bit. "I should be fine soon…"
"Take all the time you need. Let me know if there's something I can do." Melissa whispered, going back to her soft humming.
"What you're doing now is fine, Mel, unless you'd rather find some way to distract me…" Lucas sighed again.
"Whatever you'd prefer." Melissa whispered, kissing the top of his head with a soft sigh. She kept a tight hold on him.
"Uhm… we… we can talk, I guess, as long as you're okay with me possibly not replying…" Lucas replied weakly.
"What do you want, Lu? I'm happy doing what's best for you. I don't want to stress you out." Melissa insisted, still playing with his hair.
"I dunno what I want, Mel, I just… I'm having trouble thinking clearly right now… you can talk all you want, I don't know whether or not it would help until you try…"
"Right… tell me to be quiet if it makes it worse." Melissa whispered still, trying to think of something. "Maybe I could show you the dress I wore to homecoming when you're up for it?"
Lucas nodded a bit, closing his eyes as he huddled up with her. "S-Sure, Mel… we can do that…"
"I know you've seen pictures, but I felt like it looked different in real life over pictures." Melissa continued to whisper, rubbing his back.
Lucas nodded again, continuing to fidget. "I love you, Mel…" He murmured.
"I love you, too…" Melissa whispered, resting her chin on the top of his head.
"Mm…" Lucas buried his face in Melissa's shoulder, falling quiet again as he huddled up with her.
"You're fantastic, love… you mean the world to me." Melissa whispered, holding him tightly.
Lucas flushed a bit and seemed to relax a little. Being reminded that he wasn't worthless was helpful.
"You're a great guy. I'm so glad you're mine." She continued, nuzzling into his hair. "I can't imagine living without you."
Lucas buried his face further into Melissa's shoulder, his face still very flushed. "Mmm…"
Melissa smiled softly, falling quiet after that. She continued to run her fingers through his hair, slowly tracing into his back.
It took Lucas a few more minutes, but he finally relaxed in Melissa's arms. "M'sorry about that, Mel…"
"Do I even have to tell you, Lu?" Melissa laughed weakly, still tracing into his back. "I love you, I know you can't help it all the time."
Lucas nodded a bit. "I know, but I'm still sorry you had to deal with it… I'm supposed to be getting better…"
"Lucas, you are getting better. That was better than any of the other times, so don't sink into that mindset. Just focus on the fact that was way better than it has been in the past."
Lucas nodded again. "Yeah… I guess I can't exactly expect to just be 100% better…" He laughed weakly.
Melissa smiled softly, loosening her hold on him. "Exactly. And I don't expect it from you." She hummed, noising against his cheek.
"Thanks, Mel… I love you…" Lucas murmured, huddling a little closer as he sighed.
Melissa smiled softly, tipping his chin up for her to kiss him. "And I love you. You mean everything to me."
Lucas flushed a bit and looked away shyly. "T-Thanks, Mel, I… uhm… I feel the same…"
Melissa kept up her smile, pulling back some to give him space. "You alright, now? Or do you still need some time?"
"I still need a little bit of time… I think I'm feeling better now, though." Lucas smiled weakly.
