"But why…?" Nix asked weakly. "Why would you wanna choose to inconvenience yourself?"

Derlik thought a moment,, then shrugged some.
"You don't always have to have a reason to the things you do, Nix. Sometimes, it really is just instinct, or an impulse to do something. Is it suck a bad t thing I want to help you?"

"W-Well, not for me, but it might be for you and I don't want you to have to go to a bunch of trouble to help me…"

"It's alright. Really, Nix. It's not, I promise." Derlik gently put his hand on Nix's head.

Nix sighed softly and nodded. "Okay… if you insist… don't you have things to do back home, though?"

Derlik shook his head some.
"No, I don't." He smiled softly.

"Okay… what do you do all day, then?" Nix asked, confused.

"Well, normally I go around the world, insighting playful chaos as I go." Derlik offered a soft smile.

"Mm… I don't really do much around here. I mean, I haven't exactly been super emotionally stable while I've been here with miss Serna…"

"Yeah, I've seen… and it's alright to be like that, after what's happened." Hell, in less then two days Nix was expected to move back in with the god who hurt him like this.

Nix nodded weakly and fidgeted a bit. "I was better when I was with Halm… uhm… before he hurt me, that is…"

"I… yeah, that sounds reasonable." Nix wouldn't have a reason to be like this before he got hurt, after all.

"Mhmm… he and I were pretty happy, actually…" Nix fidgeted a bit. "But then he broke my trust…"

"So I've heard." Derlik gently scratched Nix's head. He knew it had to be tough.

"Mhmm… I have to admit that I miss what we had sometimes, but… it'll never be the same…"

"Yeah…Still, perhaps some day you'll be able to have it with someone else." Derlik held Nix close, letting out a breath.

"Hopefully…" Nix sighed. "I just… I wish he hadn't done it. Then we'd still be happy and we wouldn't have any problems…"

"Mm… but all we can do now is move on." He offered Nix a weak smile, still holding the cat close.

"It's hard, though… I can't just forget about it, you know? I'm gonna remember it forever…"

"Mm… Yes, you will," Derlik agreed. "But we just have to continue going on."

Nix nodded a bit. "Yeah, I guess…" He sighed again. "I just wish that I could forget about it so everything could go back to normal…"

"I'm sorry you can't," Derlik said softly. Mostly because he wouldn't let Halm do that to Nix.

"Mm…" Nix buried his face in Derlik's shoulder. "Maybe we'll be able to leave Halm's place eventually…"

"That would be nice…" Derlik let out a soft sigh.

"Mhmm… I really don't wanna have to be there again… but I don't think there's any way out of this."

"I… Don't know…" Derlik didn't want to cross Mother again.

Nix shifted a bit to be more comfortable and fidgeted a bit. "I just really don't wanna have to stay there with him…"

"I know," Derlik said softly. "We'll just have to make the best of this…"

"Mhmm… and you said you'd stay there with me, right? To… to make sure he doesn't do anything to me?"

"I will, promise." Derlik held Nix close a moment, smiling softly.
